Hey Fellas: Just curious, I know we all fish for fun, so I do not know exactly how to put this question, and I didn't want to do it as a poll.

Who fishes just to be out on the water and fish for relaxtion and such and who fishes for competition and such? And Why?

I just fish for fun and relaxation; I take a true Mook aproach to the whole deal 8-)

I love the competition. I don't know why, I can't explain it. There is just something about all those boats at sunrise and the emotions. When you do something right and it pays off, it feels ten times better than when your fun fishing. Same goes for when you screw up, you feel awful.

And if it wasn't for the competition I would appreciate those fun and relaxing days fishing with LBH and 5.0 as much.

Both.  But the competition part for me is not against other people.  It's me vs me.  Me vs the lake.

I fish for fun and relaxation. There is nothing better than being out at the lake where its really quiet and peaceful. I do it because it is something positive and something that i can teach my children whenever i decide to have some. Plus i like buying stuff and the baitmonkey provides plenty of things for me to spend my money on.

Why do you fish is the first place?

It's the hunter instinct in me; I like the satisfaction I get after tracking down where the fish live and then tricking the fish into striking artificial bait.

It's just something that is in my family.  It's what we do.  I've done it all from trot lining for catfish, tournament bass and red fishing, and deep sea fishing.

For tournaments, I love the rush.  I like to be able to go out there and test my skills against other people, the lake, the fish, and myself.  I love the pressure that figuring out the puzzle gives me.

I fish for fun and relaxation as a way to get away from the grind of everyday life.  Something about watching that popper pop, that buzz bait buzz...it just releases stress.

I also fish for food.  Nothing like blackened redfish, baked speckled trout, or fried catfish and hushpuppies.  I don't eat bass though.  I want all those babies to grow up and break records for me.

Muddy,

No phone.

No secretary.

No irate clients.

No dumb questions from office staff.

No interruptions.

No wife (God Bless her).

No kids.

No dog.

No TV

No Radio.

No traffic.

No noise.

No yard work.

No "honey do's."

No neighbors.

No business associates.

All nature.

All beautiful.

All quiet.

All to eat and drink when and what I want.

All doing what I want to do it and how I want to do it.

All of the challenge.

All of the exuberance when catching a bass.

All for me.

Any questions?

I like to try to outsmart a critter with a brain the size of a marble.  8-)

To figure out where they are and how to sort out the details of the daily pattern is what I love. Even when I lose.

I think of fishing as a healthy escape from the pressures of life. Also it helps me to connect with others, especially younger guys who don't understand why I'm not hip to video games. LOL At last, even when I don't mean to, I get caught up in the challenge. Just one more cast, I know it's raining and the wind is blowing but there is certainly a bass under that there log. It's kind of like gambling, it pays off just enough to keep you coming back. I love it!

I've always fished, but I started deer hunting when I was 12. I got addicted to the challenge of it. (And the meat ain't bad either) I shot my first three deer with a 50lb bow while still hunting (Stalking). This was a huge rush and always a tough challenge. I honed my craft of still hunting for nearly 20 years. Then a few years ago it got too easy. I had shot over 100 good deer while still hunting. It wasn't a challenge anymore. I didn't need to spend the countless hours in the woods scouting all year long. I could accomplish the same things with just a few days of hunting. So I all but quit. I now fill my freezer and I'm done.

So I found myself with a need for another challenge. I was already bass fishing during the spring and summer but I wasn't as good as I was at hunting so I started researching and fishing hard. This is about the time I found BassResource and that's when I realized that I found the ultimate challenge. Bass Fishing is something I love and it can challenge me for the rest of my life.

So, to answer your question. I go fishing to become a better fisherman.

I fish because I heard it was a good way to pick up hot chicks.  That's why I always dress to look like Indiana Jones.  Unfortunately, the only hot chicks I've seen were always sunbathing on the bow of some rich guy's 35 ft. lake screamer.  I would motor by in 17' Tracker and wave my Indiana Jones scarf, but all they would do is look up lazily and give me the finger.

I'm beginning to think that I should give up on the chicks and just concentrate on enjoying being outdoors.
