Super User Matt Fly Posted January 9, 2008 Super User Posted January 9, 2008 Its easy to say OSU was out coached and played when the score looked like it did. Lsu was the more physical team on that night, on both sides of the ball. They created a spark in another phase of the game, ans that was special teams. No doubt LSU is at this time, the best that survived this crazy 2007 season. Don't remeber is LSU and Georgia was on the schedule this year or not. If they didn't play, I would love to see that game as well. Second half of college football, I thought the Gerogia Dawgs was the hottiest football team playing. Most of all, there defense got meaner in the second half of the season. They flat out went after you on defense. No setting back and counter punching of defense, they smashed you in the mouth from the start. I would pay to see LSU and Georgia play next!!!! Quote
BUCKEYEone Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 Matt Fly- I saw a mention of that on Google news, sounds like Georgia started grumbling about who should have been playing for a championship before Ohio State had even left the big easy. I've always liked the idea of a playoff, but at the same time I think eveyone will always have some complaint, no matter what system they use. link: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/college/2008/01/09/2008-01-09_georgia_wants_playoff_to_eliminate_doubt.html Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted January 9, 2008 Super User Posted January 9, 2008 What most don't see or fail to look at is, There has basically been only 2 colleges in the West that competes for West title and thats LSU and Auburn. Look at it since the BCS!!! Since the BCS was conceived, Theres only 3 colleges from the east that plays for the title. Florida, Georgia, Tenn. Are you with me so far. Georgia didn't have to play LSU this year. Normally the team that plays LSU, Auburn from the west don't play for the title that year. Stats speak for themselves. There are 5 good teams in the SEC on most years, and when has Miss ST, Ole Miss, Vandy, Kentucky, Alabama and Ark and South Carolina, been consistently playing for the conference title? How many times have these great schools been in the running for the West, EAST or over all title? Just like other conferences, then and only then can you fairly judge strength of schedule. Florida lost 4, one of them to the Wolverines who lost 4 games as well, and the heads up game was in Florida was it not, and Michigan got ranked 4 spot behind Florida. Heads up or not, Michiagan beat College footballs best player and defending champs and that counted for what? Nothing!! Quote
Fisher of Men Posted January 9, 2008 Posted January 9, 2008 I would pay to see LSU and Georgia play next!!!! It seems that's been the case about other teams for the last couple of years. Matt, I see your points about scheduling. It's the same in the Big 12. It would only be fair if everyone played everyone else. Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 9, 2008 Super User Posted January 9, 2008 LSU - 38 OSU - 24 First OSU TD will be scored when the Fighting Tigers are too excited and shift over too far and let the OSU running back scamper about 65 yards for a TD. OSU field goal set up by a busted cover by Stelth. OSU second TD scored on an interception and return for TD. OSU third TD worth nothing as the second string players for LSU are in the game as time expires. Don't know how correct I will be but LSU will win and get the Buckeyes so confused that when the go into the locker room after the game and undress they will find their jocks are on backwards. Dont't you just love it???? P.S. Went to the game. Ohio folks are great. Nice people. Not a loser in the group. High class, win or lose. However, with that said, I think a bunch of them were overwhelmed by the sights in the French Quarter. Especially those who brought THEIR KIDS with them into the Quarter. You don't bring your kids into the French Quarter! Too much food, drink and walking. Now to recuperate back home. Quote

It seems that's been the case about other teams for the last couple of years. Matt, I see your points about scheduling. It's the same in the Big 12. It would only be fair if everyone played everyone else. Its a media perception that the SEC is so tough, the best conference. Every year, Auburn gets Miss. St, Ole Miss, Ark and Alabama, and LSU, Now if you look at past seasons, Auburn is normally 4-1 or 5-0 on this schedule alone. add three cream puffs, and make that 7-1 or 8-0. Now depending on the three you play from the East, could be vandy, South Carolina, Kentucky, or Georgia, Tenn or Florida. Every year, its always gonna look like a very tough conference. But some one is set up for a nice run. This year, it was LSU's turn. And yes, it happens in all conferences. My poor Horns have not found a defense as of yet, and we play KU, CU, Mizzou next year, as well as Ark for two years, We catch the North when they are on the rise. UGA president wrote letter to BCS, gave them 8 team format 7 games, with the 4 major bowls as quarter finals playoffs. Just the way it plays out most years, Hookem Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted January 9, 2008 Super User Posted January 9, 2008 Sam, I have been to some Big Xii championship games, and UT games, Holiday Bowls, but nothing that big. I hope you have some pictures to share. Did you have good seats. Never been inside the Dome. I have always thought Nebraska fans were some of the classiest fans. I have witnessed 3 Texas wins and like you, have good things to say about their fans. Hookem Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 10, 2008 Super User Posted January 10, 2008 Ohio State was shutdown on offense, defense, and special teams. Ohio State had the game's leading rusher in sophomore Beanie Wells, who gained 146 yards on 20 carries and scored the first touchdown of the game. Wells gained 118 yards on his first seven carries in the first quarter, which leaves 28 yards to be spread over his final 13 carries and 3 quarters. That my friend is a shutdown T. Boeckman was 15- 26 for 208 yds, 2 TD 2 Int; sacked 5 times, was laid flat on this back 7 times and the 2 TD passes were give me's. That my friend is a shutdown Third Down Efficiency 3-13, 2 interceptions, NET YARDS RUSHING of 145 including a 65 yard 1st quarter run and a blocked field goal That my friend is a shutdown Against the vaunted #1defense LSU was First Downs: 25 Third Down Efficiency: 11-18 Total Plays: 76 for LSU to 56 for OSU M. Flynn: 19-27 for 174 or 70.4% 4 TD, 1 int, sacked 1 Oh you want to talk about penalties 7-4 OSU If you want to believe OSU beat their self go ahead or if you want to believe you didn't expect to go 11-1 go ahead but explain to me 0-9 vs the SEC. And Matt Oct. 25th 2008 Georgia @ LSU Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 10, 2008 Super User Posted January 10, 2008 Oh yea as for Georgia your losses were against South Carolina and Tennessee both of whom LSU beat, you need win your division and your conference. And USC beat a 4-8 40 point underdog Stanford at home Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 10, 2008 Super User Posted January 10, 2008 No Catt, you are totally wrong. USC LOST to a 40-point underdog at home. Quote
