Super User fishfordollars Posted December 6, 2007 Super User Posted December 6, 2007 Missing this morning: Lighted igloo, Lighted buck and doe, lighted packages, and a lighted bell that was up on my house. They had to have a latter to even reach the dang bell(or on someone's shoulders). Called the police...They showed(finally) at 11:30. Did not seem interested in even taking a report. I give up. You can't have a dang thing anymore. Maybe the crap will shortout and cause a fire when they hook the crap up. Merry ------- Christmas... Quote
jeremyt Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Man, Sorry for you loss, I am really bothered that this is becoming a common occurance in todays society. I saw a news clip on CNN where a lady in Fl. had her lawn decorations stolen, and what they couldn't steal the ruined. It's a crying shame that some people can't stand it for someone else to have something. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 That sucks FFD. Hopefully you are a believer in Karma. This week, we had a guy following a driver, stealing the packages he left on the door steps. Cops bagged him, they went to the house and there were 21 other stolen packages,....all were under his tree. (most would assume it's an addict looking for something to fence real quick) And a MERRY CHRISTMAS to you too!!! I say we decorate the hell out of this thread for Fishfordollars I'll start, I got the lights and a Santa for the roof!! Quote
Super User FishTank Posted December 6, 2007 Super User Posted December 6, 2007 Sorry to hear about it..... I hope they catch these guys. I'm sure they'll get what they deserve. Quote
KYbass1276 Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 In this situation here is what I would do. I would one buy whatever it is that needs replacing and put it back out. Two make a sign that says Do you need salt with that and put it up in the yard facing the house so people on the road can't see what it says only the theives when there walking away from your house. Three get some shotgun shells loaded with rock salt 12 gauge preferably oh and I would take the plug out too. Four write merry christmas on the shells themselves, Five find a good spot and hide I would dress up like Santa myself and then hide. This could take a couple of nights so have some coffee or something. Six wait on Santa's little helpers to return let them grab hold of the gifts and then step out and start the season of giving and during the whole time of giving I would be saying HO HO HO Merry Christmas and have fun picking Salt out of your rear until the new year. Now you might not want to take such a aggresive approach as I would in that case feel free to use a 20 gauge instead. Quote
Super User fishfordollars Posted December 6, 2007 Author Super User Posted December 6, 2007 Thanks, I have been out this afternoon buying replacements. At least they did not destroy the lights or wiring. Merry Christmas Quote
Fishin-Psyantist Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 So sorry to hear about your loss. Judement day is coming but some people are not too worried about it apparently. The police department in my town dont get exited about much either. Someone tried to take the air conditioner out of my bedroom window one night. It was running, and I was sleeping inside using it!!! Its a really strange feeling to wake up to a noise to look and see your room AC wiggling around in the window sill. The police didnt seem too worried about catching the fools. I had to point out to them all the fingerprints everywhere and reluctantly they took a couple ,,,just to make me happy I guess. It took me weeks before I could ever get a good nights sleep again. Every little noise would wake me up, and that really SUCKED. Quote
Troutfisher Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Jerks, hopefully it all doesn't work when they plug it in. 8-) Merry Christmas though, hopefully you will find good replacements. Quote
Jake. Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Last year someone stole baby Jesus right out of the Nativity scene in our neighbor's yard. Religious or not, that just ain't right. Quote
Bass Smacker Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 This brings a point up that I have beleve need addresing. about two weeks ago my truck was broken in to i had to take the day off work spend $150.00 to get my window replaced. on top of all that i had to put up alight in my yard. Day off work $150.00 window $150.00 new light $50.00 replacing me fishing hat and jacket they stole $25.00 (thats all they got) So when I called the police to make a report I'm exspecting a viset from someone. nope I got a go to this web sight and fill out the on line report. So i ask will some one come out and investagat after i fill out the report. the Nice lady on the other side of the phone said We are way to bizzy and under maned to come out and investigat a simple brake in.. dosn't make sens if they came out and found out Who did this and arrested them then that would be one less person to worry about do that a few hundred times people start getting the clue. then crime starts dropping police have more time to handle things. but getting tham to do there jod is like pulling teeth out of a donky sorry for the hijack Quote
mayassa Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I know you don't want to hear this but maybe your stuff made someones whole Christmas.... Maybe some guy just got laid off work had no money for presents or decorations this year and had to go home everyday from looking for a job or, from his temp job he found that barley puts food on his table to feed his kids, he goes to bed hungry every night so the kids have enough to get through school. He knows this years Christmas is going to suck for his family so he sees your decorations and steals them. He knows its wrong and it bothers him but, when his kids come home that night and see the decorations there faces light up and he thinks maybe just maybe things will get better soon for his families sake. I think if someone resorts to stealing from me they must have need the stuff more than I did, I would get ticked too, but I would just hope it wasn't a punk kid getting off on ripping me off to pawn my stuff. Oh yea Merry Christmas Brother

Quote

Oh yea Merry Christmas Brother

There's only one problem,Not everybody has the time and money to replace it.If somebody stole my kid's stuff there's no way i could replace it which means our christmas would be ruined. So to let some turd steal my family's christmas just so he can have his is BS.Fair and square if he got caught by me,he better hope i don't shoot. He's just gonna have to try a little harder next year to make things better, but DO NOT GO RUINING SOMEBODY ELSE'S. I hated Christmas growing up....some point even now i still do.I'll keep the reasons to myself though. Quote

If someone come to me and told me that story I would be more then happy to get my ladder out and take my lights and decorations down and take them to there house and help put them up. Christmas is about giving and thats what I would explain to my daughter when she seen the lights and decorations gone. There is no shame in trying to make it and not being able too and having to ask for help, I would consider it honorable that some one asked for help and I knew they was doing the best they could but justs couldn't make it. Stealing is not honorable Hell I have given to people even when I needed it worse than they probally did. Quote
mayassa Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I can't believe I wrote that (happy hour!), sorry I meant to simply say, don't let it ruin your holiday. Quote
luckyinkentucky Posted December 7, 2007 Posted December 7, 2007 I had them steal a big snowman out of my front yard last year. Ever since my boat was broken into I keep my 2 German SHepherds outside at night. They'll make enough noise to wake this side of town, and maybe break down the fence trying to get to anyone in the yard late at night. ;D Quote
