Tin and I were out one morning...about 4am if I remember. We're slowly motoring out onto the main lake, and I said sleepily "Seriously, why do we do this every weekend? We come out here, catch this green thing, take a picture of it, then throw it back!" Don't really have an answer, just something I've done since I was about 3, same as my dad, his dad, etc. Must be the Scandinavian blood.....  ;)

I remember it like it happened yesterday.

When I was a kid the man next door was a fisherman. He'd come home after dark with stringers filled with bass, bluegill, walleye, and cats. Some huge fish, too. He'd tell me all about how he caught 'em and what he caught 'em on. I was hooked before I ever held a rod.

When he had a garage sale I bought his old zebco 202 on a whippy little fiberglass rod. I'd ride my bike to the park, and the the pond at the high school and fish all day for whatever would eat a worm.

I've never looked back.

I fish because I love to fish.

Why do I love to fish?  Everything about it is amazing.  Name any one part of the whole fishing experience, and that part is amazing.

Why I love to fish?

Could it perhap be the sound of  the engine purring at 5am in the morning while your ideling out and getting ready for a long run down the lake at sunrise? Could it be the rush you get from catching a fish that you work hard at trying to catch? Could it be the satisfaction of beating out 120 guys for first place? Could it be the outdoor beauty that America has to offer that attracts you? Could it be the most conveinced get-a-way?

Perhap it's all of it. ;)

But I truly love getting in that boat and riding out into the lake trying to catch fish, relax, and enjoy quality time with the ol' man. Even if we dont catch anything we are always laughing on the boat by talking about random things that happens in soceity.

Fishing with my ol' man are times well spent.

I fish for a few reasons.

It's how I get away from the world.

I love the outdoors, the kind where there is no manmade sounds or objects.

The adrenaline rushes I get!

The challenges!

It keeps me from going crazy! ;D

and..............last of all................I am good at it,........ ;D,...joking!

Pure enjoyment and relaxation.

I work in technology for a demanding and sometimes unreasonable company (like most). When I fish, there are no computers involved, no unreasonable demands, no irate end-users, no complaining executives, no long winded meetings, and no screaming boss. It's me, a piece of string, bait and a fish - the most simplistic form and the way its been done forever.

Additionally, I like being outside and taking it all in - I just love the water.  Fishing allows me to spend time doing something with my Dad when we're together - I'm mid-40's, but, fishing with my Dad takes me back to a time when I was a boy. Also, and this is silly, its nice to know that once in a while I am smarter than one of God's creatures that he made very cunning with keen survival skills - yes, once in a while I need to know that I am at least smarter than a fish.   :-[

I get pushed and pulled from so many directions in my daily life. From family to work, I just need to get away. I like fishing with other people, but overall I think I enjoy just being alone more.  ;D

I also love learning new things. Not just bass fishing but saltwater too, There's so much that we don't know, and so much to learn.
