I would have gotten the gas that night.  The town I grew up in had a gas war and the prices went down to .62, so folks might have assumed that something similar was happening.  It dosn't seem likely since the correct price was listed on the sign though.  But, I'd go ahead and get the gas.  If I found out later that a mistake was made, I'd go pay the owner the difference.  This is no different than a clerk at Wal-Mart giving you back too much change.  You might take it and put it in your wallet, but when you find out later that a mistake was made, take it back.

With how bad consumers have been getting "it" by oil companies and such the past few years, I would have done it in a heart beat. Sorry

A similar thing happened to me several years ago.  The station was open and the pump price said $2.00 or whatever, but when I calculated the actual price charged based on the number of gallons, it was something like $0.75 per gallon.  I went inside and paid and told the owner who said I must be mistaken.  I continued to get cheap gas for several days thereafter.  I TOLD HIM and he didn't listen so he deserved it.

Some stores, this happen at k-mart once, if customer thought a product was mis-priced like cheaper then it was orginally suppose to be, then manager would give that customer the product at that price then go re-correct it.

I figure a gas station attendent might do that, but I wouldn't count on it. I mean if you believe in karma then you better go tell them. :o lol.

I'm still trying to find the dishonesty in this. I found some crankbaits miss priced on BPS online one day. They were supposed to be priced for 9.98 but they had them for .99. I bought 10 of them. I was shopping for guitar music one day and was checking the price of a book full of country music. The price tag said 0.01. I took it up to the counter. It scanned 0.01 and the store was required to sell it to me for that price. He can't blame a mistake that his employee made on those who came to pump gas. The customers did nothing illegal at all.

i'd be all over that like no body's business!!!!

reminds me of the time my friend went to kmart on black friday and found a $60 pool cue he liked but it had no upc code on it. he took it to the register and started pretending like he couldnt speak english and he said to them in french that the sign said $5. there were soooo many people behind him that the casheir just gave it to him for 5 bucks to avoid a big holdup. thats dishonest right there, but it worked!

If there were people lining up for gas wouldn't you think the employees would have caught it in less that 1 hour and 45 minutes later?

Gas mongers made billions in profit this year. This is what happens when you change the gas prices so many times.Greedy scoundrels got what was coming to them.I hope it happens more and more.Worst yet they'll just raise the prices more and more.

If i didn't have to buy gas i wouldn't.

Yeah but you got to think thats not up to the convenent stores the gas prices they just buy it from the fuel companies and sell it. But that same thing happened when I live in a small town by Abiline gas was like 2.00 a gallon and they marked as .99 I missed out on that. I believe that if you take advantage of someone you will get back the same if not worse some time later. I did do something like this a few years ago it was when gas prices first went way up I was putting 10.00 in my truck and it was pay before you pump and it didnt have a sign so I turned on the pump and it didnt work so I went inside to tell the lady and to pay well she turned the pump on while I was inside and there was a line so it put nearlly 80 bucks in my truck and I didnt have the money to pay for it so they eat it.

The station was closed so there were no employees present. The people were paying at the pump.
