rocknfish9001 Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Well i ran some good times this year. Heres an overview of my top 5 times. Btw, these are all 5k times, which is about 3 1/8th miles 5-16:56 4-16:45 (1st at county meet) 3-16:40 2-16:35 1-16:29 (2nd at regionals) State was a major let-down this year. I was sick going into it, and had an inconvenient asthma attack about 1 1/2-2 miles into the race, where i was sitting at 28th, which is all-state, and i ended up finishing about 60th, which is a downstep from last years top 40 finish with a 16:35. I ran a 16:56 this year. About a minute off of what i was hoping for. Ive still have track which i plan on making all state in the mile and half mile Quote
jb_from_texas Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 Keep your head up. Take that disappointment with you into track and remember how you feel now. It should be a major motivator. Good luck in track and report back. I love talking CC and track. And, make sure you toe the line each week with one thought "I have done all I could have this week to prepare." Check out (if you havent already) these links: http://www.flocasts.org/flotrack/index.php http://www.dyestat.com/ JB PS for those interested...awsome Olympic marathon trials this past weekend Quote
Guest avid Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 I really admire distance runners. The endurance required and the pain y'all endure is above and beyond. Quote
Olebiker Posted November 7, 2007 Posted November 7, 2007 If you get a chance, check out this article about my cousin, Thomas Davis, who runs cross country at Vanderbilt: http://vucommodores.cstv.com/sports/m-xc/spec-rel/102407aaa.html (It's hard for me to imagine that, at 56 years old, I have a cousin who is a sophomore in college.) If you ever want a role model, Thomas is one to follow. Not only is he a gifted athlete, he is an excellent student who volunteers a lot of hours at a local hospital. I want to be just like him when I grow up. Quote
rocknfish9001 Posted November 7, 2007 Author Posted November 7, 2007 Im not sure if awesome was a way to describe the olympic trials. Ryan Shay was a cool guy. Ive meet him before, and got an autographed picture of him. Anyways, i have two school records to get this year in track, and im doing everything i can to make sure that happens. Ill be researching for the best over winter training program, and i plan on doing indoor track. Ive got to run a 1:57 1/2 mile, my best is 2:00, and a 4:17 1 mile, my best is a 4:32. Its definatley possible. Quote
preach4bass Posted November 8, 2007 Posted November 8, 2007 Impressive times Rock. Are you a Senior this year, or do you have more years to compete? Are you planning on running in college? I ran CC in H.S. but went to a college that didn't have CC, and have just recently gotten involved in road racing. I love it. I'm not competitive, but it's a lot of fun anyway. Quote
rocknfish9001 Posted November 8, 2007 Author Posted November 8, 2007 well, im a senior. I didnt improve my time much this year, only by 6 seconds, but i ran in the 16's more frequently. Quote
