My Bird dog whimpers when he sleeps

My bird dog whimpers and moves his legs like he is running some times when he is asleep. Any one know why? He's fixed and I don't know what he's dreaming of or if he is running from a giant tom cat. Any suggestions???

a few years ago we had a golden retriever but we never used her to hunt, she did this very often an we just left it at that, dont think tis problem or anything to worry about

i watched a show about dreaming and it said that pets dream too and you can tell they dream because they make noises and twitch and move and stuff.....so yeah your dog is dreaming. its all cool

My dog whimperd in his sleep. He is just having a dream, probably a nightmare or something. You know humans are not the only things that dream

every dog I owned used to do did this. I always figured Lola was dreaming about getting up on the counter to eat the peanut butter.

We believed she was dreaming.

It was funny to watch her do this.

I agree with the dream theory. Our lab does the same thing and the vet said he was probably dreaming.
