Speckled Bass Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Find out why vanity plates are actually an ad for thieves to target you and more: This article is scary. http://finance.yahoo.com/family-home/article/103804/Ten-Things-the-DMV-Will-Not-Tell-%20You?mod=weekend%20tag Quote
Super User Munkin Posted November 8, 2007 Super User Posted November 8, 2007 Have to add that while you register your boat trailer at the DMV your boat is registered through the DNR. It took me waiting in line 3 hours at the DMV to find that one out. Allen Quote
Super User burleytog Posted November 9, 2007 Super User Posted November 9, 2007 I hate the ******* DMV with a passion usually reserved for ******* perverts and scalleywags. > My local DMV is quite devious. When you get your number, it has the time printed on it. They have a big digital clock on the wall behind the counter. The clock is about 5 minutes slower than that of the number printer. Therefore you think you've been waiting for less time than you actually have. Forget going postal, one of these days I may go DMV... Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 9, 2007 Super User Posted November 9, 2007 DMV and Wal Mart are very similar......25 checkout lanes but only 6 are open. Quote
Fisher of Men Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 DMV and Wal Mart are very similar......25 checkout lanes but only 6 are open. Your Wal-mart has 6. Gee, ours very seldom has more than 3 or 4. > Quote
Red Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 DMV and Wal Mart are very similar......25 checkout lanes but only 6 are open. Your Wal-mart has 6. Gee, ours very seldom has more than 3 or 4. > ours usually has two or three "real" people and then about four of the 18 self checkout's open ;D Quote
Super User 5bass Posted November 9, 2007 Super User Posted November 9, 2007 6 lanes open at Wal Mart's around here is during the busiest times....just like the DMV, 100+ people waiting and 6 or 7 lanes open. Its not uncommon to have a 3 hour trip to the DMV. I try to do everything online now if at all possible. Quote
Olebiker Posted November 9, 2007 Posted November 9, 2007 DMV and Wal Mart are very similar......25 checkout lanes but only 6 are open. Sounds like Home Depot around here. I have tried to explain to them that they could pay for the extra cashier from the sales they lose from people like me who won't wait in line. Lowe's always seems to have enough cashiers and they are about a mile away. Quote
Super User Sam Posted November 10, 2007 Super User Posted November 10, 2007 I had to wait an hour and a half to renew my Virginia drivers license this past April. The DMV clerks just don't care. They are as slow as postal workers and they can cop an attitude at a drop of a hat. My wife had to get her license renewed and had a favorable experience after waiting about a half hour. Her vision test was a joke as she needed new glasses, which she got two weeks later. As for registering your boat, the City of Richmond, the Commonwealth of Virginia and the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries all know what boat and motor you have. That is how we pay the personal property tax to our counties and cities and the registration renewals from DGIF. As they say, "just follow the money." Quote
