Super User 5bass Posted December 12, 2007 Super User Posted December 12, 2007 Bobby Petrino called a meeting to tell his staff that he was quitting the team to take the Arkansas coaching job, then walked out of the room. Yet another big blow to the Falcons....he didnt even have enough class to finish the season. Quote

Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted December 12, 2007 Super User Posted December 12, 2007 What a classless act. Walking out on a team before the season is over. Falcon Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 12, 2007 Super User Posted December 12, 2007 I wouldn't want to coach the dirty birds either. ;D Quote
Big T Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 I would have finished the season, but I can not blame him for leaving Atlanta. That is headed nowhere team. Also to play devil's advocate, he really needed to go ahead go to Arkansas if he was going. That way he can put together a coaching staff and get a leg up on recruiting. Big T Quote
tyrius. Posted December 12, 2007 Posted December 12, 2007 What I don't understand is why anyone would want someone to coach for their team after they have shown that they can not even be trusted to complete a freaking season! Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 12, 2007 Super User Posted December 12, 2007 Well, before getting all over Petrino, lets not forget what a dog pooh-pooh franchise the Falcons have been. After taking Atlanta to the Super Bowl for the first and only time, Dan Reeves was also named "Coach of The Year" before being uncerimonisly dumped after 13 games in the 2003 season. Quote

Well, that being the case, he's going from the frying pan into the fire. The Hogs (not that I follow them) have not been that bad of a team under Houston Nutt. I think they went 8-4 this year and even upset LSU, but haven't brought home a (very tough to acheive) SEC title. They'll get tired of Petrino and give him his walking shoes soon, too. You can obviously tell that no one wanted to go there. They've only asked how many to take the job and been turned down? 3 or 4? Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted December 12, 2007 Super User Posted December 12, 2007 I see players breaking contracts, holding out for more money all the time. How many coaches out there are stand up guys? Some coaches that have class have done the very same, and it don't matter where you came from, as with the midnight intro to the Hog nation last night they cheered. Les Miles did say he talked to Michigan, he said as a "loyal Alum", he was helping them find a coach. BS!!!!! LSU bought your loyality!!! I say show some. I can understand a person bettering themselves. Overall, I think his record speaks for itself at his other stops. And before some one points out his 41-9 record, I'd like to say Big East, and what big games do the Big East win. Speaks for itself. I know that Texas is a neighbor of Ark. and we have great HS football program that keeps recruiters busy. I know you should select a college based on educational opportunites instead of a coach. I can assure you if I had a son and Petrino came calling, he wouldn't be allowed on my front porch. Character should still count for something. Quote
