Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Whether the world ends, the calendar ends, whatever,...UPS will still have me out delivering boxes,...trust me. ;D "All staff are required to report at the normal start times on Monday, Dec 23rd, 2012. We foresee no break in service due to the recent apocalypse. Thank you." Quote
CGH Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Just like all the other so called very advanced ancient civilizations, The Maya have all come and gone just like the Dooms Day predictions that they leave behind Dec 21, 2012 Maya Day of the Doom. Friday Dec 21, 2012 I hope to off and heading out to the lake for a great weekend of fishing or hunting for that matter. As Ronnie qouted "No one knows about that day or hour , not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son. But only the Father. MATTHEW 25:36 Amen to that. So enjoy the time you have and don't worry abour the hour or the day when it will all end. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 Robert, were you trying to learn something from your post, (e.g. data gathering) or were you trying to make some sort of point? With all due respect, this sort of post achieves nothing. Tomorrow, I'm going to post that the Farmers Almanac predicts that the world will end on January 12, 2008. I may or may not receive a response, but I hope all responses quote Shakespeare to me "... A tale told by an idiot. Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing." There is an old adage. If the shoe fits, wear it. I think the shoe will fit both of us tomorrow. Dang,...someone pee in the Bud light?? Quote

luckyinkentucky Posted December 16, 2007 Posted December 16, 2007 According to their calendar, the Maya (a very advanced ancient civilization) believed that the world would end on Dec 21, 2012. Of all the dates put forth by prophets and various other advanced cultures for a doomsday, this is one with an authentic almost eerie feel to it. NASA predicts that the Sun will also reverse its own magnetic poles during 2012 as result of reaching the end of the current 11-year sunspot cycle. book Apocalypse 2012: A Scientific Investigation into Civilization's End by Lawrence Joseph reviews a number of 2012 predictions made by various sources, and presents arguments for the possible existence of dangerous positive feedback loops involving solar storms, Earth's magnetic field, cosmic rays, hurricanes, global warming, earthquakes, and supervolcanoes that may be on the verge of erupting. what will happen? It's really hard to say. I tend to err to the side of science, and lean away from religious beliefs in things pertaining to the end of the world. Even though the Mayans were a highly advanced tribe, I find it hard to believe that they would be able to predict the end of the world with their technology at the time. I believe things may happen, but I do not think the world will end in 2012. Well, unless some religious nut job decides to push that 'Little Red Button' on that day. ;D Then life would be a lot more complicated for everyone. Then again, it might be interesting to find out how some people handle the world as we know it being wiped clean. ;D No technologies, and everyone starts back at square one. Although, that is a far cry from reality. I honestly think it will be just like any other day. Quote

Super User Hookemdown. Posted December 16, 2007 Super User Posted December 16, 2007 One a more serious note, (correct me if I'm wrong about this) I heard that the calender's cycle ended on that year, so they had no reason to continue it. It'll just start over. Hey Redline, do you have any extra space in your bomb shelter? Quote
