I heard a story yesterday about a girl at one of local grocery stores telling a man Merry Christmas as she was leaving the store. He replied "you are not supposed to say that, it's not politically correct."

I guess it really bothered the teenage girl because she was just being nice to the guy.

It doesn't really seem like all that long ago where it was a good thing to tell someone Merry Christmas, now it is almost a crime. The whole mindset of most of our country gets on my nerves anymore. It seems like everything we say offends somebody else.

With that being said, I don't care who I offend. There is no "Winter Holiday" it is called Christmas and if you don't like it, that is fine, don't celebrate it. But leave my family and friends alone if we want to celebrate and be happy.

So to EVERYONE...........

MERRY CHRISTMAS :)

Hmmm..... I find both those stories hard to believe.  My BS meter is going crazy!   ::)

Not saying you guys didn't hear the stories.  I'm sure you did.  I just wouldn't put any credit behind them.

Glenn,

The girl that had that happened to her told our pastor. He in turn told all of us at church about it yesterday. I reckon it is possible that she lied to him, but I doubt it.

It was suggested at work that we say Happy Holidays but when I suggested they can accept my resignation now I was told I was just trying to cause problems; my replay was my Job Description  is retired so Merry Christmas Y'all.

You can thank the leftists for that.

Years ago, "Merry Christmas" was standard.  Now when someone says it to me, even though I love that people still say it to strangers, it strikes me as a risky thing to say, and I hate that.

Tony, don't mean for this to be a challenge to your post. If it is deemed to be too political, one of the moderators take care of it for me please.

I lean farther left than what you probably think is OK. I have never had a problem with "Merry Christmas" don't now and don't think I will in the future. None of my friends that share my views do either. Remember, there are extremeists on both sides of the fence ;)...

Happens often.  In my job, it's part of the process when you deliver to someone waiting for you, I say "One more for you" and I get a "Thank You, Happy Holidays" and I ALWAYS reply, "you too, Merry Christmas" (I admit, I say it just to see if people will object) I have never been "scorned" but I have been "told"

-I'm not religious

-Can you guys say that?

-You know, not everyone believes in Christmas..

etc.

again, never scolded but called on it,...all the time.

Sorry about that, I know I made a generalization, but you prove that there are exceptions to generalizations.  However, most geralizations are true regardless of how politically incorrect they are.

Anyway, the PC crew is, undoubtedly, more left-leaning than the average guy.  Glad to hear you don't have a problem with the phrase, but try to "help" some of your fellow leftists to share your view  :)

You guys must live in some weird places.  ;D   j/k

You never hear of that going on in my neck of the woods, which leans heavily to the left.  I guess folks in my area are just more accepting and tolerant of other's beliefs, even when they may not agree with it themselves. What a novel concept!

I have been ticked off several times from people saying "Merry Christmas" to me. However I know if I turn this into religious flare it will be deleted so I will say this in a way that should not offend people.

Me = Atheist, You = Religious. I do not want to be assumed of being Christian. I am sure several people here would get offended if I were to say some things.

Well, that's my point here.  If you (the athiest, muslim, Hindu, etc.) want me to be tolerant of your beliefs and accept you for who you are, then you have to accept my beliefs and accept me for who I am.

It's called tolerance.  And it goes both ways.  Getting upset and spitting out angry words does nothing to help the situation.

And on that note...

Merry Christmas, Feliz Navidad, Happy Holidays, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, and for you Athiests out there... have a nice day!  :D

Other, I consider myself an Agnostic.  I consider someone saying "Merry Christmas" to me to be a very pleasant experience, and I say "Merry Christmas" often.

To me, the Christmas season means a time for family, for giving and for sharing.  It holds no religious significance to me, but the coming together of family and friends is special.

So, instead of getting ticked off and standing on your soap box,  why don't you just accept "Merry Christmas" in the spirit that it is given?  i.e.  Best wishes to you and yours.

LOL, all day today I just said "Have a good one"

One guy went to say "Merry X-mas" then choked and said " Happy New Year" lmao.....

In reality, most people just grabbed the box and shut the door in my face..... at least the pizza delivery guy gets tips.... :-?

Yup, can't go wrong with "Have a good one". Never can guess who practices or doesn't practice what. So just go neutral.

I'm not that religous either, but I alway say merry christmas, etc just to keep the world in peace. :)

I tolerate everyone's belief. Believe what you want believe, but dont press it onto me. Your welcome tell me about it, but you dont need to get me to preach it.

Merry Christmas! When I'm told I cannot say it anymore or am arrested for saying it I will find another country, move there, speak the english language there, and apply for every benefit I can scam off their government. Maybe even send some money home every week also...If there are no bass there I will illegilly expand the bass's range to suit myself. Kinda like all these other critters everyone from everywhere else introduces into our waters for their enjoyment.

Me and most of my family and most my friends are " to the left" if we gotta use labels, and I have to tell you we all say MERRY CHRISTMAS and many go to religous services and such, although I say Merry Christmas and believe in God I don't have a religion

This crap is actually being generated by legal departments of major corpoprations, trying to prevent BS cases against them. Wal Mart being among the biggest culprits in the US.

Merry Christmas to all who believe in the Christmas spirit.

As for the BS flag, try googling Santa and arrested for Ho, ho , ho.

Seems there are places that has gave warning to Santa's and Ho, ho's!

Merry Christmas, and like JT, don't care, I have never meant no harm by wishing it upon some one, so, If I said it to you and it doesn't apply, please disregard, no malice intended in the first place.

Merry Christmas!!!!!!

Yeah but guess who is filing the BS cases that have to be defended against because the cases are actually working?  And guess who the judges are that are ruling in favor of the BS cases?

I have no problem with the political beliefs of individuals, at all.  My problem is with the liberal mentality of judges and plaitiffs in these types of cases, among others.  These types of cases are an embarrassment, IMO, and they distract us from real the real issues.
