bassmasta7 Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 I never thought .500 would happen but 64-64 in second place. :'( of happiness Quote
Super User senile1 Posted August 29, 2007 Super User Posted August 29, 2007 Quote Quote As most of you know I'm a long-time Cards fan, and have suffered with them as injuries, less than expected production from marquee players, and management's decision to not give away the franchise to keep and aquire talent has kept them out of contention this year. I really gave up on them having any chance of making the play-offs a couple of months ago, BUT hope springs eternal. With the competition in our division, and some better play lately we may have a chance! As the last couple of years have shown, once you make the post-season anything can happen 8-). Go Cards!!! Hey K mac What kind of fans do the Cards have :GEEZ ;D A lot of you were jumpin ship in July, I even posted then Don't count them out. I have learned from sitting in shea Mets Behind by a few runs ,two out , bottomof the ninth and they come back to tie the game, while all those mooks are already on the #7 train home. NEVER GIVE UP til strike three / out three!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way it really is useless for you guys It's our turn this year Muddy, we're just humble . . . . and sneaky. We may have stated that the Cardinals chances were slim, but deep down inside the redbird hope is always there. Go Redbirds, Baby! Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 30, 2007 Posted August 30, 2007 ARUGHH!!! We loose a chance to take one in Philly, and 3rd out on an interferance call!!!!!! Maybe it will wake them up. Game one did have some horrible balls/strike calling but I firmly believe if you are playing your "A" game you take the results out of the umps hand. Tonights call was a good one, no chance of a double play, and Anderson swept him off the bag INTERFERNENCE. Maybe Willie can wake them up now, he needs a closed door what the &*(&*@# are you guys doing meeting badly. Now we go to Atlanta Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 swept by the philthies WAGNER IS TURNING OUT TO BE DOUG SISK II(the sequel) THIS GUY CAN'T SAVE GAMES YOU REALLY NEED HIM TO SAVE. IF THIS TEAM DOEN'T WAKE UP THEY WILL BE WATCHING THE WORLD SERIES AT HOME. AT LEAST THEIR TV'S ARE BETTER THAN MINE GEEZZZ!!!!!!!! Quote
Super User senile1 Posted August 31, 2007 Super User Posted August 31, 2007 Wow. I didn't think the Phillies could sweep four games from the Mets. Now they're only two games behind them. The Mets need to wake up and do some damage in Atlanta. Quote

Super User senile1 Posted August 31, 2007 Super User Posted August 31, 2007 Muddy, I was just reading on cbssportline.com that Hudson, who is pitching for the Braves tonight, has a 1.93 ERA against the Mets this year in two winning starts. However, he struggled with the Cardinals a few games ago, after winning 9 straight. The Mets are due to win one. Let's hope it's tonight. Quote

Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Better than those sissy Orvis fly fishing crap the Yankees use in the Catskills. Matching Safari hats and fly vests Geezzz!!!!!!! Quote
CJ Posted September 2, 2007 Posted September 2, 2007 Wow!I have missed out on this thread this year.Muddy the Mets are lookin' great! The whole National league central looked bad(with the exception of the Brewer's early season),now we have a tight race! The Cubs would be favored but I am pullin' for my Cards!Probally missed it but Ankiel has made for a great baseball story. He hit another HR today.Where did this guy come from? It's obvious he was born to play the game!CJ Quote
Super User senile1 Posted September 3, 2007 Super User Posted September 3, 2007 Muddy, you have to feel a little better. The Mets swept the Braves and the Phillies dropped a couple of games. Hang in there! CJ, I'm with you on Ankiel. He was the Cardinals savior this weekend. Without him we couldn't have swept the Reds. We're still two games out. Mulder is supposed to join the rotation any day now. Hope springs eternal. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 3, 2007 Posted September 3, 2007 Yea Senile we have Pedro on the way. He will get a hang nail and be out til 2011 Next What a crybaby he would look so much better in a Yankee Uniform The Phillies still have a lot of games against that pathetic Florida squad, the Mets really need to win every series they play now. Cards are in the weeds ;D Quote
llPa1nll Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Red Sox now 7 games up. Was surprised as heck that they got swept by the NYY last week. Hopefully Manny and Wakefield will return fast and healthy. What about the Red Sox's Rookie throwing a NO NO!?! Quote
RiskKid. Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Quote Yea Senile we have Pedro on the way. He will get a hang nail and be out til 2011 Next What a crybaby he would look so much better in a Yankee Uniform No thanks.....we got enough lousy pitching.....he'll always look best in a Bosox suit.....send him up there! Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 I would drive him at this point Quote
llPa1nll Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 I was sad to see em go. He did wonders for us in 2003 and 2004, cant argue that... Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 He's done wonders for the sports medicine people since we got em Quote
CJ Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Pedro has difenantly give the trainers plenty of jos security.I can't say much though the Cards trainers are working overtime. There are 3 reasons the Cards will win their division: 1.The Cubs won't run away with it. 2.The Brewers won't run away with it. 3.The bullpen. Muddy, you better pray the Cards don't make the playoffs! Quote
Super User senile1 Posted September 6, 2007 Super User Posted September 6, 2007 I'm happy the Cubs and Brewers are allowing the Cardinals to stay close. If they were playing some good baseball we'd be in trouble. Mulder didn't perform too well on his return last night. We've lost 2 of 3 to the Pirates. I hope we can even the series tonight. Quote
CJ Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Mulder's return wasn't the best but there were promising signs that show he will be back in top form, just give him a little more time. All he needed to do was get the ball down and he did some. The Pirates made him pay for anything up in the zone. They didn't miss a pitch. Most teams would have been a little more forgiving. The Pirates may be in last place but they are tearing the cover off the ball right now. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 YO CJ ; the Cards are always formidible advesaries! I would rather have to face the best going into the world series than a slug team. Ali would not have been Ali without Frasier, The Lakers wouldnt have been the Lakers without the Celtics and the Yankees( I hate even typing that name}would not be the same without the Redsox. Great rivalries bring out the best from both squads. I am a Life long Met's fan and i can tell you from experience last place teams like knocking conteders out of the picture, sometimes it makes their season. LAST PLACE TEAMS are very dangerous during the pennant races See: Philies vs Floridia!!!!!!! The 70's version of the Met's were horrible but they frequently were among few teams with winning series against the Dodgers, one of the eleite teams of the late 70's. The only thing a last place team has sometimes is NOT IN OUR PARK going for them and they wind up taking 2 out of three or sweeping a pennant chasing team. Maybe it also has to do with the better teams counting the W before they even play the game and don't play at their best. Probablly a combination of the 2. Quote
CJ Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 So true,Muddy! Sorry you aren't getting to fill the excitment us Cards fans are right now. ::)Just sayin' the Mets shouldn't have much to worry about, that is winning their division.Just had to hound you a little Mudman. And I won't type "that" name. The central has all of a sudden come alive. And a big thanks to the Dodgers! BTW,...WOOHOO!...How about Rick Ankiel!2 homers and 7 RBIs today! He's hot! On another note, the Cards still can't get that #4 or #5 starter going.I still expect good things from Mulder but Maroth just don't got it.Reyes looked better today. Quote
Replica. Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Quote BTW,...WOOHOO!...How about Rick Ankiel!2 homers and 7 RBIs today! He's hot! It's a great comeback story, but the HGH accusations have cast a cloud over him. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Hey GOOD NEWS fellas the first letter of that other New ork team is stuck on me keeboard so until uit's fixed i will call them the ANKEES : Quote
CJ Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Yeah,I haven't turned on the news yet but someone told me about the accusations of Ankiel using HGH.He really don't look like he uses growth hormone but you never know.I heard this was from 2004.I hope it doesn't cause a big stir. But,even though I am a Redbirds and Ankiel fan,if he's guilty let him be punished.CJ Quote
