Super User .dsaavedra. Posted December 9, 2007 Super User Posted December 9, 2007 if Bass Resource had a chat room...that would be sick. there are always plenty of people signed in the forums, so the chat room would get well used. chat rooms are lots of fun. why doesn BR have one? that would be great if this site could get a chat room....what do you all think? preach4bass Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I personally think it would endanger the greatness of BR. There would be no way Glenn and the moderators could police a chat room. That would lead to arguments about politics, religion, and shimanos that would carry over to the forums. We'd probably lose a lot of valuable members over petty matters. For that reason, I hope BR stays like it is. On a side note, someone else brought this up a while back and tried it on their own for a while. It was one of the younger guys (sorry, I don't remember who). However, I haven't heard them talk about it recently. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted December 9, 2007 Author Super User Posted December 9, 2007 oh thats true. the reason i said this is because there was a chat room on the north american fishing club forum but they redid the site and i dont know if the chat room is still ther but the new site sucks and i dont go there anymore. the chat room was cool...but most times not many people were in. Fish Man Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 Try to do what all us kids did a while ago....go on aim find members your age and have a chat WITH members from BR but NOT ON BR.That way its not up to Glenn or the other mods ro police it and try to set up rules for other to follow while chating, and if they dont follow them block them. And we also had a thread in the "everything else" forum that had a list off everyone that planned on chatting Quote

Currently I am in the middle of the first of two 15 hour night shifts this weekend. I pulled a 10 last night. Then on Monday when I get home I get about four hours of sleep and then I start work at my other job. I have my own insurance buisness that I work at Monday thru Friday and then come Friday night it's back here to the Hospital for 40 more hours. Total time worked this week will be about 120hours for me. I'm not the only mod with a busy schedule and bills to pay. We don't get paid to Moderate these forums we don't have the time to Moderate a chat room. If you wan't to chat that's fine just leave BR out of it and have a fun. Quote

Super User Sam Posted December 9, 2007 Super User Posted December 9, 2007 A major problem with chat a chat room is that "non-fishermen" can join in and reallyl make a nuisance of themselves. The other reasons above are all valid as well. So I vote for no chat room. We are doing fine as we are and I hope we continue the same format. Good idea - but not appropriate for this forum. Quote
slomoe Posted December 9, 2007 Posted December 9, 2007 I don't know about a chat room, but I've been wanting to start a "general chat thread". One where we can check in and bring up random topics. Instead of startin a thread on every little topic. Quote
