Trent, B Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Im going to make the trip over to Academy this week and was wondering what oil base scent I should buy? Quote
jhoffman Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I was using Yum Garlic yesterday which seemed to work fairly well. There must have been a 100 bass boats on the lake so I was rather surprised to take 5 fish. By take I mean catch. I dont eat fish of any kind. Quote
Big-O Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I use my own scent design now but before that I used Mega strike since it first came on the market with good results. I don't think you can go wrong with the red Yum scent either and that is at Academy. Big O www.ragetail.com Quote
Blue Streak Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I only use paste scnts. Oil and water based disolve too quickly. Quote
Super User Bassin_Fin@tic Posted May 11, 2008 Super User Posted May 11, 2008 I only use paste scnts. Oil and water based disolve too quickly. Oil desolves??? I am partial to megastrike Quote

BassFishingMachine Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I like Yum crawfish spray on my jigs, not meaning to sound cocky by this, but if it dissolves why can I still smell it on the bait awhile after I sprayed it on? Quote

Not only that but fish smell in the parts per million so even if you CANT smell it they probably still can. Quote
Trent, B Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 thanks guys I think I might go with the yum scent Quote
srv1990 Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 FWIW, in the past I primarily only used Megastrike, but just recently I rec'd some JJ's Magic in the garlic oil. Gonna try it out this week at Table Rock. If it performs half as good as the odor is potent... the fish are in trouble Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted May 12, 2008 Super User Posted May 12, 2008 My favorite by far is Gary Yamamoto stuff. I believe that is Megastrike as well... Quote
jig Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 never used scents before, wasnt convinced they mattered all that much. But i was at bass pro shops and picked some lunker sauce for the hell of it.anyone else tried this stuff because i have used it all spring off & on and havent noticed any difference at all. Quote
rondef Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I have tried Carolina Lunker Sauce and Baitmate. I have found that Baitmate works the best for me. Quote
mike bat Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 i still like mega strike ... but i will be getting a garlic spray to spray over the mega strike Quote
.Paxamus. Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 i bought some of JJ's Magic and that stuff works well, only a couple of things to be concerned with. 1. Only let your plastic sit in the stuff for a good 1-2 seconds ( one onethousand two onethousand) any ore and the plastic actually will break down some and split. I figured I will leave it in for up to five, not a good idea. 2. That stuff stinks to high heaven, be careful and don't get it on your carpet. Quote
Popeye Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 I have Megastrike and JJ's Magic. So far it seems as though the JJ's is producing more strikes. Quote
