Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 21, 2008 Super User Posted January 21, 2008 So a few months ago my Hummer was broken into at a boxing event and the only two things stolen were my Ipod and Louis Vuitton briefcase. > I don't use a brefcase regularly, but when I fly to LA for meetins (which seems to be a lot more often) I use it for documents, laptop, and a few things I carry with me. I've been looking for a good bag that I can carry and not have it look so "official" as the last breif I had. A buddy of mine turned me onto this site and I think I found what I'm looking for. Cool story on how they were eventually made too. http://www.saddlebackleather.com/index.htm Quote
jasone Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Hummer? Louis Vuitton? Can you get me a job where you work? Just kidding. Those are just about the coolest briefs/bags I have ever seen. Kind of makes me wish I needed one. Most of my meetings are informal. I say go for it! J Quote

Fishing Doug Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Redline, I have been looking at new bags as well. I am looking for something a little smaller-I do not need to fit a laptop in mine. Below are a couple I have picked out: Burberry: http://www.burberryusaonline.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2540276&cp=2119967.2126964&parentPage=family Cole Haan: http://www.colehaan.com/colehaan/catalog/product.jsp?productId=126476&categoryId=300331&productGroup=136184 Leaning towards the Burberry. ejtaylor822 Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Those are nice. I'm like you and like something not so "formal". Plus, I just find the bags so much easier to deal with than a brief case for laptops & accessories. Those bags are nice and when it comes to this type of stuff, my experience is that you get what you pay for. Let us know what you wind up doing. Quote

Tokyo Tony Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Those look more like purses than cases. Lol that's what I thought too. Anyway, Redline - those bags look tasty. I hear the briefcase monkey knocking. Quote
Hawgin Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Personally I'm a huge baseball fan, so I've always been fond of these bags. http://www.beverlyhillsluggage.com/2cofrpococa.html Quote

Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 22, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 22, 2008 The Burberry is nice, but like other couture brands looks too much like a "man purse". These satchels look rugged, and not so formal. I think I;m going to give one a shot. Now which finish...... Quote
Korea_Bassin Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Hey Redline, I see you are from Gilroy, CA. Do you use a lot of garlic baits? ;D I was stationed in Monterey twice for a total of almost 5 years when I was in the military and another year up in San Fran. I loved the Monterey area and would still be there if Uncle Sam would have let me stay. I fished about 3-4 days a week after work. I lived only 10 minutes from the ocean. Used to do a lot of surf fishing for surf perch and tried the stripers from the beach a couple of times but never was able to hook one up. I did get a couple of Leopard sharks while I was there though and some huge Rays. I wasn't able to find a good place nearby for bass fishing though. Went up to Pinto Lake a few times for some trout. I saw a dude catch one of the largest carp I've ever seen in person out of there one day too. The closest bass fishing I ever did around there was down south about 100 miles at the military recreation area near Fort Hunter Liggett. Had an excellent time, but almost roasted in the 115 degree heat. Totally different from Monterey where its foggy every day and you need a sweater almost year around. Sorry to change the subject so drastically. but it just brought back a lot of memories when I saw your location. Quote

She was not aware that they make baseball gloves. Robert, You carried a Louis Vuitton briefcase!? Please tell me it didn't have that logo all over it like the purses do. :-[ Quote
Super User .ghoti. Posted January 22, 2008 Super User Posted January 22, 2008 Been in the market for a new case for a while. I've been carrying a leather bag from Wilson's leather. It has storage slots for a PDA(i have a Dell Axim), cell phone, business cards, glasses, sunglasses, spare knife, etc. Really handy little bag. My wife calls it my "purse". Not funny. So I ordered one of these; http://www.knifeoutlet.com/shop/10Expand.asp?ProductCode=TOP006 That should put a stop to all the "man-bag" comments. Cheers, GK Quote
Zel Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I once had a VP who swore by Orvis Briefcases (he fancied himself the outdoorsy type). They did look pretty cool. http://www.orvis.com/store/product_directory_showcase3.asp?dir%5Fid=11379&group%5Fid=11385&cat%5Fid=5415&subcat%5Fid=6450 Me, I get whatever's on sale at Staples. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted January 23, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 23, 2008 Olebiker, LV makes some very tasteful breifcases. It looked nothing like a purse. Quote
