Wow 31/2 in first, still can't dominate the Braves, which may come back to bite the Mets. Delgado found his swing two monster blasts last night.

And in the Bronx the ::: The NY Daily News din't have enough page space to show them 111/2 in the cellar ;D

I went to the Smoltz vs. Glavine game on Thursday. It was a great game. Smoltz got his 200th win so I saw history. I think that win puts him into the Hall. As for the Cardinals, ummmm..... when is carp coming back? If the cards could just hang on until July when Mulder comes back they could be OK but Carp isnt coming back until August so it isnt lookin good. If the cards could be at .500 at the start of August they would be in striking distance because I dont think the Brewers will continue to dominate. We still are the champs. :)

Carl, I feel your pain. Well, actually, I don't, but I'm trying to say something nice here . . .

Appreciate the thought and effort Norm......but you should be be really enjoying this....and I'm reasonably sure you are.

How about Muddy's all time favorite Yankee A-Rod carousing the strip clubs of Toronto with a "mystery blond"......maybe he should be more concerned about a losing streak.....

Hey Karl for real I've been there, I hope it gets better for your team.I will be truely amazed if Torre survives this, and it's not his fault. YOUR GM has his head up his you know what

I beleive The Boss has Cashman on the hotseat and Torre is safe for now. If this keeps up I wouldn't want to be any of them. I'm just imagining what will happen if Clements bombs out. This will be an interesting season for us Yankee fans for all the wrong reasons. This team obviously lacks the desire and intensity and needs rebuilding. There are some good young arms in the minors. I still love Jeter, Posada and Matsui. Damon has been a good addition and we'll see about Cano and Cabrera. Rivera, Mussina, Pettit are in their twilite. If I was Torre I'd feel like it was time to pass the baton. I imagine he is more tired and frustrated than anyone but has too much class to show it. Teixeira is rumored to possibly become available, I would like that addition at 1B (dreaming here).

Carl, the headline on the NY Post this morning: STRAY-ROD

I am certainly enjoying the Red Sox lead. Was at Fenway last night, as a matter of fact, and watched Beckett pick up where he left off before going on the DL. Being a lifer Sox fan, I keep pinching myself, hoping it's not just a dream.

Getting rid of Torre isn't going to help much. And I'm undecided about Cashman, Muddy. In retrospect, getting rid of Sheffield may have been a mistake, and I do think Abreu, though not as bad as he's playing now, is certainly an overrated player. Doug M. at a power position like first base is certainly questionable, and what's with Cano? On paper the Yankees are a decent team, but the veterans they have are not realy clubhouse leaders, and without real mentors, the young guys don't know how to handle the adversity the team is facing. The result is a flat, disjointed team, I think.

I gotta say this about my fellow Sox fans, though: forget the Yankees and start focusing on teams like the Angels and Tigers. Last night at Fenway a Yankees suck cheer went up after the final Yankees score was posted, and while I was driving in listening to sports radio, a Sox fan called in saying the team should juggle its rotation so our best starters face the Yanks this weekend. Give me a break!!! It's as if the Sox were only a half-game ahead. The whole Yankees obsession thing has really gotten out of hand.

Lots of baseball yet to play. . .

I knew this was too good to be  true!! The bull pen is falling apart and Wagner would look better in pin stripes  SWEPT BY THE PHILITHIES >:(

I just got back from St. Louis. It was a great weekend even though the cards lost both of the games i went to against the Angels. It was the second time i had been to the new stadium and i like it much better now that the dissappointment of losing the old one is gone.

Muddy, your Mets are looking good!My Cards...not so much,as I predicted during Spring Training.I gottta say they had a good series this week, just would have liked to see the last game go to 9 innings.Oh well. CJ

I would have also like to see the game go 9 especially with Reyes throwing a 2 hitter and glavine throwing a 1 hitter. I would also like to see everyone get healthy including Carpenter, Mulder, Eckstein, Johnson, Molina, Looper, Rolen, Edmonds, Wilson, you know basically the whole team. No wonder we are doing so bad. If they can be within striking distance in August, everyone will get healthy and they will be able to make a run for the playoffs. The Maroth trade was good especially after how he pitched in his first start. I wish they were in contention that way they could do a trade for Buehrle. I really hope he signs with us in the off season. He got in trouble last year for saying he wants to play for the Cards in his career. I think he will even take a home-town discount. After not having enough starting pitchers this year, i think they will have too many next year. Right now though, they are really starting to fall out of the race.

The only reason they look good is because the NL East is so bad. Beltran is back in the mix now, blasted off the few games too!!!! At this point ( STILL TOO EARLY) they would have to win the division to get in they would actually be out of the wild card!Once the rest of the outfield is healthy we should really pull ahead. Of course Pedro will come back for his usual 12 wins then out for the post season run.

Think my Yanks can RIP for this year. Hate to lose Torre but it has been a great run and it's probably time for changes and new energy. He's probably worn out and who can blame him. I just hope we can be patient with the minor league system and start rebuilding (like the Brewers) instead of trading them away.

How about those Brewers....Nashville is their AAA affiliate and they have more stuff here yet to come. I am enjoying going to some of these games. I think they could show up in the postseason....I'm kind of pulling for them, you have to love watching all that young talent coming of age together.

WOW THE ALLSTAR BREAK IS JUST ABOUT HERE. I ASKED THE MODS TO PUT THIS UP AS A STICKY AT THE START OF THE YEAR I CAN SEE NOW THAT IT WAS BETTER TO START AFTER THE ALL STAR BREAK. I GUESS IT IS HARD FOR THE YANKEE FANS TO SHOW MUCH INTEREST AS REALLY THEY NEED SOME ROPE AND CARBINERS TO CLIMB OUTTA THE HOLE THEY ARE IN ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!

I HOPE THE CARD'S WAKE UP THE SECOND HALF, THEY HAVE GREAT TALENT AND THEY JUST CAN'T SEEM TO GET THE W'S ALL TOGETHER IN A ROW'

THE ONLY RESAON MY METS ARE IN FIRST IS THE REST OF THE EAST IS WEAK THIS YEAR. WE HAVE MAINTINED FIRST WITH THE WORSE STARTING (PITCHING) ROTATION OF ANY CONTENER, A QUESTIONABLE MIDDLE RELIEF AND NOW A DECIMATED OUTFIELD>>>>WILLIE RANDOLPH IS TURNING OUT TO BE A GREAT YOUNG MANAGER ;)

Now we have a starting pitcher announcing to Bonds that he is throwing him nothing but fastballs!!!!!!!!!! This idea of which ever leauge wins the all star game that leauge gets the homefield advantage is starting to suck more and more each year.  >:(

I think it will do pretty well for the Boston Red Sox run in the fall, god willing. Just because the National League is 1-10 in the last 11 All Star games doesnt mean its a bad idea.  ;D

Your right there muddy. C'mon, bases loaded 2 outs bottom of the 9th, you can send up the best hitter in baseball the last 5 years to pinch hit but dont because there would be no one left if some one gets hurt. If it didnt count, Pujols would have been there for what could have been literally one of the biggest moments in the pathetic history of the MLB allstar game. Tony said today he would have done it differently looking back now. I mean if someone did get hurt, big deal, there were pitchers still left to play that could have played outfield. That would have been something to see.

So La Russa didn't play Albert Pujols in the All-Star game and the media wants to make a big deal of it.  Since the All-Star game, Pujols has hit 4 home runs in 3 games, after going 22 games (I think) without a home run.  It looks like the extra day of rest did him some good.  Maybe, just maybe, La Russa knew what he was doing.  Only time will tell.  Pujols started slow but he's now batting .315, with 20 homers, and 57 RBIs.  For most guys those would be excellent stats.  For Pujols they are below average.

Willie had better light some kind of fire under my Mets or this team will be chasing the Braves by the end of the month   ARRUGHHH!!!!!!!!! >:(

Looks like the Sox are bringing back Schilling real slow. He threw a 20 pitch session the other day and he has 2 starts with their minor league team in Pawtucket. They dont need to rush him back Kason Gabbard had a 3 hitter complete game last night. Sure and steady its also nice to see Manny and Big Papi start to hit the way we are used to seeing them hit. Go Sox!
