Super User Redlinerobert Posted November 30, 2007 Super User Posted November 30, 2007 It got to a point where I had to just change the channel. All the product plugging is so d**n annoying. It really really detracts from the show. Gidget walked in to the living room and started watching and asked me if it was a long commercial. ;D I don't think I'll be recording his show anymore. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Cant disagree with you there Redline. I havent watch his show in years. he isnt the only one like that. I like the shows that teach me how to fish and not tell me what to buy. Atleast InFisherman is a bit more discrete about it. They all plug and they have to but there is a point of rediculous. Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Was it the Bienville show??? Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted November 30, 2007 Super User Posted November 30, 2007 I don't know ..... that show still has great comical value if you ask me ;D ;D Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 On the Bienvillle show, he was pushing Frogg Toggs and "garbage baggy" boots. He had plastic bags on his feet in a med size rain storm,.....in Fla,lol. Hey Roland,....Gore -Tex comes in all kinds of shoes too!! Surprised the bags didn't say Frogg Toggs on them,...same classic fit, lmao But on a better note,.....the FISH, oh man,...monster after monster Quote
Olebiker Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 But on a better note,.....the FISH, oh man,...monster after monster Well, catching bass at Bienville is not really fishing. It's like going on a canned hunt. Reminds me of all those Bill Dance shows where he's fishing in phosphate pits that are not open to the public and normal fishing pressure. If a fishing show host is unwilling to fish public waters I am not interested in watching. Quote
Super User MALTESE FALCON Posted November 30, 2007 Super User Posted November 30, 2007 From the beginning of the show, through the last credit. Roland Martin's show is one big commercial, however he does catch some monster bass. Of all the Pro's with fishing shows my favorite was Larry Nixon's. He plugged his sponsors gear but by-and-large his show was a teaching show. Just my opinion. Falcon Quote
Murray Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 i would like to take the time in this post to tell you something about sun screen...no matter what time of day or what weather there is...always wear sunscreen...9 coats of spf 75 minimum. i like to put it all over my body...and dont forget another coat just before bedtime. Super User fishfordollars Posted November 30, 2007 Super User Posted November 30, 2007 I fell out with Bill Dance years ago. First show he was ripping them off of a nice point that had some large pine trees on it. I swear I could count on those same trees being in the background for the next 20 shows. Just a different angle. He may have filmed the whole season in a week as the weather remained the same also. The only difference was the location of the moon in the sky. What a joke. My favorite was Benny Braur's show on several years ago critizing the amateurs that he had on. That was entertaining and informational. Quote

Lather up a good bit in your palm and keep that face protected, make sure you get the tops of your hands too and a Q-tip is good for gettin inside the ears and up your nose... Quote
Big T Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Kind've reminds me of the Quantum, Triton, Dicks Sporting Goods infomercial known as One Last Cast with Shaw Grigsby. ;D Quote
frogtog Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 It's not good for him to push Frogtog. ;D Quote
Super User 5bass Posted December 1, 2007 Super User Posted December 1, 2007 Well folks, today my buddy John and I are fishing Okeechobee for some monster bass. We'll be casting from my brand new Triton TR21X2, man what a nice boat....what do you think John, how do you like this brand new Triton X2? Its real nice Roland. What a great boat, wouldnt you say John? Earl Bentz has done a great job with these new X2's. Yes, its a real nice rig Roland. I figured after we locate some fish with our Humminbird electronics we'll dunk some big 'ol shiners with our Shimano reels and rods. Oh son! John's got a good one on, how big is it John? Its a big one Roland. Oh, thats just a small one John, maybe 7 or 8 pounds.....lets weigh it with the Boga Grip.....folks, these Bogas are the real deal. If you dont have a set, I suggest you get a set before your next trip. They are a little pricey but worth every penny. Oh Son! There's a nice one, I think its just a little bit bigger than yours John but we'll weigh it with the Boga Grips and find out for sure. Yep, these Boga Grips are dead on, I got yours by about 2 pounds.....they're getting better John. Thats what we're looking for Roland. Look John, the rain clouds are breaking up, might as well get out of these Frogg Toggs and put them in the storage box....but you know John, we could actually fit the whole rainsuit in our back pocket if we wanted to because they fold up so well and dont really take up a lot of space at all, although this new Triton X2 has monstrous storage compartments and storing a whole case of Frogg Toggs would be no problem. I agree Roland. Folks, these Frogg Toggs are the real deal, if you dont have Frogg Toggs you're taking a real chance at getting soaked wearing anything else. I recommend you place an order online right away at FroggToggs.com. Good stuff wouldnt you say John? Oh yeah, good stuff Roland. Hey John, can you reach in the glove box and get out the SPF 150 sunscreen? Sure Roland. How do you like that glove box John? Its great Roland. Triton has done a great job with the newly designed glove boxes on these new Triton X2's, what a great boat! What do you think John? Oh yeah, great boat Roland. Oh Son! Get the Boga Grips John! Quote

Super User Tin Posted December 1, 2007 Super User Posted December 1, 2007 Yup, thats Roland Martin's show 5BL. You should show Roland that example of your writting skills. I'm sure he would make you an executive producer or something. The best part was, as I'm reading it, it was in Roland's voice and I can picture this going on. ;D ;D ;D lmao Quote
edbassmaster Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 I disagree with youRobert...everytime Roland comes on I put on my Ono's and sit back and relax Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted December 1, 2007 Super User Posted December 1, 2007 I think his show would be much more realistic if he was wearing fish net thigh highs, hot pants and big clear plastic platform shoes. Doesn't make for much of a visual, but he sure is a wh*re! Quote

Super User Tin Posted December 1, 2007 Super User Posted December 1, 2007 "Tried to watch Roland Martin's show last night" ............WHY ? As Ever, skillet LMAO, mine as well watch the infomercial for the Walking Worm while you are at it Quote
luckyinkentucky Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 A lot of Pro's are doing this anymore. I tried to watch a Woo Daves show on plastics fishing not too long ago, and it was one big BPS advertisement. Every other word was 'you can find this at Bass Pro'. If they beef up the advertising then they'll beef up the paychecks. I like to watch a lot of shows over the net at 'myoutdoortv.com'. They have a lot of informative shows that I don't get locally. Best of all .... it's free! Quote

If a fishing show host is unwilling to fish public waters I am not interested in watching. NOW that is something I have been saying for years. If the host is only fishing private water then thats nice and all but its isnt helping me any. Why I have more respect for fishing show hosts that go to public waters aka Hank Parker, In Fishermen, Denny Brauer, Mark Zona to name a few. Quote
jeremyt Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I don't know I think I could watch Rolands advertising rather than hearing Shaw Grigsby squeall like a little girl one more time. : Quote
fish-fighting-illini Posted December 6, 2007 Posted December 6, 2007 Hey Five Bass with the writers on strike I think you're in! You've got it down word for word LOL Quote
