RiskKid. Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Take that Yanks ........ Royals win Opening Day just to get off on the right foot, then drop the next two just for the Yankees. > ;D Ugh....then we lose to the D Rays  :'( Quote
Super User senile1 Posted April 6, 2007 Super User Posted April 6, 2007 HOLY CRAP!! WE SWEPT THE CARDS that won't happen for another 50 years!! What a start, maybe just maybe we won't need that big crybaby Pedro after all Muddy, I'm worried about my World Series Champs. Â Not only were they swept, but they were outscored 20 to 2 in three games. Â That's just downright ugly. Â The Cardinals have displayed no offense at all and their pitching has sucked, not to mention that Carpenter was complaining of inflammation in his elbow on the first day and he won't pitch against Houston today. Â Duncan hopes he'll be ready for Pittsburgh next week. Â I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this is just an early season glitch. Â The whole team appears to be in a slump. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Bertter now than in Sept., they just can't dig a hole too deep they can't get out. How bout how the Pirates swept the Stros, WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?????? Quote
Super User senile1 Posted April 6, 2007 Super User Posted April 6, 2007 Yeah, that's right. Â Some prognosticators were picking the Pirates to perform better this year although nothing close to the teams they fielded in the 70s. Â Houston and the Cardinals share the NL central cellar right now. Â Quote
bassmasta7 Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 In those first three games, it looks like the cards picked up right where they left off at the end of the regular season. They just cant hit and pitching has been up and down. That was how it was in those two 8 game losing streaks last year. I do have to give some credit to the mets pitching staff because it wasnt all the cardinals lack of hitting. These pitchers are tough especially at the beginning of the year when no one is into the swing of things yet. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 Carp is supposed to now pitch on Tuesday. I get to go to the Braves game tonight. I forgot they are playing the Mets. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted April 6, 2007 Super User Posted April 6, 2007 bassmasta7, you're right. Â The Mets pitched good, and they handled their gloves well. Â BTW, I like your signature. Â ;D Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 BASSMASTA7 have a good time at the game, I am at &*#$$@WORK and would love to be there myself! Quote
RiskKid. Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 Slow start for the pinstripes....UGH....losses to the D Rays and Orioles  :'(....thank goodness there are 159 more games to go. Igawa is up next, I'm really interested to see how that goes Nice start for the Amazins Muddy....How did they look to you in person tonight Bassmasta....you got to see some offense!!!.....Glavine vs Smoltz tomorrow should be fun...... Quote
bassmasta7 Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 35 degrees, windy, freezing, lost 11-1 and i had a great time. The game was close till the 6th, then the mets got the bats going and the braves put their gloves away. Reyes was sick with 2 triples and i think 4RBIs and 2 runs. The game was standing room only but there were a good number of seats left. We sat in the upper deck past 3rd base. In the 7th inning my friends and i moved down to 10 rows behind the braves dugout. Then we moved 3 rows behind the dugout. Then we moved to the front row behind the braves dugout. That was about the 8th inning. You know that a** hole that is always behind the dugout that you can see when they show the hitter on his cell phone talking to his buddy saying "Am I on tv? Im waving. Can you see me? You can! What am I doing now? Still waving! I am on TV!" Well tonight i can proudly say that a** hole was me. My dad recorded the game and when they show left handed batters in the 8th and 9th inning, you can see me. I was easy to find since for some crazy reason I was the only person wearing a Cardinals World series champs shirt, sweatshirt and hat. Needless to say, no mets fans made any comments about it. My friend ended up getting a ball tossed up by one of the coaches. Even though it wasnt a great game or conditions, i still had a great time. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted April 7, 2007 Super User Posted April 7, 2007 Man ..... the Mets are playing some ball right now.  I was flipping back and forth between the Royals/Tigers and Braves/Mets all night.  I probably saw you bassmasta7 and didn't even know it  What's the deal with Burgos??  That guy has a helluva arm.  Tons of life on all his pitches.  I bet he threw more strikes in the 8th inning tonight than he threw for the Royals all of last season. : ;D  If he can continue to get a head in the count, he has some real potential to become a dominant closer.  I have a feeling this is yet another Royal prospect that got away. Quote
Fish Man Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 how bout them orioles in new york hehehe..i told u we would get a win  Quote
bassmasta7 Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 Yeah Burgos can be great. Last year he blew 12 of 30 saves. Those are Jason Isringhausen numbers right there. Quote
Panamoka_Bassin Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 Yeah, I knew the O's would be tough, but I also thought Moose would handle them better than he did. Â Right now, all I have to say is that the Yanks look like ca-rap. Â Jeter has 2 errors, the pitching staff is a mess (apart from Rivera), and Jonny Damon is hurt. Â Ugh, at least the Sox aren't doing well to start the season either... Quote
Super User senile1 Posted April 8, 2007 Super User Posted April 8, 2007 Albert Pujols is 1 for 17, .059 batting avg, 0 RBIs, and 0 HRs. Â I'm looking forward to him breaking this slump. Â After six years of totally unreal statistical consistency, he's bound to have a down year eventually. Â I hope this isn't it. Quote
RiskKid. Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 HOLY MACKERAL!!! A-Rod belts a walk off grand slam w/ 2 outs in the 9th....could it be this is the year........ :o :o :o Quote
Fish Man Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 O's take the yankees......YEA BOY!!!!!!! Â 8-) Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Geez still can't beat the Braves!!!!!!!!!! Our bats were silent , can't say nothing bad about the starting pitchers. THOSE $&*#@*BRAVES continue to have our number. Last year was the only year in a while that we had a seson winning record against them. I have much respect for their club! Quote
Valascus Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Seems like the beast known as the Cardinals offense has woke up...'bout time. However...now it's time to see what this team is really made of. Chris Carpenter has been scratched for Tuesdays start and is on his way back to the team doctor in St. Louis with elbow swelling...as if our pitching staff wasn't thin enough already. : On an up note...how about Kip well throwing some one hit ball! Kudos to him and hopefully he has some continued success. Quote

Kudos to him and hopefully he has some continued success. Rather than waking up, I think it's more like their offense was raised from the dead. Â I mean, hey, yesterday was Easter. Â Â Let's hope this wasn't a one day thing. Â Looper is pitching tonight and I still don't see him as a dependable starter, but I hope he proves me wrong. Â Quote
RiskKid. Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Jim Rome on his radio show today interviewed Brooks Robinson. I always knew he was a great guy but never heard him before. What a class act he is. One of the all time greats and a great ambassador for the Orioles! Quote
bassmasta7 Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 Wow. Looper was very impressive today. He threw seven scoreless innings, ryan franklin threw one scoreless, and Izzy got the save without allowing a baserunner. Shutting out the hot pirates is pretty good. The Carp news doesnt sound to great but overall, the cards pitching staff looks pretty decent. The only starter that has allowed more than 3ER in a game is Carpenter. Wainwright pitched great, Looper great, Wells amazing, and Reyes decent. Who needs Carpenter anyways? Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted April 9, 2007 Super User Posted April 9, 2007 How about the Angels and Indians ...... playing in Milwaukee. Â Yeah, that makes sense. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 I cant imagine what the weather is like in Cleveland. They had to cancel the whole mariners series. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted April 10, 2007 Super User Posted April 10, 2007 Cardinal comment: Looper pitched very well today. Â Here's to him being able to do this over the whole season. Â The KC Star paper today showed 5 Mariners laying in the snow. Â Some appeared to be making snow angels. Â Quote
