Just last night, I came across my first celebrity in public. Here is the story from the other thread:

Muddy, we all had a great time there meeting you and Bruce.  Definitely some fishing trips in the works for this year.

Anyhow, after all the lure buying and BSing was done, my car-full of people decided to go check out and start the long drive home. The lady at the check out counter was handing me the receipt to sign and she says, "Geez, how much stuff is that guy gonna buy?" as she is pointing behind me. I asked, "Who" and her reply was "The guy from the Sopranos over there."

Well, this got my interest and I turned around to see this tall gangly looking fellow behind me.  I thought to myself, what the &**%$#^% is this lady talking about?

Then I looked over to the next set of registers and there stood none other than Tony Soprano himself, James Gandolfini.  One of the guys that came with me is a big, big fan.  I went over and told him to look at the guy and see if he looked familiar.  He darn near froze in his tracks when he realized who it was.  We got a piece of paper and a pen from one of the registers and my buddy was too scared to ask him for an autograph.  LOL

I really wanted to leave, so I took the pen and paper and walked up to this guy.  Believe me, this is a BIG man.  I dont really have to look up to a lot of people, but I did with him.  He was very nice and signed the paper to my buddy Travis.

That is seriously the last person I would expect to see at a Cabela's with three shopping carts full of camo clothing, but there he was.

Cool end to a great day.  Thanks again to all that attended.

Wayne

Redline, you dont count for this one!!!!!   LOL

Celebs I have met, never asked for an autograph, all were in conversation , mostly at TIPATINAS in New Orleans or ANTOINES in Austin

John Lee Hooker- an absolute gentleman

Antoine (Fats)Domino: over several conversations, with a lot of young musicans , like myself> he litterally gave us the history of New Orleans R&B

Dr.John many times he always makes time for fans

Albert Collins couldn't understand why we wanted to spen time with him?

John Vidochovich: I eventually took drum lessons form him!

B>B> KING; Kind, tired but took some time to talk with us anyway

PROFESSOR LONG HAIR: the best, a true ammbassador and originator of R&B

Little Richard; We got to to do the OOOHHHHH THING 8-)

PS This was nothing special or unusual. Imoved to New Orlean to find out where it all came from, and these great musicians took time to talk to you, if they saw that. 8-)

Just after high school, while working in the Sports/Auto department at K-mart, I ran into Ron Morris (former Chicago Bears RB) there.  He had brought the family mini-van in to get a luggage carrier replaced (that he purchased at a K-mart in Chi-town).  Not realizing it at the time, he was from Cooper (only about 20 miles away).  He was very polite and let us take pictures and signed autographs.

The other encounter was with country comedian Jerry Clower.  We saw him in Lubbock while chaperoning some kids at the Texas FFA convention (we skipped out on the third night to go see him instead).  We got to go backstage and get pictures and autographs with him.  The really special part was getting to sit and visit with him for about 15 minutes in the hotel lobby the next morning.  He was as genuine as he seemed to be on stage.  He actually originally got a BS degree in Ag Education and was selling fertilizer of all things.  His clients thought his stories were extremely funny and suggested that he become a comedian.  Funny man. . . he will be missed.

When I lived back in KY Gallagher came to town to do a show at our Paramount Theater there. I worked at a grocery store at the time. Would you believe he came in to buy his own watermelons for the show. lol. Apparently he doesn't like talking to people in public. Nobody really noticed him until he got to the check out line. While he was in line people started to approach him for his autograph. He got frustrated threw some money down and literally ran out of the store. One of the funniest things I've ever seen. Gallagher running out of a grocery store very agitated with two watermelons under each arm.  ;D

I was watching a big poker hand at Foxwood's a month or two ago (I'm talking a $20K pot - way way higher than the limits I play), and someone at the table made a comment, and as I looked up, there was James Woods.  It's pretty weird seeing someone famous in person instead of on t.v.

And way back in the day, Ted Williams was trying to "get with" my great aunt, and he wasn't looking for a long-term relationship, if you know what I mean.  My great aunt was very religious and was holding off til marriage, and she didn't know who he was (not that it would have made a difference), so obviously she declined  ;)

I saw Bill Nye the science guy at Dulles International Airport one time and I believe I MIGHT have seen Roland Martin at Louis Armstrong Airport in New Orleans.

also, I met George W. Bush, Ozzie Smith, Paul Molitor and Andy Pettite at the same event.

The guy in the green shirt is my twin brother, I'm on the right in the blue striped shirt. Andy Petitte is the big guy, you know who Dubya is, and Ozzie is in the orange on the far right. Paul Molitor was off to the right out of frame.

Hank the angry drunken dwarf (from the Howard Stern show) sat next to me on a flight from Ft. Lauderdale to R.I......obviously before he died. Yes he was drunk and yes he was angry......

I never saw Walter but his kid ran several times in the IL state gradeschool track meet a few blocks from my house.

The Chicago Cubs used to do a road show in the spring in my town. You got to go down on the field and they would give you pointers. Ron Santo, Ernie Banks, Randy Hundley, Billy Wiliams ahh the memories.

Was at Augusta GA airport once when clinton landed but I had 2  black suitcases with electronic parts in them, some had wires hanging out of " hockey puck" shaped SCR's. I fig'd best not to try to get close to the pres. Nowdays I'd never get to fly with that stuff! LOL

Ny mom used to work at a Mickey D's . The owner was a Notre Dame Grad. Joe Montana used to call every monday morning after the game to talk to his buddy! man I should have gotten an autographed football.

I'm with Five Bass Limit on this one.  On the last Lake Fork trip, I had the great good fortune of meeting such celebrities as Glenn, ALL the Mods, Alpster and many other great guys and gals. I think Muddy was there also. :-/

Here's a short list of some of the people I've encountered but I'm sure I'm forgetting several:

First Lady Laura Bush - Nicest lady you'll ever meet

SecState Dr. Rice - Nice lady, a true genius in every sense, I have much respect for her accolades and accomplishments

Former SecDef Rumsfeld

N.M. Governor Richardson

Alberto Gonzalez

Former President Bush - A very friendly, kind individual

John Kerry

Several Congress men/women

Nick Lachey

Diana DeGarmo

Rosario Dawson - Actually met with her for role rehearsal/information gathering for an up-coming movie she is starring in - pretty interesting woman - very humble and personable

Funniest encounter - we took Kid Rock on a USO tour a couple of years back and he asked my co-worker if he wanted an autograph, my co-worker didn't know who he was and told him he should be asking us for autographs

I danced with super model Naomi Cambel at one of Donald Trumps parties at the Mara Lago in Palm Beach.  And yes, she was HOT.

Mention of Dennis Quaid in another thread reminded me - my college golf team and I were playing Bel-Air Country Club on our spring trip my senior year and Dennis Quaid played through our group. He hit a huge high hook that went into the trees, and he was skinnier than I ever would have imagined, I won't go into the reason...

I went to lower and middle school in Miami with Jeb Bush, son of the old FL governor who is, obviously, Dubya's brother. Jeb Bush, the father used to come to a bunch of our soccer games, and First Lady Barbara Bush, at the time, made it out to one of our games, secret service and all. People kept bothering her and asking questions, and finally she just said, "Would you folks mind just letting me watch my grandson play soccer?" Very gracefully, of course. When little Jeb and I were in the playground while his grandfather was president there were always a few secret service guys scanning the area. He used to say, "Hey Secret!" It never occurred to me what a big deal that family was, but in retrospect, it's pretty ridiculous.

I was on a movie set (extra) with JLo and Ben, both said not 1 word to anyone but themselves and the director Kevin Smith (I think that was his name). I stood shoulder to shoulder with Jason Biggs and he didnt say one word either. George Carlin and Mike Starr were also on the set and they were talking to me like they were nobody...they were down to earth as one could be, me and George were helping some light dude hold his ladder up, I couldnt believe it. It was the wedding scene in Jersey Girl, it was deleted. I got paid cause it was a union job though. This happened in Paulsboro NJ. I had to throw rice on Ben and JLo as they walked out of the church and I was throwing it extra hard cause I dont like them ;D Ben is tall and looks grumpy. In fact, neither of them made eye contact with me...True story!!
