Fish Man Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 ok ill start off by saying i may be biased by saying this because it hppened to my team but in the redskins game there have been two big penalties that i think need to be changed.first they got our gunner on a punt because he went out of bounds and touched the ball but the ball bounced into his leg and he had no intention of touching it, second they got us for running into the kicker when a player dove and came up short but after punting the ball and coming forward he fell on our guy and he got flagged. i personally think these are two stupid rules becaus eboth players had no intention of comiting a foul and couldnt help it or stop it from happening sorry for y rant but i just had to stop ylling at the tv for a second lol Quote
preach4bass Posted January 5, 2008 Posted January 5, 2008 I think you are a little bias. ;D Seriously though, if they didn't call penalties because players had no "intent" of committing them, there would never be a flag thrown. If there were, they would have to give each "guilty" player a lie detector test to see if he honestly intended to committ the penalty, or of he did it by accident. The rules are pretty good the way they are...even when they don't help our teams win. Of course, this is from a Cowboys to a Redskins fan. Quote

Super User Sam Posted January 5, 2008 Super User Posted January 5, 2008 Da rules are da rules. That's why you are taught to run away from the ball if you are not going to field a punt. Also, they have to protect the punter as the punter is very vunerable to a serious injury if he is hit while in the air. And the refs have to throw their flags as they are graded on each play by the NFL and if they want to move on in the playoffs they have to grad out very high. Plus the fact that if you are a ref it is fun to throw the flag. Now for the Redskins to score two touchdowns!!!!! Quote
