Opening day has to be one of the best days of the year.

First off, I usually take the day off rather that be from school, work, or both ;).  It's usually warm enough to go fishing so I do that in the morning.  Forecast is looking good for Monday.  High in the low 80's.  Yipee, but it looks like the wind will start to become troublesome around noon.  No problem.  That will give me enough time to get home to get ready for the Royals game.  Open up the windows, let the spring breeze blow in, sip on some iced tea while I watch the game.  Ahhhh life is good.  Then to top it off, the NCAA B-ball championship is that night.  Looking forward to Monday.

KU-

Enjoy the day and watching the R's kick off their season while I will stuck behind my desk at work.  I will have the game on the radio, and will probably have the gamecast open in a small window on my desktop.  It's okay though, I already have Thursday off, and tickets purchased to watch Greinke outduel Dice-K in his major league debut.  It's supposed to be a great spring like 50 degrees that day.

FIRST BLOOD!!!!!!!!! Glavine needs 9 more to get 300 I hope he gets to do it in Atlanta

Yeah, Glavine has always had the number of my Cardinals.  I thought Carpenter would pitch a better game.  He has a 7.5 ERA after one game with 5 earned runs in 6 innings pitched.  That's out of character.  I'm sure he'll turn it around.  (I hope.)

I thought you were smart enough to not be a Cardinals fan.  Oh well, at least when Carpenter struggles you can look to Kip Wells and Braden Looper to pick up the slack ;D...........I almost typed that without laughing.

;)  Hawgin, I've always been a Cardinals fan and I always will be no matter how bad or how good they do.  I just can't forget my roots.  Anyway, it hasn't been too bad - three series in the 60s with 2 wins, none in the 70s, three series in the 80s with 1 win, none in the 90s, and 2 series in the 2000s with 1 win.  I can live with that.   :)  Now if the Chiefs could just grab a Superbowl in the next 5 years, I'd be a happy camper.  When I'm not rooting for the Cardinals in baseball,  I'm rooting for the Royals, so I'd like to see them emulate some of the success they enjoyed in the late 70s and into the 80s.

What a day so far!!!!

Went out this morning and absolutely wore them out on a Rat-l-trap.  The thumb is raw!!!!   :)  Third cast of the day I landed a nice chuncky 4 lber and for about the first two hours I bet I didn't go 10 cast without a bite.  I also caught about a 6 lbs catfish that I was sure was the new state record bass before I saw it.  :( Big disappointment.  Got home in time to see the bottom of the first.  1-1 in the bottom of the 2nd with the Royals threatening. :)

Then we got the B-ball game tonight.

What a day

Good morning of fishing KU.  And then to top it off you get to see Meche absolutely DOMINATE the Red Sox.  I know we are going to struggle badly at times this year, but I'm more excited for this team than any in recent memory.

I'm absolutly furious!  Yes, the Sox lost, but that's not the reason.

I came home from school at about 3:20, expecting to flip on the TV and pick up the Sox-Royals game in the 2nd inning.  Well, for some reason, ESPN decides to show ESPNNEW's "Hot List" instead of the game in my area for some reason or another. >:(

For sure.  I know it's only one game, but Meche was very impressive.  Maybe Dayton Moore was on to something.  On the way home from fishing I listened to a radio interview of why they gave him the big contract, etc, etc, etc.  He sold me even before the game.  Now after the game I am completely sold.

Did you guys see that the Astros bullpen blew another game, and wasted a second straight great start.  Yesterday Oswalt went 7 2/3 giving up 1 earned run and Lidge blew it in the ninth.  Tonight Jennings went 6 and gave up one earned only to see Qualls give up two in the 8th to blow it again.  With their weak offense there pen is going to have to close the door when their starter throws a gem.

Man Im in Brooklyn and getting to read the Daily News is a treat best Basball paper in the world!  Interesting stories on how the Yankess offered Bernie Williams a minor league contract this year. They take care of their own yea right thats a good thank you for 16 years of top shelf ball and leadership. Maybe an option year , let him play a farwell around the league and home :(

I would love to see Bernie last forever....however there is a time to retire.......they gave him the "farewell year" last year and he performed admirably with dignity and class. Both the Yankees and Bernie showed alot of class last year which was intended to be his final year. As for the 16 years he was paid handsomely and treated with alot of respect by the fans and the orginization. He will not have to worry about his next meal and will be shown all kinds of love and gratitude at old timers day every year. Bernie should be equally thankful for the opportunity to play for one team his whole career, a team that did what it took to keep him that long in a day and age where players move at the drop of a free agent hat.

Bernie and the Yankees has been a great partnership that we don't see too often any longer  ;)

Ahhhhh Muddy, I wouldn't have it any other way........as a diehard Yankee fan we're used to being ragged on by everyone that is not a Yankee fan....it just comes with the territory. KU even ragged on us a few posts back then his team went on to beat those Red Sox.....always a welcome gesture to the Yankee Nation......Thanks to KU and his Royals!  ;D ;D

Cheers! Thanks Royals! Well I defenitly do miss Bernie but I completely agree with Risskid, he had a great 16 years and he was expected to retire after last year. Anyways tonight we get a look at Petite in the AL! I am hoping he looks good.

Yep, this is going to be a great season for all baseball fans, but especially for us Yankee fans!  I was all excited to stay home yesterday and watch the game, but rain prevailed.  I hate rain outs, but even more so when it happens on the 2nd game of the year.  I guess I'll just have to watch tonights game and hope there's no more rain in the forecast this weekend.
