Super User roadwarrior Posted December 13, 2007 Super User Posted December 13, 2007 So, the Yankees "buy" one player for what some teams (Marlins, Devil Rays) spend for their ENTIRE roster: http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb/story/7560086 http://asp.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/salaries/totalpayroll.aspx?year=2007 Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 $275M is a lot of Japanese lures and G Loomis rods. I think I could spend it with the help of a certain fuzzy critter And, by the way, that's capitalism for ya. Quote
Fisher of Men Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I agree. I wonder how it would be if all teams had the same salary structure. I DO find it funny, however that the Yanks (despite spending more $$ than anyone else) haven't been as successful of late. You can't buy "heart". Quote
Guest muddy Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Two things are driving baseball where it is BORAS SELIG :'( Quote
HUNTER19 Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 i've always belived that baseball need a cap like the NFL!!! but its not like that money is helpin them lately anyway : Quote
Cajun1977 Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 theres alot of things wrong with baseball the spending habits of the yankees is not one of them, although i do hate the yanks i do respect the fact they will go after their guy and pay him unlike other teams .but the main pitfall for baseball is that it is to waterdowned way way to many teams Quote
Guest muddy Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 MLB needs REVENUE SHARING: The Yanks,Sox and Braves may be the biggest draw, but they still need teams to play against. Consider this the inital Cable Contract for the Yankees/YES , the Yankess take the first year would have paid for every starting pitchers salary in the Easten Division , minus two . The Seatlle Mariners Cable deal did not even pay for their top 3 starters . Quote
