I've got the silver PS2 slim edition, and was wondering, why would one want to upgrade to the playstation 3? I'm not no game expert, so help would be very much appreciated. Also, I would want it to be able to play ps2 games. I just need someone to give me a motive for buying the system.

Next Gen graphics...1080P High Def gaming...Blue Ray movies....love mine. Have owned it since the second week of the release. No problems at all.  ;)

I agree with matt. This system offers excellent graphics, really gives a true HD experience. It plays blu-ray dvds as well as normal dvds. As for its backwards compatability, it can play PS2 and PS1 games. If you get rock band (that is if you like the game) you can go onto the internet and download new songs to play, its like a rock band version of iTunes. I love mine and no problems have occurred either.

I don't hunt, but i do like hunting games. I think that there should be a hunting game for the PS3! High Definition hunting :D

A HD fishing game isnt a bad idea either... that is if it could sell enough copies for the game people to want to make it...

I would like to get a PS3, but for $600, I have more important expenses. Plus I need to make sure I have enough money left over to pay for all my fishing gear I purchase each year. Usually a good portion comes from my tax return though. Anyway, the graphics look much better than the PS2, they are much more detailed and life like. Plus it works as a High Def. Blue Ray DVD player.

I just have a question about PS3 and the graphics. If I hook it up to a regualr TV, not a flat screen, LCD or plasma or an HD TV, will I still notice a big diffference in graphics or do you need to hook it up to a high end TV to get the full effect?

To be honest i have no idea, i have never tried it. Maybe if you set the output to whatever the lowest setting is, you might see a difference in the graphics between the PS2 and PS3. Also a lot of HDTVs are not as expensive as you might think. If you get a gargantuan SONY HDTV then it will cost you, but there are some out that go to 1080p and cost less.

You wouldn't notice that much of a difference between the ps2 and 3 in regular tv. The capabilities of the ps3 were designed for an HD TV.  I really don't think that they have tapped into the technology that these next gen systems will be able to produce

Honestly, I would get an XBOX360 over a PS3. Just keep your ps2 to play the ps2 games and get a 360 to play new games, or at least wait until ps2 starts to release more games.

The ps3 has better hardware but you aren't going to be able to take advantage of it unless you spend money to get an hdtv and all the cables hooked up. If you are ready for that expense or already have an HDTV, go for a ps3 but otherwise, go for the 360. The 360 is selling the way it is for a reason, gamers know that it simply offers better games than the ps3 and the differences in hardware aren't that noticeable unless you have a nice home theater setup.

well no offense, but they must be doing something wrong. I know quite a few people who have 360s and none have had issues.

I have a Xbox360 I have had it for 2 years, this past weekend I got the red rings of death. I called Microsoft and they are sending me a pre paid box for shipping and are repairing or replacing for free. I will have to wait about 3 weeks total turn around, but atleast they are standing behind their product. The PS3 is awesome graphics wise, but my only complaint is that there isn't a lot of games out that I like.

Ask LBH about how many Xbox's we've been picking up and delivering. It's staggering. Just on my route alone I see at least 10-15 a week. No BS...

I'll stick with what works...my PS3.  ;)

Well, I haven't personally seen any malfunctions, but I would still say that the risk is still worth it with the xbox because there just aren't games for ps3. most gamers and game reviewers agree that the xbox is still a more practical buy for that very reason. If it does happen to break, just send it back...i think the off chance of waiting 3 weeks to get back a broken unit is well worth being able to play more games.
