Well the brewers are offering him a one year 10 million doller deal. Then I saw that The brewers are working on on bullpen. They have also signed two other pictures. Look out guys it looks like the brewers are going to be better then last year.

Let's hope this one works out.

When I first saw ten million I wasn't the happiest, but after seeing the Nats give Lo Duca five mil for a year, maybe it's not so bad.  I just wish the Crew got an option for 09' on Gagne.

The Crew's bullpen has a lot of potential right now.  A lot of these guys we signed are ?'s though.  I'll be happy if Mota even makes the team come spring.  Riske is a good pick-up, and I hope Torres is as well.  It looks as if Wise may be non-tendered.  I'll be ticked if we can't get anything in return for him or Mench.

Man, 3-5 years ago, these guys together in the same pen would have been absolutely dominating.

The bullpen was there problem last year. I would also like to see sheets say healthy this year. I belive if sheets was healthy they would have made the playoffs. Then the brewers would have given the soxs a tuff battle. Any one that saw the rockies go all they way knew they had easy teams.

Are you kidding me?!? This deal is a joke Gagne was by far the WORST bullpen pitcher the Red Sox had on their World Series run. I cant believe that your GM signed him to a 1yr deal for 10mil, We barely had him for 7 weeks and he gave up atleast 2-3 leads while he was here. I dont think you guys got a deal more like his agent got a nice fat check. The Brewers front office has been the laughing stock of the New England sports media ever since that story broke that he was signed.

Not as big a joke of the Met's dealing Scharldi to you in 86, then whipping his butt in the series

Sometimes a change in scenery does a guy good.

He wasn't much better for us with the Rangers. He just might be a "has-been". . . a ten million dollar "has-been". Time will tell. Usually every pitcher we let go or deal off does better somewhere else (see Kenny Rogers, Chris Young, Francisco Cordero, etc.)

lPa1nl,

I wouldn't count Gagne out yet, maybe except for the 'roids thing.   ;D

Gagne was a terrible fit for Boston.  He was never comfortable.  You already had an awesome closer in Paplebon, forcing Gagne into a set-up role.  He was extremely uncomfortable at best there.  He has been, and always will be, a closer.

Now he is back where he's most comfortable, where he's flourished: closing in the NL.

I'm not jumping on the Gagne bandwagon here, just saying he very well might show Sox nation a totally different pitcher.

Fisher of Men proves an excellent point: Cordero really stunk-up the joint in Texas, then beacame an All-Star with the Crew.  Heck, the Reds beat out our offer of 4/$42 by four million when he hit the market last month.

It's amazing what a change of scenery and a new pitching coach can do.  And Milwaukee has an excellent pc in Maddux.

Don't get me wrong. Gagne never really had a chance to prove himself here.  He was unhealthy for most of the season, and when he finally got healthy, our GM dealt him off while he still could.  Kenny was a good pitcher for the Rangers, but after his camerman stunt, I think our club had no choice but to let him go.  As for Cordero, he was a dominant closer with us for two or three years before stinking up the place his last season.  You guys used him as a set-up guy, didn't you? Or did he close for ya'll?
