I been keeping a list of things Elaine needs, for her comfort. On the sly, when I get my Chritmas money from work( Very small check) I am opening a bank account IT's time to save for a ring, and ask her to be my wife 8-)

Congratulations, Muddy.  That's great to hear.

To add to what many of you have said:  If you will just LISTEN, she'll tell you what she wants.  My wife begins to hint around as early as September.  I just have to open my ears and make mental notes.  Spa certificates are good.  Personal bath and body items are good, perhaps put together in a basket with a favorite music CD, some candies, perfume, etc.

Another good idea would be to make a coupon book.  Inside make coupons like a "girl's night out/I'll keep the kids", "I'll cook dinner", "I'll do the laundry, cleaning, etc.", "full reign of the TV remote", etc. coupons.   DO be prepared to follow through with these coupons in the future, otherwise this is a worthless gift.

I think that Russ nailed it, personal is best.  Even the lowest price gift can be a hit if the presentation and gift are made personal and from the heart.

Don't wait! That's the best Christmas present a woman could ever receive.

You're a lucky guy.
