last night i got to re-format my computer (not by my own choice) and now that i have everything re-installed and all the up-dates done the disk drive will not read blank disks. this is odd to me since the same drive reads data disks as well and music disks.

any ideas?

Well, I'm no computer geek by any means, but if your disk is blank, what would you expect the computer to read from the disk? :-/

its the CD-ROM, and what i mean by not reading the blank disk, when i put a blank disk in the drive the CD-ROM doesnt know theres a cd in  there. after messing with the thing im wondering if some part of the disk drive has not failed.....or the unit doesnt know its a writable unit.
