Super User Sam Posted November 10, 2007 Super User Posted November 10, 2007 LSU should move into the #1 spot in the BCS on Monday with Oregon second. If both teams can win out it will be the prettiest uniform vs the uglest uniform in the Sugar Bowl. Geaux Tigers! Quote
Troutfisher Posted November 10, 2007 Posted November 10, 2007 Or, WVU could win out and make it all the way! Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted November 10, 2007 Super User Posted November 10, 2007 Let me look into my crystal ball... I see an OU-Kansas match up for the BIGXII title. Wait...now I see OU jumping Oregon in the final poll. Wait for it... It's LSU vs. OU, a rematch of the 2003. But this time, I see a different outcome. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted November 11, 2007 Super User Posted November 11, 2007 Both LSU and OU will be playing teams that they will probably stomp today. I'm not sure how a win by either team will affect the BCS rankings, but you never know what the BCS computers will spit out. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 11, 2007 Super User Posted November 11, 2007 There were some outstanding games yesterday Texas A&M & Missouri started close and I though A&M would keep it close Texas Tech & Texas was a shootout as usual but it always is Ohio State finally proved what I've said all year, over-rated Oklahoma, I mean come on it was Baylor, kind of like LSU and Tech Kansas, I don't know but they win The Tigers are where they have been all year in the hunt of a title Quote

Probably won't, but IF we fisnish 13 - 0, I don't think the BCS can keep us out of the NC game. Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 11, 2007 Author Super User Posted November 11, 2007 Ring Fry, Kansas has four obstacles to overcome to make it to New Orleans. 1. Weak out of conference schedule 2. Not known as a football power house 3. Missouri 4. Oklahoma in Championship Game I would love to see an LSU-UK game. I think it would be more enjoyable and entertaining than LSU-OU. Of course, LSU has to beat Ole Miss, Arkansas and Tennessee in the SEC Championship game to make it to the Sugar Bowl so all we can do is sit back and enjoy the show. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted November 11, 2007 Super User Posted November 11, 2007 I am not too worried about the Hawks. Sure we have some tough games coming up. ....... BUT IF we win out, we would have beaten 2 top 5 teams. IMO KU is the only team that can truly say they have control of their own destiny. So if we win out, Oregon and LSU will have to sweat out the other spot in the NC. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 11, 2007 Super User Posted November 11, 2007 Kansas Jayhawks weak schedule Central Michigan Southeastern Louisiana Toledo Florida International Kansas State Baylor Colorado Texas A&M Nebraska Oklahoma State Iowa State Missouri Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted November 11, 2007 Super User Posted November 11, 2007 Kansas Jayhawks .... IF we win out .... 2 top 5 wins .... Anybody else done that?? Weak schedule is no longer an issue Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 11, 2007 Super User Posted November 11, 2007 As long as there is a BCS a weak schedule is an issue; oh yea what 2 top 5 wins did Kansas have? Top 25 maybe 2007 LSU: Sept. 8 Beats No. 8 Virginia Tech, 48-7 Sept. 22 Beats No. 12 South Carolina, 28-16 Oct. 6 - Beats No. 9 Florida, 28-24 Oct. 13 - Loses at No. 17 Kentucky, 43-37 (3OT) Oct. 20 - Beats No. 18 Auburn, 30-24 Nov. 3 - Wins at No. 17 Alabama, 41-34 SEC Championship: No. 8 Georgia Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted November 11, 2007 Super User Posted November 11, 2007 I think KU is talking about OU and Mizzou Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted November 11, 2007 Super User Posted November 11, 2007 I think KU is talking about OU and Mizzou Yes, that is why there is that IF. And that's a big IF. Right now I believe we have just one top 25 win ... @ K-State. At the time I believe they were 24. So do I think we deserve to be 1 or 2 right now ..... absolutely not. But if we can beat Mizzou and OU I certainly think our resume would be good enough to get to THE GAME. Quote
Super User Catt Posted November 13, 2007 Super User Posted November 13, 2007 LSU is No. 1 in this week's Associated Press rankings, which have no bearing on the BCS. The Tigers hardly were a unanimous No. 1, receiving 73 of 112 first-place votes in the Harris poll and 35 of 59 in the coaches' poll. They were No. 1 in four of the six computer rankings. "I wouldn't say they're uncatchable," CollegeBCS.com analyst Jerry Palm said. "But they won't be overtaken by two teams, and if you're No. 2, you're still in the championship game." The Ducks were 17 points behind LSU in the coaches' poll last week, but now they trail the Tigers by 50. Oregon was 50 points behind LSU in the Harris poll last week and now trails by 92. Oregon has a much stronger strength of schedule (No. 2 nationally) than the Jayhawks (No. 85), who have yet to play a team in the current BCS Top 25. Quote
Super User Matt Fly Posted November 13, 2007 Super User Posted November 13, 2007 A team being ranked in the first half of the season that gets beat should have bearing on the end of the season. USC may have been #1 at one time, and that was on human specualtion, not earned at the time. Afterall, look at them now, which should be the final result. At the end of the year, the whole body of work needs to be looked at. LSU beat some good teams, but SEC rankings are like the stock market every week, some up, some down. Nebraska was ranked at once, should that be considered by KU. Then LSU beating a #9 Florida at one time don't matter, it should be the final body of work. Florida isn't #9, Strength of schedule is assigned by someone at the first of the season based on past performance (?), I"m assuming. A team that has stellar brake out season should have SOS adjusted accordingly, and that would be human accessment again. Some one has to input the stats. As long as humans are involved, we won't every get it right 100% of the time. How are SOS assigned. Lets say UT was ranked #1 based on Vince Young, and he gets hurt game #1, then the teams that faced UT, their SOS should be adjusted accordingly. UT is no longer the force without Vince. So how does SOS work? Quote
Fisher of Men Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 This is why we need a PLAYOFF SYSTEM. As much as I agree with you, it'll never happen. Too much $$$ in the bowl games. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 13, 2007 Super User Posted November 13, 2007 Or, THE University of Missouri (beat IL on opening day, who just knocked off #1 Ohio), beats KU and then the Sooners for the Big 12 title. The way this season has gone, nothing is a done deal. LSU has been beaten and come close on several occasions. They may win the SEC or may drop another game or TWO! The National Title is wide open. p.s. I like the current (bowl) system. There are too many teams in too many conferences to have anything resembling the play-off system structured at the professional level. Besides, this way we can argue all year about who was REALLY a top ten team, contender or National Champ! Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted November 13, 2007 Super User Posted November 13, 2007 Whoa!!! Whoa!! Whoa!!! RW, Who said anything about Mizzou?? ;D Actually, they would have a very strong case for the NC if they should go on to beat KU (that was very hard for me to type) and then OU in the Big 12 championship. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted November 13, 2007 Super User Posted November 13, 2007 Hey KU! You guys are the odds-on favorite and if the Jayhawks win at Arrowhead, I'll be riding on your bandwagon! LSU belongs there, too. Still, I think the race is still up for grabs, just like it should be. Quote
Fishing Doug Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Disclaimer: Mizzou grad As stated earlier, this thing is still wide open. As it stands now, my 'speculation' is that LSU will play the winner of the Big 12 Championship since they will have either 1 loss (Mizzou or Oklahoma) or undefeated (KU). The winner of the Big 12 will have beat 2 top 6 teams in their last 2 games. That certainly has to be enough to jump Oregon-even though Oregon has the tougher S.O.S. With that being said, none of the teams listed above have an easy ride to the National Championship game....lot of things can happen in the next 3 weeks. Quote
ring fry Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 I really hate to agree with a Moo grad but I think you have it nailed down. It will definately be an interesting next three weekends. Quote
