rondef Posted January 5, 2008 Author Posted January 5, 2008 It is legal to steal signals and information in the NFL, you just can't use a video camera. On another note, the Jets did the same thing last year at Foxboro, in the Pats stadium so both teams have a history of doing this. Quote
Super User Tin Posted January 5, 2008 Super User Posted January 5, 2008 ^lol pond hopper. I recognize that the Pats' record is almost certainly not a result of cheating but the NFL fined Belichick for cheating. As a coach, he violated the rules set by the NFL, therefore, he should not be eligible for ANY league award. That being said, this was not a league award, so people can choose who they want (and the way the Pats have played makes Belichick a good choice) but it would be wrong to award a person who was punished earlier in the season for violating league rules. It was from the Associated Press., not the NFL. Quote
Jake. Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 Ok so can anyone tell me the Pats record since "Spy-Gate"? And what was their average margin of victory? It should be 15-1. Getting caught INTENTIONALLY and KNOWINGLY cheating should result in forfeiting the game. Not just erasing the game from history and pretending it never happened. : Quote

When the OU football was accused of "failing to monitor" two players who had been payed for work they didn't actually complete off campus, OU had to erase all the wins in which the two players had played in the game. The same thing should be enforced on the Patriots. They should have to give up that win in which they were caught cheating in. I didn't mean they should have to cancel the game all together, that would be unfair to the Jets. Quote

Rondef You all ways seem to have alot to say about the Pats. Its just a shame you never seem to get the facts or stats right. When the Jets did it they had permision from the pats, and also from the NFL. They were doing endzone shots not sneaking around stealing signals (spygate) disgraceful. Now it seems that this(cheating)has been going on for awhile probably since he was with the Browns. So do I think there should be a * next to 16-0* You better belive it,also 3 superbowl wins* that's right and anything else Bill Belicheat * has had his hands on.Its is a shame a dam shame. And it dosen't matter what you or anyone else says True or not, this has tarnished the pats record and anythig else they do this year for all time. All thanks to the NFL coach of the year Truly great men have no need to cheat Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted January 6, 2008 Super User Posted January 6, 2008 Cheating is cheating, it has been going on for along time. Defenses normally don't change signals, thus any time you see a no huddle offense setting at the line of scrimage, and you recognize the calls coming in, you can call the correct play and make reads. Or just call audibles. One advantage gained was an unfair advantage during any game. Did the League not penalized the Owner and Coach? $$$$$$ and draft choice. I think that constituted guilty. I call that an advantage. Too many other Pros said "they all do it, they just didn't get ratted on, or haven't been caught. As for the Pats, its for each individual to select what regards the Pats season is held in. I know that in my mind, the Patriots have set the BAR Higher than any other offensive performance in history. They were a well oiled machine. Their defense would be questionalbe amoung some of the great teams. They earned their way into history. Also, I'm sure that the coach didn't take a vote on whether to tape or not tape. There was alot of sweat endured by players. In short, their efforts, the players sweat that earned 16-0. As for the AP award for COY, its media driven. LOL Did you think it would be any different?? The Media is driving the bus, and they love these threads. Quote
