Olebiker Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 I had to take a trip yesterday with my new boss. Nice lady. I found that she lives on Lake Monkey Business where I do a lot of fishing. I was telling her about all the black vultures I saw roosted on a house on the lake this past Sunday afternoon. "That was my house!" she screamed, "They have been roosting on my roof for a couple of months. They have detroyed the cushions on my deck furniture. I get up every morning and shoot them with a paintball gun but they keep coming back." Anyone have any ideas on how to keep them from roosting on a house? Quote

If at all possible string some fishing line back and forth over her roof and deck. They wont be able to see it and will avoid the area after hitting the line a few times. This is how some resorts keep predatory birds out of there Koi ponds they string fishing line in the trees zig zagging back and forth. Hope this helps. Quote

I have a Koi pond and I just use the owls I do have a net to catch the leaves. Quote
Tokyo Tony Posted November 29, 2007 Posted November 29, 2007 Maybe shoot them with something more permanent, like a pellet gun, and make an example by displaying one of their fallen comrades on a stick. They do that on golf courses in Scotland - shoot crows (after getting drunk, of course) with a pellet gun then hang one up on a stick every couple of holes. It keeps them away. Of course, with buzzards, dealing with the carcass may be less than pleasant Quote

I used to shoot them and throw them on the roof of the mean old man across the street. Now that I am under new medication, I have found that my dog chases all the elephants away. I haven't seen one for over a year. Quote

No more problem. I figure she could just throw the carcasses in the lake where the gators, catfish, and turtles would eat them. But you know how wimmen are. She accused me of problem solving rather than listening to her problem and empathising with her. : Quote
