Fish Man Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 well the O's are lookin pretty good against the tigers..hopfully it will stay that way Quote
Valascus Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 As far as the whole weather and baseball scheduling thing goes, MLB realy dropped the ball on this one. There are plenty of warm weather parks and parks with retractible roofs on them. I will say that the weather right now is an absolute freak of nature, but the schedulers should think about this ahead of time and take the proper scheduling precautions to keep things like the Angels and Indians at...Milwaukee from happening. RiskKid. Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 A ROD!!!!!!!!!! Player of the Week!!!!!!!! Who da thunk it! :o Quote
Panamoka_Bassin Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 I would have! After all the crap about him not staying a Yankee, plus having an "off" year, add to the fact that he's in an option year, I was pretty sure he'd be REALLY good this year. Granted, I know that he's only played a week's worth of ball this year, but I also have him winning the AL MVP again this year... Remember this post in September and we'll see if I'm right... Quote

I saw Jon Kruk talking about this on baseball tonight and he made a good point that I had not considered. If you play all the early games in warm weather cities, later in the year those teams will have to play a lot of road games. Those games could come at the end of the year when that team is pushing for a playoff spot. Let's say the Angels have to play 20 road games in September while the Indians get to play 20 home games. It wouldn't be fair. This year has been a freak occurance with the weather, and hopefully it won't happen again for a few years. Quote

Hawgin Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Man, just finished watching Zac Greinke dealing on his second consecutive great start. 6 innings, 1 earned, 6 K's, and a win. Through his first 13.0 innings he has given up 2 earned and struck out 12, with only 1 walk. I know this doesn't excite you 500 million dollar payroll New Yorkers, but for a Royals fan you find any positive you can. Oh yeah, and Alex Gordon broke his slump with his first major league homer. bassmasta7 Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Cards pull it out in 12 innings. Back to .500 baby!!! And the new guys pitched great!!! Who needs Carpenter!!!! Quote

Grienke has been the most impressive Royal thus far in my opinion. Did you see him hit 97 on the gun a couple times tonight? I had no idea he could run it up that hard. That's a good thing to have. He consistently throws his fastball in the 89-92 range with movement. Then if he reaches back and puts one up to 97 ..... that's going to be tough to hit. Quote
Valascus Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Cards pull it out in 12 innings. Back to .500 baby!!! And the new guys pitched great!!! Who needs Carpenter!!!! Trust me...the Cards will need a healthy Carp or this year could be rough. Wainwright will hold his own, Reyes may hold his own...we know what his potential is, Kip Wells sample size this year is still kinda small for me to say one way or another right now...same with Looper. Let's let the 162 game marathon grind down on Reyes, Looper, and Wells and see how it goes. Reyes is a little on the injury prone side, as is Kip Wells, and Looper hasn't had to work as many innings as he will be required to this year in a looooooooooooong time. Kiesler pitched well last night, but he is definately not a long term solution. Kudos to him and the Cards though for pulling out the extra innings W. Quote

IMO, Greinke has always been a decent pitcher. His first season he pitched well but the Royals wouldn't put any runs on the board for him. In his second season, I think the losing got into his head and he didn't pitch as well. Now that he has regrouped I hope he has a good season. Quote

Ahhh, They play football in the snow, why not baseball. It would be cool. ;D Be fun trying to find a whitish brown ball in the snow. Quote

It's still very early in the season but three teams are tied for first in the National League Central division with .500 records. This may be one of the weakest divisions regarding regular season wins again this year. Time will tell. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I was just kidding about the carp thing. The cards win again today with a homer in the 9th by Chris Duncan. 3 to 2 over the Pirates to complete the sweep. Wainwright pitched good today. I am not worried about the season. If anything, we may need hitting more than pitching. Albert hasnt even gotten going yet. It should be a good series coming up against who i believe is the second best team in the division, the Brewers. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted April 11, 2007 Super User Posted April 11, 2007 Bassmasta7, I was just reading about the sweep of the Pirates. The pitching has been surprisingly good. If the Cardinal's pitchers continue to do this well, and it should be only a matter of time before Pujols and company awaken, then the Cardinals may surprise a few people. CBSsportsline.com has them ranked 13th right now in their power rankings due to their unproven starting pitchers and the loss of Carp, Quote

bassmasta7 Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 And my boy, JD Drew breaks up the no-no. Great outing by Hernandez who is absoulutely sick. This start may make him known nation wide. He was like what 19 when he came to the league. He has nasty stuff and the potential to be one of the top aces in the game. He is well on his way. Dice who? Quote

Bassassasin12 Posted April 14, 2007 Posted April 14, 2007 That was some of the best pitching I have seen in a while, that was a Johan Santana like performance. Fernandez kind of reminds me of Liriano from the Twins. All hail A-Rod!!! ;D Quote
