Super User Hookemdown. Posted December 10, 2007 Super User Posted December 10, 2007 Me, Mom, Dad and my brother and sister all get together. Â My brother and sister are already married, so they come over our house. This is the usual schedule. 6:00am - Mom gets up and starts cooking 8:00 - brother arrives. 9:00 - waiting on sister 10:00 - " Â ... Â " 11:00 - " ... " 12:00 - Sister finally gets there, but we're meeting at my aunt's house for Christmas dinner, so we have to open presents and do the "usual" in about 2 seconds the make it there on time. You gotta love family. Quote

BucketmouthAngler13 Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 me and my pals spend christmas eve fishing then christmas day with our familys. Usualy I'm up bright and early and have to wait for hours for my older sisters to wake up/shower/get hair done/ect. Quote
Super User Sam Posted December 10, 2007 Super User Posted December 10, 2007 When the kid was here, it was up around 6 AM, breakfast, and then gathering around the Christmas tree for him to had out the presents and we then opened them. Now, with him married, it is just my wife and me so we get up at 8 or 9 AM, have some coffee, then open the presents. Scott and his wife come over later in the day to get their stuff. My wife is always concerned we will throw something valuable away with the trash. Then, we take a nap and get ready for some football! Quote
Olebiker Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Things have changed over the years. Â It was great when the kids were little and would come into our bedroom about 5:00 a.m. wanting us to get up with them. Â This was usually after I had sung at midnight Mass and had only been asleep for a couple of hours. I'm too old for midnight Mass any more so I sing at an early Christmas Eve Mass. Â The girls are grown now so we just sleep in on Christmas morning. Â Sometime in the morning they come over with the grandbabies and we open presents then go to one of the daughters' houses for the extended family get together which includes food, a nap, and football. By the time we get home early in the evening at least one neighborhood child with a new bike will be at the door asking me to adjust something. 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted December 10, 2007 Super User Posted December 10, 2007 The house starts off spotless then out of nowhere a tornado hits and the house is a wreck. The kids open their gifts and then we try to clean up. It is the greatest hour of the year because by the time the kids open their presents, we have to get them ready to go to the multiple homes of my wifes family. We will make at least 3 stops on Christmas for presents and food. I wish just for once we could have them all at our house so I don't have to tare my kids away from their toys. I am tired of rushing the kids to all these different places. By the end of the day I will have put about 150-200miles on my car. One of these days I am going to tell her family, "You know where I live. Come see the kids play with their toys. Â You are welcome to come and eat anytime on Christmas." and finally "It's about the kids not you." and "My family understands this, why can't you." Â I have been wanting to do this for years but I think my wife would kill me. Someday they will push my kids to the limit and I am going to explode. Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 10, 2007 Super User Posted December 10, 2007 Â Everyone is happy of course because it's Christmas but there is a little bit of chaos and panic mixed in because Santa did not label things rights or forgot the batteries and the bulldog is trying to get the ripped off wrapping paper out of the garbage to play with it. We also watch Christmas Vacation over and over and over again. 1 Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted December 10, 2007 Super User Posted December 10, 2007 We normally go to Colorado. (Garndparents, an Aunt, an Uncle, and two young nieces). Â The two young nieces have really made Christmas much more fun over the past 3 years. Â Afterall, that's what the whole "gifts" thing for Christmas is for. Â I just enjoy being around my family. Â That's what Christmas is for me these days. Usually on Christmas Eve we have a big non traditional dinner. Â Last year we had steaks, the year before I smoked a few slabs of ribs, etc. etc. Â Then after that we open the majority of our gifts at my grandparents house. Â Then Christmas morning it's up at 5am and over to the Aunt and Uncle's to watch the nieces wake up to the gifts Santa left them. Â Funny thing is he always tends to leave something for my sister and I. ;D Â For some reason my nieces look at my sister and I as kids still (even though we are 21 and 24). Â The first year they were able to talk, the girls were furious that Santa didn't leave us any gifts. Â One even started to cry a little. Â Sweet girls. Â Every year since Santa has left us a little something. Â YAY!!! ;D ;D Â Almost 25 years old and I still get gifts from Santa. Then about mid afternoon we have a HEATED Crazy Canasta tournament. Â These things are viscous and cut throat. Â My grandfather and I have never lost the Christmas Day tournament. Â That's about 10 years running. Â Then we usually have a more traditional Christmas Dinner. 1 Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 10, 2007 Posted December 10, 2007 Christmas Eve, I stay at my sisters house down the Cape (Cape Cod).  We cook a 7 course dinner for the family.  My brother and his girls all come down and spend the night, we have a blast, like a camp out  We sure do miss the parents though, they are down in Fla. for the holiday but at least we started a new tradition when they got older.  My sister and I can throw down a meal and a half!  For the morning, I make a cake (2 packages of blueberry muffin mix)(whipped cream cheese/sugar frosting) and we plant a single candle in it and sing "Happy Birthday" 1 Quote

Fisher of Men Posted December 11, 2007 Posted December 11, 2007 This is a very enjoyable thread; I'm getting to know you all a little better. Well, our holiday starts (will start this year on Friday night. We'll cook a small turkey, have supper, read the Christmas story from the Bible, and open gifts here at the house. My wife and I buy my daughter a few gifts from us and let her open them a night or two before Christmas (she's not spoiled or anything) :. Sunday we'll attend church service and then travel to my grandmother's house. On Christmas Eve (Monday) we will have supper at her house and watch my daugher open some more presents from family (as if she doesn't already have enough). We'll then drive home (about two hours) and get her to bed around midnight. On Christmas morning around 6 or 7:00 a.m. we'll get up and see what Santa brought (for some reason I'm always very tired on Christmas morning) After she gets to play for awhile, we'll get around and drive up to my wife's grandmother and have dinner there. This will be her first year without her husband of 60 years. After visiting there for awhile, we'll drive back home. Â This is pretty much our routine every year. 1 Quote

Anyone wants to see the kids, they come to our place. We do make it a point not to miss their Thanksgiving or 4th of July parties though to compensate. Quote
