Big T Posted November 27, 2007 Posted November 27, 2007 It is warm here for this time of the year, highs for this week are the upper 60's and low 70's. Prime weather to go fishing and I have plenty of time to do that right now, however this freaking wind keeps blowing just enough to screw things up. If I go saltwater fishing the water is going to be stirred up and muddy, plus my 16ft john boat will get beat up in the lower Cape Fear river and the lake where I usually Bass fish will probably be just as rough. I like to swamped my boat the ramp last week in the same conditions. Wind picked up while I out there and made it hard to get my boat on the trailer as it was blowing waves directly into the ramp. I may try to get out Thursday anyway, but if the wind is going to blow, I would just as rahter have it cold, at least then I would not want to go fishing as bad. Big T Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 28, 2007 Super User Posted November 28, 2007 Go to a place where you wont get blown away or go from the bank in a private place. Colder temps are coming soon, if you dont go you might regret it. In the words of a good friend, It only takes one cast. Quote
Big T Posted November 28, 2007 Author Posted November 28, 2007 Thank dude, I am going out Thursday anyway I have a couple of spots way up the NE Cape Fear that I think could produce nice fish. I may just leave the boat at home and go wading around the flats behind Fort Fisher. The funny thing about here is if you do not like the weather hang around for an hour it usually changes. Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 28, 2007 Super User Posted November 28, 2007 Same thing up here, but it goes from 50 and rain and wind, to 30 and snow and wind. Good luck. Quote
michbass Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Our inland lakes are starting to ice up. Lucky to see 45 lately as a high. Now that is crappy weather. Quote
jeremyt Posted November 28, 2007 Posted November 28, 2007 Big T, Its not so bad with wind up here, I am taking the next two days off, to fish and to take care of the honey do list >. Good luck to ya. Quote

fishbear Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 Well, you could be like us here in Georgia.. Great weather,, water is so low everywhere, you can not even launch a boat... 90% of the lakes are closed right now because of lack of water... most of them are so bad, they may have to restock em after the water comes back up, IF it does. Bean Counter Posted November 30, 2007 Posted November 30, 2007 I agree Fishbear. It has really gotten bad around here. I tried to go fishing last weekend on some ponds I like to fish. The first one was so dry it wasn't more than a foot deep over most of the lake and the second one was so low I would have had to drag my jon boat 20 feet through the mud to get to the water :'(. If we don't get some rain soon I guess I will have to do some trout fishing on the Chatahoochee. Quote
Super User Tin Posted November 30, 2007 Super User Posted November 30, 2007 Up north too, well in RI anyway. Most lakes were either lowered so low or because of lack of rain are very low. If we dont have a snow filled winter (not likely, la ninia pattern) we will be in trouble. A few of the popular lakes have no or a creek 3-4 feet wide for an inlet. Gonna snow Sunday and Monday though . Hey LBH Yawgoo? lmao Quote
Big T Posted November 30, 2007 Author Posted November 30, 2007 Wow I guess it is not so bad around here. My home lake is a powerplant cooling lake (actually four lakes connected) and I have the ocean and the Cape Fear river emtpies into the Atlantic south of Wilmington. Big T Quote

Bean Counter, Tribble Mill, Stone Mtn and Fort Yargo are all still fishable and boat usable.. almost all of the state parks, and even the lakes at Charlie Elliott are open, but they do not produce the fish that Varner or some of the other lakes do. Bear Creek according to DNR is a complete loss. Quote
FishingBuds Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Ya life sucks don't it I for one love the cycles of mother nature, winter is my favorite believe it or not. I love rainy days, cloudy days. love sunny days, and don't forget those days that are so hot that it forces you to chill out I've notice a person that claims to really love the outdoors doesn't complain about the weather, they use it to their advantage. Heres to ya campers and fishermans and fisherwomen and hunters and hikers and bicyclelist Quote

Ok, RI's forcast tomorrow, high of 34* wind chills 10-20* maybe colder. How do I take advantage of that without freezing to death or getting frostbite? lol Quote
FishingBuds Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 get up at 3:30 a.m. be in the tree stand by 5:00 a.m. and go deer hunting and get some meat. Duh Quote
Super User Tin Posted December 1, 2007 Super User Posted December 1, 2007 Can I light a fire in the woods to keep me warm? Will that help attract deer? :-? Quote
