That was funny.

But if you want to listen to a man in a tuxedo sing a Chrstmas song.

Behold.

Lucianno Pavoratti - The greatest voice of the modern era.

And for those of you who have no exposure to classical singing, allow me to introduce you.

Nessun Dorma, the most widely recognized aria in Opera, performed brilliantly by the maestro himself. Open your heart, listen, enjoy.

with love,

avid

Avid, did you find it strange that he was reading from the sheet music?  I would have thought that Ave Maria was so totally burned into his brain that he would sing it from memory.

Pavarotti is o.k.   He has stated on several occasions that his former student, Andrea Bocelli, is a force to be recognized.  So much that Pavarotti refused to sing in the same programs as Bocelli.   ;D

Another thing that makes Bocelli a better vocalist, in my opinion, is the fact that he is blind.

Pavarotti was a great vocalist, however.

XM started its Clasical Christmas songs on Channel 113, the Pops Channel, and to say the least the carols and other songs and instrumentals have been fantastic.

Opera, classical, piano, brass, choirs. strings, winds, drums...you name it and they have or had it.  And every one was excellent.

Talk about some wonderful singing.  All the opera stars you can think of.  Beautiful voices.  What power.  What presence.  Outstanding.

I am sorry they will be stopping.  It is a pleasure to ride down the road and listed the the great voices of out time and all of the orchastras and choirs from around the world.

If you all have XM, give 113 a try.  You will not be sorry.

Hey, if Bocelli and Pavarotti are/were such great singers, how come neither of them ever made it to the Grand Ol' Opry?  ;D

It is the "opinion" of Bocelli, the NY Metropolitan Opera Company, and Julliard School of Music that no ever mastered one of the hardest Tenor pieces in Puccini's Pallaci like Pavorotti, Bocelli said it himself at Pavorotti's funeral. Perhaps this is why Bocelli studied with him

As far as the blind thing goes, when I studied drums in New Orleans part of my lesson and playing time was done in complete darkness, to get the feel of the skins and to be able to understand time and motion wit5hout distraction. Being blind doesnt make musicans such as Ray Charels better musicans it does however demonstrate what many people who have disabilities tell us: It makes it hard but not impossible

they have have/had more talent then 10 of me EVER will...  ahhh to be able to sing like that... amazing...

but I personally prefer Bocelli... but that doesn't mean that Povorotti wasn't or isn't better... its my preference...
