I don't need them comming to my funeral becasue of a heat attack. Right now iam about 320. Iam hoping to get at least to 210-220 by next year at this time. I have no problem loseing weight. I just cant seem to lose more. I will also start this after christmas break. Going on a diet durning the holidays suck I was on one a few weeks ago. Iam justy glad I like good foods. That is going to make it easier. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 14, 2007 Super User Posted December 14, 2007 Tipp, Good for you. I am also going on a diet and will be walking in the pool after Christmas. I want to lose 20 to 25 pounds. Let's keep in touch to see how we are doing. Good luck. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 I've gained 40 lbs (the size of a lunker striper) in the last two years. Gonna try to lose it all starting 2008. That's gonna be my New Year's resolution. Tell you what though, it ain't easy. I like to eat a lot when I'm hungry and shore fishing is my idea of exercise. "Aren't you supposed to be on a diet?" "LAY OFFA ME I'M STARVING!!" - one of my all-time favorite Chris Farley moments ;D Quote
Big T Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Hey Tipp, Good for you! My wife and I hve started any exercise, diet program. Watch your carbs. Try to eat foods with higher protein and lower carb counts. When eating carbs take the total carbs minus fiber. That get your net carbs. Also if you drink alot of sodas, switch to diet soda or water even better. If you are exercising you will build muscle which weighs more than fat so do not get discouraged if you are not losing pounds. A better indicator will be in how many inches you lose from you waist and arms, etc. Soon as you get accustomed to eating differently some foods will not taste the same, for instance my wife and I have cut out fried food for the most part. Last week I decided I wanted some fried shrimp and catfish. It did not taste them same and made both of us sick to our stomachs (grease) Anyway good luck to you! Big T Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 14, 2007 Super User Posted December 14, 2007 I did the same thing this time last year. I had put on more than the "Freshman 15" and got up to 256. I watched my carbs, took in a lot of protein and started drinking a lot of h2o. Once a week I might spoil myself and have a not so good meal. Now 350 days later, I'm 196.8. No matter what stick to it and don't say I will start tomorrow or the next day, just do it. Good luck. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Exercise,....and LOTS of it! Quote
michbass Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Just try not to bounce your weight around to often like a yo yo. It is hard on your system. Best of luck and good idea to enjoy the Holidays before starting. Food intake and exercise is key. Take some before pics and use them for motivation when you hit a slump. Quote
frogtog Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Way to go Tip. I weigh about 220 and this use to come in handy when I use to scrap a lot. ;D But know I'm to old to scrap and I still have the weight. I don't eat but once a day and that is at 6 or 7 in the evenings. I am highly active also, I mean like wide open all day. I can lose 15 pounds in three or four days but I gain it right back. :-/ I sure would love to get down to about 185 and quit smoking, that would be great. Quote
rondef Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Good for you Tipp, I am losing weight as well. I have lost about 30 pounds becase I am on the fine line of being a diabetic. Weight plays a huge factor in the equation. I started eaitng less, cutting way back on carbs and I only drink water (flavored water from Walmart). I eat Tuna and I make wraps for meals by cooking beef, chicken or fish and putting it in a wrap and warming the wrap in my George Forman grill, this is working well for me. The hardest part was eliminating the booze during football season. My doctor wants me to quit drinking alcohol completely until I drop down another 30lbs. I was at 250lbs and I am currently at 219lbs and my goal is 190lbs. Quote
jeremyt Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 Frog, They are sort of like soft shells for taco's. Tipp, I commend you for doing this and for the right reasons. Try to eat 6 small meals a day. It will help get your metabolism up. It sucks to start with, but after a week or two you will notice a change in your energy. Remember its not what you eat, but how much. Treat yourself once or twice a month. Drink as much water as you can stand. If you haven't done so I would suggest getting a physical before you try too much strenious activity ( just to make sure everything is in good working order) Find a activity that you enjoy, it will make it easier to stay on the goal. Don't weigh your self every night, or week. Maybe once or twice a month, if you pay attention to it everyday you won't see as much of a gain. When you don't feel like going anymore, just remember why you are doing it. Most of all good luck. Quote
Big T Posted December 15, 2007 Posted December 15, 2007 I think he means like fajita wraps or pita bread. It's better and lower in carbs than regular bread. I eat double fiber bread for sandwiches. I am not what you would consider overweight, 172# currently. I was 180 once but looked like I weighed 250. It was all in my gut. I tend to eat a low carb diet because my wife is overweight and does the low carb diet. I initially started doing as support for her, because after three miscarriages she had put on 30 pounds in two years. However I feel better overall and I am helping my wife in the process. tipptruck1 Posted December 17, 2007 Author Posted December 17, 2007 Thanks guys. I rember that muscle weights more then fat. I take raw carrots, celery and a buch of other things like that and can eat them all day. I cant stand the taste of how they taste after you cook them. I will keep you guys up to date. Quote
senko_77 Posted December 17, 2007 Posted December 17, 2007 Go get em Erik. About 2 years ago I weighed about 230 at my heaviest and I was about 5'5". I'm now 6ft even and weigh 160. The biggest thing for me was settling in and not looking for immediate results. Gradual results are hard to see, so take a picture of yourself now and look at it in 2 or 3 months. We're here for you if you need any help staying locked on your goal. You CAN do it and I know you will Quote
tipptruck1 Posted December 17, 2007 Author Posted December 17, 2007 Ryan I tought you looked a little chuby in your profile pic. Iam not expecting to wake up next year one morning looking good. Quote
