Red Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 well originally i thought this was gonna be a bash on the dallas cowboys.... i am not a huge country music (new) fan....especially, for some reason i dont know why, i cant stand most female country singers.....sure they are fun to look at, but please push mute! i will say i saw sarah evans in concert once and it was good, i enjoyed it actually....but one thing i dont understand.....why, WHY do so many people get all crazy for rascal flats?? i am sorry but they SUCK, IMO.... and i dont find them to be very "country" either wasnt that carrie underwood on american idol? i have beenlistening to older country alot lately, and i am starting to see what i have been missing...willie, waylan, mr. cash...now thats good stuff!! sorry RW, didnt mean to jack your post Cliff Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 8, 2007 Author Super User Posted November 8, 2007 No problemo...I'm Old School, too. "H" is for Haggard. Outlaws RULE! But...Some of the new guys and gals kick azz! Speaking of which, Jennifer Nettles (Sugarland) just won! Quote
Super User Jimzee Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 If I'm gonna listen to it, I want it to be whiskey drinkin', snot slingin', tear in my beer havin', old school country. The new stuff I don't care for that much. Quote
Troutfisher Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Those cowgirls are lookin' mighty fine. Oh, and, uh, the music's good too... Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 8, 2007 Author Super User Posted November 8, 2007 If I'm gonna listen to it, I want it to be whiskey drinkin', snot slingin', tear in my beer havin', old school country. The new stuff I don't care for that much. Oops! Jennifer just stole the show with "Why Don't You Stay". King George, Album Of The Year. Don't tell me, "The new stuff I don't care for that much." It don't get any better than that! 20 years from now "Wrapped" will still be a Classic. We just get to remember when it was brand new! Quote

Olebiker Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Man, if your're not watching the CMA, you're missing the best program of the year! I only got to see bits and pieces of the show and I'm not a huge country music fan, but that was some fantastic show. I fantasize about doing a duet with Reba. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 Jamie foxx going country?????? You shoule have heard the home town buzz this morning. Quote
basspro05 Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 It is hard for me to stomach most of the new country, I think alot of the good guys have changed for the worst. I used to love brooks and dunn, and still do but there last few songs have been "pop" not country. King George is still a king, but bands like rascal flatts and guys like Jason Aldean are pop culture. I read in a magazine once where Jason Aldean said he was going to be better than Johnny Cash ever was, and now his hit song is titled Johnny Cash? I'm a Merle, Hank, Hank jr., Highwaymen kinda guy Quote
Mobydick Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 I don't care what nobody says, new country music is the best! Tell me how Inernational Harvester isn't country? I tell more later, gotta pick up my girlfriend. Quote
basspro05 Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Sung by a hat act, we need another no hats tour from travis tritt, you cant just put a cowboy hat on and sing pop music and call it country, thats besides the post though sorry for getting off subject. Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted November 9, 2007 Super User Posted November 9, 2007 I like country as much as LBH does ;D Some of the musicians have great voices, talent. It's just not my thing. Quote

I do agree with ya that they should do another tour. but come on Craig morgan don't need no cowgirl hat to be country. Just like most people up this way. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted November 19, 2007 Super User Posted November 19, 2007 Unfortunately, I'm old enough to remember both Hank Williams (senior) and Buddy Holley. Both were lions in their respective music genres. I've always enjoyed country and most other forms of music including (dare I say it?) Classical. I absolutely refuse to listen to rap, hip-hop or any group that makes up for its lack of talent by screaming. As for the newer country music? I like almost all of it, with the exception of Rascal Flats. Can't stand 'em. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 19, 2007 Author Super User Posted November 19, 2007 As for the newer country music? I like almost all of it, with the exception of Rascal Flats. Can't stand 'em. Although I generally agree, there's nothin' country about Rascal Flats, this band has a couple of redeeming aspects: 1. This is my 18 year old daughter's favorite band. 2. Because of R.F., my daughter and most of her friends listen to country music and are "into" several other groups (LeAnn Rimes, Brooks & Dunn, Sugarland and many others). 3. If it weren't for R.F., my daughter might be into the other crap! Rap, Heavy Metal and Alternative are things I'm glad she avoids. Quote
