While reading the post "RELIGION vs. POLITICS" and it got off into Oz, it reminded me. I sure would have liked to hear Jerry Lee sing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" at his awards ceremony the other night. Hard to visualize him singing a song like that. Sure glad he got the recognition he deserved ;)...

Nobody does that song quite like Judy Garland in the wizard of oz, but this version was a lovely ballad.

Judy Garalnd owns this song but for my money I never heard it sung sweeter than Willie Nelson, or played with more depth than Louis Armstrong

Good post.

Speaking of "Over the Rainbow" and unlikely guys to sing it, have you ever heard of Israel "Iz" Kamakawiwo'ole?

RIP Iz.

Yeah, before my sister died she picked it out for her funeral. I have trouble listening to it- my eyes well up when I do. Beautiful song.

At the end of that video, the celebration in the water with all the Hawaiian boats and dancers is Israels' funeral.  His ashes were scattered in the water off a beach.

Are you sure those were his ashes?

The urn looked kinda small.
