bowtech_182 Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 In the middle the lake is 4-7 feet deep and is full of this weed. I have caught a couple of chain pickeral on a spinnerbait and a couple of bass on a lipless crank. Can you give me some suggestions on what else to throw in the middle of this lake Quote
wisturkeyhunter Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 Try and find an edge or hole in the weeds something different then fish with plastics slow. Spinner baits and jigs are also good baits to use. Quote
bowtech_182 Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 should I be trying to pitch the bait, or make long casts? Quote
jfowler Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 im in the upstate as well, where are you fishing? Quote
Bass XL Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Rattle traps!!! Throw it out, and when it hits the tips of the weeds (hydrilla) just rip it out. Quote
Super User Catt Posted May 14, 2008 Super User Posted May 14, 2008 Texas Rigged Plastic or a 3/8 oz Jig-N-Craw Quote
bowtech_182 Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 im in the upstate as well, where are you fishing? Lake Cunningham Catt, should I use little or lots of weight. I have tried a t-rigged dinger with a 1/4oz sinker and was having issues making it all the way to the bottom. Quote
jfowler Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 i gre up less than 10 minutes from there, try a 6 or 9 inch paddletail worm in junebug color, on a 2/0 ewg hook in the holes and edges of the grass( fish it sloooow) , in the mornings you can burn a shallow crank over the top of the grass like a manns -1 good luck ( ever fish robinson) Quote

Super User Catt Posted May 14, 2008 Super User Posted May 14, 2008 Have a look at my post Grass-N-Bass and we'll get into discussing techniques for fishing grass. Quote
SissySticks Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 A bait people used to throw all the time in that situation that seems to have fallen out of favor is a slug-go. You could also use a zoom fluke. Won't get snagged, and doesn't pick up too many weeds. Quote
Big-O Posted May 16, 2008 Posted May 16, 2008 Agree with the edge locations first then open pocket edges usind tx rig worms and jigs. Big O Quote
