Baby Brush Hogs

I have a fe Baby brushes I got from ***. How do you work these baits? I was given a offset worm hook with a jig head on it. It's weight is most likely 1/8 oz. Do I Jig it  or what?

I fish mine Texas rig. The weight depends on the depth, but I fish the lightest I can get away with. I consider it one of my go to baits.

I like to T-rig them with a bullet weight and a glass bead.

Trim off the front arms and cut off about 3/4" from the front and use them as jig trailers.

This is just personal but when T-rigged I pretty much just "crawl" it along SLOW. If you feel it going over something (like a branch) let it flutter up and down. Have fooled MR. Bass with this many times ...

I t-rig mine and usually bounce them off the bottom.  You'll love this bait.  IMO, its the best *** sales.

All rite then I guess I wasn't doing it wrong after all. I was worried b/c I was fishing lilly pads and it kept getting twisted and I was doing my best to let it on the bottom. So I am sure I'll catch on quick. What are the best baits to fish heavy cover such as lillys and cat tails?

Try a frog or a t-rigged worm.  Maybe even a spinnerbait or lipless crankbait along the edges.

The best bait in my opinion for lily pads is a WHITE spinnerbait make sure you use a white one. No matter the color of the water. Use a large spinnerbait that moves lots of water. and dont throw it into the pads (you will get hung up big time trust me haha) throw it along the outside the flash and the water movement will attract the bass. If that doesn't work well for you try pitching/ flipping a senko. Good Luck to you.

For lily pads, I would throw a frog ,like the new yum topwater baits. they are awesome. They move alot of water and attract bass from a good distance with the splashing. Or you could just try a popper, try walking the dog, or a buzzbait depending on the amount of pads, try a floating worm. You are not limited to anything but I'm sure you know that the bass will tell you what they want the most!!

Walking the dog is a technique that allows the top water bait to dart back and forth(side to side) on retrive.

Cast out the lure, keep your rod at any angle you like, keep about a foot of slack in your line and jerk the rod in a short caydence two to three or four at a time. You are actually only jerking the slack out each time not the lure. Let pause and repete. This is easily achieved with a topwater lure that tail sinks at about 30*; however, you can learn to do it with others as you learn. Examples would be the Zara Spook or my favorite the Lucky Craft 100 Sammy.
