Ky_Lake_Dude Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 No matter what Sagarin or anybody else has.....no 2 loss team should play for the National Championship. Even if they are the best team in the nation? Who's better? Hawaii. They got in the Sugar Bowl but deserve to be in the National Championship it is ridiculous that a 2 loss team gets in before an undefeated team like Hawaii. So what if they play in a non-BCS conference like the WAC, they still were the only team in the nation to be undefeated. I lost most of my faith in the BCS when Auburn went 13-0 and didn't get in the Title game. But I have none anymore now that LSU got in before Hawaii Quote
Super User 5bass Posted December 30, 2007 Super User Posted December 30, 2007 Catt, you're missing my point altogether. The way I see it is that there will not be a clear cut Champion this year (unless Ohio St wins, which I dont see happening). I agree, LSU has some good wins. They also have 2 losses against "reputable" ;D teams that they should have buried before halftime. Had they been able to beat the teams they were SUPPOSED to beat, I'd have no problem tipping my hat to LSU. And "Hawaii isn't a BCS team"?? Why then, are they even included in the rankings? Why do they even bother playing? .....seems going undefeated don't mean a whole lot these days. What happened to the underdog? I'd like to see an underdog play for the title.....especially with the most prolific QB in NCAA history behind center. Quote
Cajun1977 Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 if hawaii wants to be in the big game then let them play some big dogs next year and earn it,like i said before if you wanna play with the big dogs then put em on your schedule. And for the life of me i cant figure out why everyone is hatin on LSU instead of ohio state. weve been the most dominant college team the last ten years ..and whatever happened to hawaiis last prolific quarterback (timmy chang) when you play a bunch of nobodys and your an above average quarterback your gonna have numbers. Ty detmer comes to mind also ;D ;D if anyone got screwed this year it was missouri and the fact illinois took their bcs game even though the bcs is flawed we will never see a ployoff system ,and even if we did everyone will still be unhappy Quote

Super User Hookemdown. Posted December 30, 2007 Super User Posted December 30, 2007 This is why I love college football Quote
Cajun1977 Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 usc has only been good the last 5 years ,and split national title ;D ;Ddid they get a trophy ;D ;D fact#1 LSU is in the title game fact#2 Lsu will win the title game fact#3 your teams will be watching from the couch ;D no hard feelings fellas just callen em as i see em Quote
Big T Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Item #2 is not a fact unitl it happens it is only braggin. If they win I will be the first to give LSu it congrats. And USC has strong tradition for winning National Championships throughout its' history. And as I said until they have a true playoff like in baketball, which by the way will be won by the mighty North Carolina Tarheels ;D, it is all a bunch debating. No hard feelings extended or taken. Just a little good natured ribbing. Big T Quote

Super User Catt Posted December 30, 2007 Author Super User Posted December 30, 2007 Ok first you must understand the BCS, every team has to sign a contract agreeing to the BCS system Hawaii did not sign this agreement so therefore it is not the BCS who is at fault but rather Hawaii's athletic director. The BCS is acknowledging the underdog by at least ranking them. Next about the split championship, there is no such thing; it is a figment of Pete Carroll's imagination. The *** of the BCS was to stop split championships; the same contract that Hawaii has not signed USC has signed agreeing there would be only one recognized champion the Bowl Series Champion. Another myth is no 2 loss team has played for the championship but the truth is no 2 loss team has ever played in a BCS championship. 1959 Minnesota 8-2 & 9 times the champion had either 2 ties or 1 loss & 1 tie. You well a tie isn't really a loss but these teams including USC won despite other teams going having only one loss. The NCAA does not award a consensus national champion for Division I-A football. The NCAA guide lists 340 national championship selections in 137 seasons, an average of between two and three selections every year ever. The reason we do not have a playoff system is the PAC 10 & the Big Ten refuse the vote for one and they control the money in the NCAA but that is quickly changing with the SEC & the Big 12 gaining dominance. Big T Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Well I would figure that the LSU fans would say that so I am going to agree to disagree with you guys. Let's just say you all do not like USC and I do not like LSU. ;D Big T Quote
Pond Hopper Posted December 30, 2007 Posted December 30, 2007 Hasn't this been brought up before a couple million times??? About Hawaii, why should anyone have to sign a contract to be in the National Title game??? The best team in football is the best team. And I also have a hard time thinking that LSU, or almost any team is the best team in the nation. Ok people have bad games but no National Champ should get beat twice. Yeah they won some big games but national champs win them all! Either way I am sick of hearing and reading about LSU. Quote
Super User Catt Posted December 31, 2007 Author Super User Posted December 31, 2007 If you're sick of hearing about LSU why did you even open this topic? Why should Hawaii sign to join the BCS Pete Carroll did yet he still lies about a split championship. If you notice on the USC web site they are not holding the Crystal Ball of the BCS Champions that trophy resides in Baton Rouge. Going undefeated does not make you the best team out there; example 2007 Ohio State Buckeye finished the season 12-0 while the Florida Gators finished the season 12-1. Outcome Gators 41 Buckeyes 14 Quote
