Super User Raul Posted December 4, 2007 Super User Posted December 4, 2007 Got a friend in MacAllen that owns several "anything related to smoking " stores, he transformed what used to be his office in a smokers room, nice place where you can purchase a cigar and then go to the smoking salon, have a drink while you do it and talk to friends or watch the TV. Right at the entrance of the salon there 's warning sign: ENTRANCE PROHIBITED TO NON SMOKERS.
Olebiker Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 I smoked a pack and a half of unfiltered Camels every day when I was younger so don't get me started on smokers. > Too late. We have an usher at church that stinks of cigarette smoke so badly that people get up and move to the other side of church to get away from his stink. Don't cars come with ash trays any more? Every intersection I stop at has piles of cigarette butts that smokers have thrown out the window. I may take up smoking again so I can get six breaks a day like all the other smokers in my shop. OK. I feel better now.
Fisher of Men Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 I may take up smoking again so I can get six breaks a day like all the other smokers in my shop. OK. I feel better now. I'll bet the boss smokes, too. :-?
Guest muddy Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 I smoke, I am old enough to make up my own mind, and I am tired off all the self rightous people who want to save me from myself.MYOB
tyrius. Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 I smoke, I am old enough to make up my own mind, and I am tired off all the self rightous people who want to save me from myself.MYOB Us non-smokers will MYOB when the smokers start wearing bubbles over their heads to contain their smoke. Light up all you want in the privacy of your own home/car/whatever, it doesn't bother me. Just don't sit down at a table next to me and start chain smoking. Then it ceases to just be your business and becomes mine too.
Guest muddy Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Thats what I do , and I smoke in my boat. I pay extra money in my stae for taxes because smoking puts a strain on the hospital system So what about Skiers,Hunters, skydivers, guys who drive just under the level of DUI and so forth.Smokers and endangered species have become the lighting rod for other people to SAVE, I do not need saving. I do not smoke in the presence of children and I do not need to be allowed to do something leagal by anyone PERIOD Id do not go to bars, sporting events or concets. The resturants I frequent are small family joints in Brooklyn where one would never smoke anyway. Smokers, who pay ridiculos taxes have rights, and need to stick up for them , this is getting ridiculous.Soon they will be telling us we can't smoke in our own houses ( See San Fransico) why not prohibiton on tobbaco it worked so good with booze :-/ A lot of the fellas here scream to high heaven when people want to limit or control gun ownership and or fishing rights because oneof their main arguments is THEY WON"T STOP UNTIL THEY HAVE ALL OUR GUNS AND WE CAN"T FISH OR HUNT ANYMORE well guess what slowly, but surely smoking is getting the same way. I work hard, I am over 55 years old and if I want to spend my money on a pack of butts or a can of chew it's my business
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted December 4, 2007 Super User Posted December 4, 2007 I am somewhat different when it comes to this topic. I have parents that smoke constantly. I have been known to light one up, although the last one was over 5 months ago. I dont mind people smoking in open public places, as long as someone isnt blowing it directly into my face. If it really bothers me that much, I can move. Simple as that. Restaurants....I am all for letting the owner/manager decide if you can smoke in the building. It is their property, let them decide. If they say "No Smoking" then you either smoke outside or go somewhere that allows you to smoke. If they allow smoking, non-smokers shouldnt complain about the smoke. You entered that establishment under your own power and judgement. You wouldnt walk into a casino and complain about gambling. I agree, smoking is very bad for your health. I think that has been proven over and over. Just let people decide for themselves. Wayne
Super User Dan: Posted December 4, 2007 Super User Posted December 4, 2007 I agree, the only thing that annoys me about public smoking if someone is inconsiderate or not observant and blows smoke in my face as I walk by. That is the same to me, however as people who don't know how to walk...ie people who walk on the wrong side of the sidewalk, who walk too slow, or who make unpredictable lane changes...it's just people being inconsiderate or not caring enough to observe their surroundings.
Olebiker Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 I smoke, I am old enough to make up my own mind, and I am tired off all the self rightous people who want to save me from myself.MYOB I don't care what smokers do to themselves. If you want to smoke, go ahead. Just don't throw your butts on the street.
Super User Bassn Blvd Posted December 4, 2007 Super User Posted December 4, 2007 Some friends and I were at a resteraunt when some friend of my friends lit up at the table . I didn't know him and I wasn't done eating. Well, I stopped eating and put in a big 'ol chaw of tobacco and stared right at him and his date. I started spitting my juice in to a transparent cup and moving the tobacco around in my mouth like a piece of candy. His date had the balls to tell me chewing tobacco was gross and to stop doing it at the table. I laughed and kept it up.
tyrius. Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Smokers and endangered species have become the lighting rod for other people to SAVE, I do not need saving. Trust me my friend, I am not out to save anyone or take away their cigs. If someone wants to kill themselves with cigerette smoke more power to ya. My dad had a heart attack at 52 and he STILL smokes. He's an idiot, but he isn't going to change. I'm just not a big fan of the smoke being blown in my face or trying to eat in a smoky location. Smoke all you want, just keep it away from me. Soon they will be telling us we can't smoke in our own houses ( See San Fransico) why not prohibiton on tobbaco it worked so good with booze :-/ And THAT is ridiculous in my opinion too. But hey what do you expect, it's San Fran you know! ;D
Zel Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Did you know that the costs on our health care system is the same for obesity as it is for smoking. Hmmmm... and why don't we see a FAT TAX, as we do a cigarette tax, to offset the health care costs? Can you say P.C.!
Super User roadwarrior Posted December 4, 2007 Super User Posted December 4, 2007 If there were a FAT TAX in the Mid South, we could eliminate the sales tax!
jeremyt Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 If there were a FAT TAX in the Mid South, we could eliminate the sales tax! LOL ;D No doubt, but in all seriousness, if you are over 18 its your choice. Do as you please, the only thing about smokers ( I am one, but don't do this) is people who smoke in their vehicle, house ect.. with their kids within arms distance from them. Your choice, your kids, but let them decide for themselves.
RobbyZ5001 Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 My opinion on smokers with families is that they are selfish. Seen too many of my freinds parents dying before they hit 45. You may not care about yourself but your family may care about you!

Low_Budget_Hooker Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 GO ZEL!!! If they had a fat tax, I would get money back!!! (then I could buy more smokes, lol)
Super User Long Mike Posted December 4, 2007 Super User Posted December 4, 2007 Muddy, trying to argue this topic is useless. It's just as polarizing as religion, politics, abortion and Senkos.

MyKeyBe Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I smoke and am courtious about when and where I light up but if all the smokers quit today the government would go broke in a week and state sales and gas taxes would go through the roof. Oh wait, they already are through the roof. :'( Here comes the fat tax!

Bass Smacker Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I smoked 1 1/2 packs for the better part of 15 years. I smoked in restronts parks movie theaters hospitles and bars. My high school even had a smoking section.. In all that time I never knew how bad it smelled.
moby bass Posted December 5, 2007 Posted December 5, 2007 I smoke, I am old enough to make up my own mind, and I am tired off all the self rightous people who want to save me from myself.MYOB Shocked Amen to that! I used to smoke a pipe and cigars, don't much any more. But be careful. Your "rights" are slowly and methodically being taken away from you. And not just smoking either. There are a lot of people out there who want to control EVERYTHING you do from cradle to grave.
