Guest muddy Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Th eMets blew another 5 run lead of the Powerhouse Nat's last night , squandered to Homeruns and lost in 10 inningas agai: This Bull Pen SUCKS, and lastyear it was our strong point, Oh thats right MINYA teh GENIUS came to straighten us out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We did get a lot of help from Philly pitching, as theier Starting Pitching Sucks and they lost too! Mets still ahead by one. Quote
llPa1nll Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Man you guys are all NL fans. Close races in the NL. Red Sox 3 games up over the Yankees, tied with Cleveland for best record in the AL. We will no doubt be playing the Angels in the 1st round of the ALDS. We own all the tie breakers with the Angels and Indians. Beckett on the mound tonight going for his 21st win. Go RED SOX!!! Quote
CJ Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Well Muddy the Mets better win this one tonight.Albert is back and seeing the ball pretty good.He got his 100th RBI last night and needs 4 more runs to complete his streak! It's gonna be Pedro going against Penerio. The Mets clearly have the ad.But you never know what will happen in the game of baseball.Good luck to the Mets and may the deadbirds have mercy on them. Guest muddy Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Hey CJ: What's the American League??????? Quote
CJ Posted September 27, 2007 Posted September 27, 2007 Hey CJ: What's the American League??????? I think it is a league the players go to when they are used up or got to bad of a tude to play real baseball.Like I think Bonds is goin' there next year or something. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 I can't believe the ******* Cubs spend a week playing good ball at home, build up a 3.5 game lead on the ******* Brewers, then go to ******* Florida and get swept by the sorry ******* Marlins. Sometimes the Cubs make me want to blow my ******* head off. > Quote
Guest muddy Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 The Mets are now the choke kings of MLB. Tied with the Phillies, who are themsleves not a championship quailty team. MINYA needs to go, and Willie better learn it is not about being friends wiht the players It is getting them to play. While he doesnt hit or pitch he is in charge of coaching and they lead the NL in errors in the most important month in the game, not to mention base running goof offs< GEEZ!!!!!!!!! This ain't feeling to good right now Also I spoke with Risk Kid on the phone tonigght and I have to give credit where it is do TORRE has to be considered for manager of the year for his job this year ( Yankees still %^@^@!*) Quote
CJ Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 The game wasn't televised here tonight Muddy so I missed it.I did check the box scores.I am glad to see a Cards pitcher give us a quality start.I hope they get Penerio signed.Puhols got another run and another RBI.3 more runs and he will keep the streak alive!.....It's to little,to late though :-[ Quote
llPa1nll Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Hey CJ: What's the American League??????? The American League has won 60 of the 102 World Series played. The more dominant league... ;D Quote
MitchIsFishin Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Muddy, once the Indians get past the Yankmee's, you'll find out who the American League is! ;D Seriously, I, like you, remembered seeing Gibson pitch. The ONLY pitcher, to me, since Bob Gibson who was as dominant was Nolan Ryan. Watched 2 of his no-hitters. Quote
Guest muddy Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Yea the league with the DH, steeped in tradition over there in the DOMINANT LEAGUE. Wonder if any of those managers even get to use the double switch ;D ;D ;D ;D Quote
llPa1nll Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Cmon like who wants to see a pitcher at the plate? And to be honest you guys can keep Barry "* boy" Bonds over there we dont need em. I am sure he will wind up with some team in the AL though. Quote

I am sure he will wind up with some team in the AL though. Me I want to see a pitcher at the plate.Thats how the game was made that is the art of working the order. I would rather see a very well played 1-0 pitching duel than a 13-10 slug fest. Thos who think nothingis going on , in low scoring games don't know anything about defense: watch the fielders move position on almost every pitch in the count ; Or offense; trying to spray a hit to the oppisite field and move a runner, It is may favorite spectator sport 8-) Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 It's the bottom of the 7th, down 0-1, two outs, runners on second and third and it's the pitcher's turn at bat. Pitcher has a two hit game going, no walks and firing a 95 mph fastball, sharp curve and killer changed-up: still "fresh" heading into the top of the 8th. If you are an American League manager, you're on automatic pilot or still taking your nap, the designated hitter is up. In the National League, this is when you earn your money! Quote

Uou Got that right RW; But hey I don't really wanna dis our American League Brothers, just take em to a real game, it might cure em Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 Growing up in KC and being a die-hard Royals fan during the George Brett era, I was ALWAYS an American League fan. A few years after moving to Denver, we got a National League franchise, the Colorado Rockies. Man, after getting a little exposure to "real baseball" I could never go back. On the other hand, I haven't followed baseball or watched a game since the World Series strike. : Quote
Guest muddy Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Im feeling you RW that cost the game a lot of fans, who can blame them? :-/ Quote
Super User senile1 Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 Muddy, hang on to your hat. Three games to go and the Phillies are tied with the Mets. Pineiro pitched a hell of a game against the Mets last night. I almost hated to see the Cards win because I want the Mets to take Philly. As I said, "Almost . . ." Quote
llPa1nll Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 I'll take the DH any day of the week. I like to watch a good pitchers duel. I just would rather see Big Papi at the plate rather than Curt Schilling. Thats all Im saying... Quote
Super User senile1 Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 Each to his own. I'm in the camp that prefers to have pitchers who hit. Quote

Super User senile1 Posted September 28, 2007 Super User Posted September 28, 2007 Same here, lPa1nl. We all love baseball. Quote
CJ Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 It's true the American League has dominated the sport somewhat. You know why....$$$$$$$$$$! Money takes away from the game.Guys like Steinbreiner(however you spell it)have ridiculous payrolls.Allowing him to stack up on superstars.Money will buys wins.Put a lower salary cap on the game and see what happens. Guest muddy Posted September 28, 2007 Posted September 28, 2007 Each to his own. I'm in the camp that prefers to have pitchers who hit. Thats what Im saying most cant... I see where your coming from though and respect that... The last poll the BB Writers Assoc took had it at 52 % wanted to see the DH dissapear and there has been a groundsweel of traditional support brewing to get the mound raised back I would love to see both of ths happen I remeber a better time of baseball than what the game is going too now Heres the point I grew up watching a game where the hitter leaned in to get to the sweet part of the plate, maybe jhe was trying to pull a ball to left field, maybe he was messin with the pitcher. In thise days the pitcher would put one hIgh and inside, we called it " Chin music" if that didnt ork and let's say this particular hitter had hit a HR last time out against said pitcher; said pitcher would hit him with the next ball. HENCE THE PHRASE " TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM" WE used to watch Brok steal every base and then some, Juan Marichal ( Best winning pct of any pitcher in the Hall of Fame) throw pitches that sometimes traveld as slow as a granmother walki8ng up a hill, and because the mound was at the traditional hieght , those balls would break and guys would like Winefield chasing a Nolan Ryan Express. We watched Johnny Bench , the best catcher I ever saw, captin the defense and call impecable games. Thats right in those days the catchers set the defense and called their won games. Most catchers were the best baseball minds around. SO TO YOU WHO THINK NIOTHING IS GOING ON A LOT IN BASE BALL; WATCHE THE DEFENSE MOVE AROUND PITCH BY PITCH INTO THE COUNT. YOU CAN REALLY WATCH THIS FROM THE CHEAP SEATS THE BEST! WATCH A GUY TRY TO SQUEZE A FAST BALL INTO LEFT FIELD, COUNTING ON AN INSIDE FAST BALL. THE DEFENSE IS SHOWING A SET SO TO SPEAK AND HE IS EXPECTING FAST BALL AND HE GETS A SIR CHARLES CURVE BALL AND GETS TO GO AND SITT AND THINK ABOUT HIS NEXT AT BAT!!!!!!! Ive seen Ernie Banks,Pete Rose,Willie Mays <Roberto Clemente, Foster, Nolan Ryan, Marichal, BOB GIBSON,Kofax,Ozzie Smith.Lou Brock,Palmero, carlton. it goes on and on WHAT A GAME> BASEBALL got greedy on boths ens (Player and Management) they got contolled by TV money and whored themsleves into where they are now Faster games with more ad times ONE LAST QUESTION; WHY SPEED UP THE GAME??????? IS EVERY ONE IN SUCH A RUSH TO GET BACK TO WORK? THIS IS A GAME BORN OF A SLOWER LESS COMPLICATED TIME, IT MAY BE THE ONLY 3 HOURS OF A DAY WHERE I CAN LIVE CAREFREE 8-) Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 29, 2007 Posted September 29, 2007 Whew... glad im not a mets fan. (Sorry muddy) Quote
