Super User grimlin Posted December 19, 2007 Super User Posted December 19, 2007 Looks like he was trying to get whatever he broke off just before he slipped. Man,sucks to be him.... Quote
luckyinkentucky Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Reminds me of a story my Grandad told me about when he was a State Trooper in Island, KY back in the '50s. He got a call around 3 a.m. in the morning about a man they had found in a tree not too far from where my Grandparents lived. He went out to check it out, and there was a black man .... hanging in a tree with a suicide note pinned to his chest. The man had his left arm hanging freely beside him, but his right hand was in his back pocket. My Grandad pulled his hand out to see what he was reaching for, and it was a pocket knife. Evidently the man had changed his mind at the last minute, but it was too late. Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted December 19, 2007 Super User Posted December 19, 2007 come on guys, use your head he's a base jumper. the thing that was in his hand was the miniature parachute that would open his main chute. he must have been getting it ready to deploy Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 19, 2007 Super User Posted December 19, 2007 Where did this happen? Did not see it on TV or hear about it on the radio. Quote

It looked more like a ragdoll head on a stick with a pair of child's coveralls to me. Maybe he was trying to make a statement to someone, and ended up screwing up. Then again, it could have been an edited video. You never can tell these days if a video is authentic or not. Quote
Lucky Craft Man Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I saw that clip from a DVD called "The Best of Banned From TV." During the narration of the situation, the guy climbed up there to commit suicide, but changed his mind. The wind was so strong up there that it blew him off before the guy could climb down. Quote
slomoe Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 ya I figured this was a botched cry for help. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted December 19, 2007 Super User Posted December 19, 2007 Wonder how loud he cried for help on his way down? Sick, if he was under the care of a doctor he better have his notes all in order. Family will seek revenge & the almighty dollar if he had prescription meds in his body. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted December 19, 2007 Super User Posted December 19, 2007 I don't know if this is true, but somebody once told me If you fall and know you aren't coming out alive your body goes into a shock like a heart attack and die in the mid fall. Quote
Super User Raul Posted December 19, 2007 Super User Posted December 19, 2007 Not true Grimlin, you remain concient all the way down to the floor. There are many documented cases of sky divers which for one reason or another have had problems with their chutes and survived the fall, they all say the same, you remain concient until you hit the ground. And here we are talking about terminal velocity which around 250 km/hr. Quote
maxke01 Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 Guess whats meant to be is done. Sucks that he tried to change his mind and it still happened though Quote
luckyinkentucky Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 How many G's are on the human body at 124 mph? Terminal velocity of a skydiver is 124 mph. Quote
Super User Micro Posted December 20, 2007 Super User Posted December 20, 2007 How many G's are on the human body at 124 mph? Terminal velocity of a skydiver is 124 mph. None. In free fall at terminal velocity its the same as being weightless. It's the Gs when you hit that are the killer. Quote
