Fisher of Men Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 The way college football has been going this year, it's hard to pick, but here you go: LSU- 14 OSU- 10 Am I the only one who see's this game much more lackluster than any other NC's of the past? Is part of it due to scheduling it so far away from the other bowl games? IMO, I would rather see the bowl games done by Jan. 1. I'm not even sure if these are the two best teams in the country. Two words (although it will NEVER happen): Playoff system Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted January 7, 2008 Super User Posted January 7, 2008 There is not one team that is dominate this year. If you don't ever put emphasis on strength of schedule and reward points for quality wins, then what prevents teams like Florida and Michigan and others from scheduling more Div. IIA colleges to play. okay, i'll play along. USC now takes Notre Dame off schedule, why should they keep them on the schedule? Notre Dame according to history is winning college, so they will be again. Why play them when playing cream puffs will do the same, except, the odds of losing are in your favor, so having good record in the end will get you playoff spot. And so, you will have 50 teams playing no ones because you aren't penalized for it, and yet, you are rewarded for it. Look at Kansas this year. Not one quality opponent until the orange Bowl, I should of said, not one quality win until VT. How do you know the SEC is the conference to beat. Michigan took the Heisman trophy winners team and beat them pretty good. Then again, Michigan got beat by a Div II college, Unless they play good known programs before hand, how do you gage the parity of one conference over another? By a handful of Bowl games. Last year, USC beat Ark in Ark who by the way, was SEC west champs, 70-10, Ark. only loss until SEC championship game between Florida and ARk. Florida spanked them good also. USC rips them and so does Florida. Arkansas had only one loss at the time. So what does that say about the SEC west? Not enough info to form clear judgement from one game. If teams take the easy way out, don't schedule any one, there will be 16 teams trying to get 8 playoff spots with teams crying the very same thing they do on Bowl selection week Its not gonna be fair with playoffs either under current criteria. Super User Matt Fly Posted January 7, 2008 Super User Posted January 7, 2008 In short, OSU. All my Big Xii buddies want OSU to lose, so there will be only one ranked team with one loss. Kansas, who didn't earn the Orange Bowl bid. Then there are those that say SEC is greatest show on turf. So another trophy there just makes their egos over inflated. OSU to win please. Quote

Super User 5bass Posted January 7, 2008 Super User Posted January 7, 2008 Which one? the one where Boise State beats Oklahoma? Or, the one where West virginia beats Oklahoma? OUCH! ....and good one Matt As for tonights "Championship Game", I don't like either team but I don't like LSU more. I'm really hoping that Ohio State wins so there will be a "clear" National Champ with only the one loss. Quote

Super User Matt Fly Posted January 7, 2008 Super User Posted January 7, 2008 ;D ;D ;D I am truly sorry Hookem, I forgot to put Ohio State beat the heavily favored Canes also. OSU was not supposed to be fast enough to make a game of it. Good luck to Catt, he is devoted fan like myself to the Big XII. I have had SEC pounded at me all season. Thus I dislike OSU very much, and the SEC. If OSU wins, there are two teams with one loss in top ten. The winner of this one will be the first team in "BCS History" to win it TWICE!!!!!! I know that if the SEC wins, I'll hear about the SEC for who know how long!!!!!!! I'll be pulling for LSU tonight, change of heart, I don't personally know any OSU fans that I remember. Can't think of a nicer guy than Catt who loves his football and the Tigers. Go Tigers!!!! He can think UT for beating USC. USC would have been the first team to win the BCS Title TWICE!!!!!! Good Luck Tonite Catt!!!!!!! Hookem Matt Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 7, 2008 Super User Posted January 7, 2008 The tigers will win but I aint putting a score up or giving any points Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 7, 2008 Super User Posted January 7, 2008 I just want a good game x2 and an LSU win Quote
7magJake Posted January 7, 2008 Posted January 7, 2008 Some of you guys are giving OSU way too much credit. First off who have they played this year? The best team Michigan who beat florida who Lost to LSU. Okay who did OSU lose too? Illinois? WHO THE HECK IS ILLINOIS? I say LSU 35 OSU 21. LSU has more talent in their best playersFlynn( I actually think he is a good QB he has more brains than Perilloux) Hester( Hes A BEAST! I think he toted the whole Tennesse Defense one time in the SEC championship game, I dont think Glen Dorsey is really all that good everyitme LSU starts to lose he mysteriously gets hurt hmmm? Craig Steltz the best darn safety around. LSU is too much for OSU to handle. OSU has had a easy season. If you think OSU is gonna win you may be right but it will be really close the whole game I say the tigers D keeps them under 21 points. Rember OSU is 0-8 in bowl games against the SEC. SEC is the best conference in College football. Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted January 8, 2008 Super User Posted January 8, 2008 LSU 38 OSU 35 after 2OT I hope this game is this exciting, too long until college football is on again. :-/ Quote

Also the won their third straight National Championship. Big T Quote

Super User roadwarrior Posted January 8, 2008 Author Super User Posted January 8, 2008 SEC is the best conference in College football. Exactly why ALL Big 12 fans ALWAYS root for the "other guys"! So, if OSU wins is Kansas #2 or is it THE University of Missouri Tigers? : 8-) Quote
