Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 18, 2007 Super User Posted December 18, 2007 I am going to assume that there are no vegetarians on this board. There are two places that make my mouth water just thinking about them. Mortons in San jose, CA is very consistent. Their bone in New York is absolutley magnificent. Joe's Seafood Steak and Snow Crab in Las Vegas is a close second. I know Joe's is Gidget's favorite place in the world, she swears that the cows that provide their steaks there die to classical music. ;D Quote
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted December 18, 2007 Super User Posted December 18, 2007 I'd have to agree that Mortons is pretty much one of the best chain steak houses. Ruth Chris' is pretty good too. I'm sure there is gonna be some cracker on here saying it's Outback or Roadhouse though. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted December 18, 2007 Super User Posted December 18, 2007 I'd have to agree that Mortons is pretty much one of the best chain steak houses. Ruth Chris' is pretty good too.. Those would be my picks. I probably like Ruth's slightly more. Quote
Super User grimlin Posted December 18, 2007 Super User Posted December 18, 2007 Fire mountain steak house in MI. There was one steakhouse that served alligators, rattlesnake and quail in TX,for the love of me i don't remember the name now.It was EXCELLENT! It was also extremely pricey!Well worth it though.I've only been there once.It was somewhere in the downtown area of Dallas.I wish i remembered where and what the name was. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 18, 2007 Super User Posted December 18, 2007 Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. Quote
Guest muddy Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 The oldest steakhouse in the US: PETER LUGERS IN BROOKLYN Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 If you are "in the know", you can score a pretty mean Filet draped in Gorgonzola at the LBH Clubhouse in Greenwich, RI Price is right, too Quote
Guest muddy Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Steaks are pretty good at CHEZ RISK KID"S IN TENN. ALSO!!!!! Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Muddy, I've heard stories about that place, all good Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 18, 2007 Super User Posted December 18, 2007 Plaza III in Kansas City is THE BOMB! http://www.plazaiiisteakhouse.com/ Quote
slomoe Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 outback.. j/k I've never really been to a quality steak house. But I just recently went to this place called Malibu's. Its a Carniceria. Pretty much all you can eat meat, with a few side options like rice, and fried plantains. They give you this block, one side green, and one side is red. As long as the block is sitting green side up on your table, the waiters will bring all different types of meat. Sausage, steak, lamb, chicken, Bacon wrapped turkey, and ribs. Flip it to red when you need to loosen the belt and take a break. Quote
tyrius. Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Ahh steak. A little (well hopefully not too little) slice of heaven on a plate. My favorites are dependant upon the type of steak I want. Filet is Smith and Wollensky New York Strip is the Chicago Chop House Prime Rib is Lawry's If I just want to absolutely gorge myself on excellent meat it is Fogo de Chao. Morton's and Ruth's Chris are also very good for a group of people who have differing favorites. Quote
Fishing Doug Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 My favorite is Annie Gunn's here in St. Louis. A close second and third place is Morton's and Ruth's Chris-which I can both walk to from my office or house. ;D Quote
Panamoka_Bassin Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 When Muddy's right, he's right...Peter Luger's tops them all! Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Ruth's Chris NY Strip. Love how it comes out sizzling and all buttery and delicious. Oh my god I'm starving. Quote
Fisher of Men Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 I'm with Sloemoe. Perhaps I haven't been to many "upscale" places for a steak. I kind of like the Saltgrass chain here in Texas. It has been my experience that it's hard to beat my favorite: Abbott's steakhouse, right here on my back porch. I'd just as soon grill my own, and for the most part, it's better than most places I've ever been to. Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted December 18, 2007 Author Super User Posted December 18, 2007 The oldest steakhouse in the US: PETER LUGERS IN BROOKLYN I've heard that this is the best steak house in the USA. I can't wait to go and try for myself. I have a friend in LA who is a majore "foodie". he tells me about a secret beef restaurant in LA where it doenst matter how famous or infamous you are, if you dont know someone you arent getting in. Its like a 2 month wait to get in as well. We're supposed to go sometime next month. Quote
RiskKid. Posted December 18, 2007 Posted December 18, 2007 Muddy, I've heard stories about that place, all good You have a reservation and a gift certificate for a complimentary meal! Quote

Private room. 7:30? That will be fine, sir. We look forward to seeing you, again. Quote
mattm Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 I'll throw a vote in for Del Frisco's. Haven't eaten at Ruth's Cris steakhouse though. We do have one opening up right across the street from Del Frisco's though and i'm dying to give it a try. I think that last year or the year before Bob's Steak and chophouse won 1 or 2 and i think it is way overrated. Quote
Cajun1977 Posted December 19, 2007 Posted December 19, 2007 im with fisher of men, when we go out i usually dont order steak cause i like the ones i grill anyway ,i usually try something else, but the best restaurant i have eaten at has to be Emerals the one in vegas and the one in louisiana both are great places to eat Quote
