FishingMastah1 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Well I have been fishing for a little bit for 5 days in a row for many hours with no results.. I have been using plastic worms, some horny toads, chatterbait, spinnerbait, and rat-l-traps and none of them are producing at all. And Im not just fishing 2 casts Im fishing alot with them all. I cant be fishing them all wrong. So I was curious as to something new that I could try to start catching again. Its very discouraging and kinda makes me want to just stay home instead of fishing. Any recommendations? Quote

Any recommendations? Try downsizing your worms. Then, retrive extremely slow or add extra long pauses between jerks from your rod. When using soft plastics on slow days I try to make them look as easy as possible to eat. Good luck! Quote
Cajun1977 Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 try new spots, you can use evry lure in the world but if you aint fishing where the fish are then they wont work for ya Quote

Red Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 i have had luck with the lake fork live magic shad when nothing else worked. rig it just like the package shows, on a weighted hook(with the weight on the hook shank) cast and reel it in nice and slow, with maybe some short pauses and stuff. choose a color that best matches the bait fish in your waters. i usually use the plain white or the silver with black cuz i have shad in my waters. hope this helps Cliff Quote
bocabasser Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 tie on a rattle trap or any other 1/4 oz lipless crank. i like the lucky craft lipless myself. you can cover a lot of water and locate where the fish are. spring is usually a good time for cranks down here. good luck. Quote

FishingMastah1 Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 I dont have any LIPPED crankbaits, so should I get a X-Rap shad? They seem killer, especially with the feathered tail. Quote
Hawg Fan Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Keep doing what your doing, catching fish is all about confidence. If you are getting too frustrated I might suggest a different body of water for new scenery and a boost of confidence. My go to baits right now are Texas Rigged Plastic Worms (Red Shad) or Jig N Pig (Black&Blue) up in the shallows IN not around heavy cover for those bass trying to feed on their old beds, and rat-l-traps and carolina rigged brush hawgs (Green Pumpkin) along anything that resembles a point and along any secondary points. Never Quit! Fishing is all about confidence! They are out there, just make sure you go out with the attitude that your going to catch'em! Good Luck, Hawg Quote

Popeye Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Persistance and patience, along with the great suggestions from the other guys, WILL pay off for you! I can guarantee that IF you stay home, you most certainly will not catch any fish either! Now keep getting out there and start nailing 'em. Quote

Jake P Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Here is a good post that RoadWarrior made not to long ago for people who aren't catching bass, try it out. http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1158577137 Quote
FishingMastah1 Posted May 5, 2008 Author Posted May 5, 2008 In that guide why cant I use my baitcaster? is the bait to light? Quote
daviscw Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 Nah, use whatever you have. There are no rules; just suggestions. Spinning gear is usually used for lighter baits, but it isn't a must... Quote
BirdNestBen Posted May 14, 2008 Posted May 14, 2008 Might try spinning gear- 6 to 10 lb. test.. this is what has been working for me lately.. you might give it a try.... Zoom super fluke- pearl or watermelon Senko-(strike king zero)watermelon red Berkley powerworm- electric blue Zoom Baby Brush Hog- watermelon I'd start on the outer edges... parallel casting the weedlines... ;)and then work your way in close... maybe a lot of bass are holding tight to cover... switch to a baitcaster and try some flipping and pitching...... I'm sure there are a lot of good lures for pitching into cover, one would be the lizard... I've even caught a lot pitching flukes.... The baby brush hog is great for flipping and pitching.........
