Other. Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 (Total Distance/Average MPG) Gas Price 1-way: $6.20 So its really $12.40 cents because you have to get there and get back. Quote
Super User Gatorbassman Posted December 30, 2007 Super User Posted December 30, 2007 I am two hours from four different BPS. I don't go unless I'm in the area for something else. Quote
EastTexasBassin Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 I live about four hundred yards from a BPS, I have to pass 'Bass Pro Drive' to come home every day. I'm having a hard time staying out of the place. Its just one exit before mine on the Freeway. When I come up on the 'Bass Pro Dr' exit, this little voice in the back of my head says "Lets just stop in for a minute" Quote
Joel W Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 The closet BPS to me is 237 miles one way. A little more then 4 hours. The round trip would cost me about $120. That's why I've only bought from them and Cabela's via the internet. Going to be making my 1st journey this Feb or March. Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 30, 2007 Super User Posted December 30, 2007 About $20, and just a long enough drive so I'm not there every week blowing my paycheck. Quote
Joel W Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 After reading some of these posts, I'm kind of glad that I don't live anywhere near a BPS. I have a Dicks less then 15 min from me and I'm there nearly every week come the fishing season. I shudder to think not only how much I would spend, but how much needless tackle I would be lugging back and forth expecting my latest purchases to be my next great confidence bait : Quote
krisjack69 Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 The closest bps is about a 2 hour drive to macon. There is no dicks or anything like that in albany ga.There's this store http://www.backwoodsoutdoors.com/ and american outfitters and thats it.I wish they would build a bps or a cabelas here.closest cabelas to me is like 350 or so miles from me. Garnet Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Back in the day 15 years ago I said to sweet pea. "want to go to Branson and see some shows?" Never missed a beat "isn't that were the BPs is" 27 hrs we were there. Now BPS is about 1 hr. Garnet Quote
flippincrazy Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 Its about an hour away. I always make sure I spend enough money to make the trip worth while. ;D Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted December 31, 2007 Super User Posted December 31, 2007 The closest one to me is in Baltimore, MD. I think they are building one in Pittsburg, PA. That will be less than 2 hours then. I do 95% of my tackle purchases online anyway. I hardly ever pay retail. Quote
John Cullum Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 I have a BPS,Cabelas,Gander Mountine and Dicks all within 30 minutes of me. They just built the Cabelas and BPS within the last year around 25 minutes away from eachother same expressway. Quote
KevO Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 About 20 miles and just far enough so I only go once in a while. Quote

Super User Sam Posted December 31, 2007 Super User Posted December 31, 2007 $.485/mile for 80 miles = $38.80. IRS allows $.485/mile for vehicle use in business so I am using that figure. Quote
Other. Posted December 31, 2007 Author Posted December 31, 2007 To get the cost go to the BPS site get the address to the closest one to you. Go to your desired site to get a map (I prefer maps.google.com) Put in your address and it should tell you how many miles it is. Now just use the formula (Total Distance / Average MPG) Cost Of Gas. In my area it is $2.80 use what price it is in your area. Quote
Cory20 Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 It's about 10$ there and back for me. For every 3 things that go in the basket, 2 get put back on the shelf...it's fun. Quote
luckyinkentucky Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 110 miles for me at around 19 cents a mile! So, it costs me about $20 to get there and back. Plus my food stop along the way, and the wife's Starbucks while we are there. Then you add sales tax! I'd probably be better off just ordering online, because it costs me more to go there than it would be to ship it. I spent $16 in tax last time I went. That could have been almost all of my shipping costs for the same amount of stuff had I ordered it. Most of my orders can be shipped for less than $25. By the time I go there I've wasted a total of 5 hours of my day to get there, shop, and get back. Then I've spent $40 in gas, food, and extras. Then I add my tax for the purchase. I probably spend close to $65 just to get there and back with tax added on. Not to mention the fact that there are hardly ever sales going on that compare to the online sales. Then you have to go through the hassle with the sales clerk if something you want is on sale online, but not in the store. So, you spend another 10 minutes of your time having them price check everything to make sure it all works out. Thanks for waking me up to this fact. From now on I'll order online. ;D Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted December 31, 2007 Super User Posted December 31, 2007 I am 20 minutes away Quote
jdw174 Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 It's a 2 hour drive from my house to the one in Nashville, but 15 minutes up the road is a tackle shop that will order anything you want from the BPS catalog at the catalog price and there won't be any shipping charges. Quote
CGH Posted December 31, 2007 Posted December 31, 2007 15.9 mi About 20 minutes as long as trafic on 10 is not backed up! So my cost is about 35 to 50 a trip reguardless if I buy something from the Katy Mills Mall Bass Pro Shops or not. Star Bucks for her Food court for them Booksamillion for them Duckhunt shoot range at BPS for them Quote

For me Got two options: 380 dollars plane ticket + 220 dollars 1 hotel night, don 't pay transportation to BPS from the airport back & forth, BPS has shuttle from and to the airport. 500 dollars ( in gas + tolls + hotel + 24 hours sitting on my butt driving to it back & forth ) I guess I just beat all of you.
