Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Mets Vs Cardinals and a preview of a rapala shipment Do you need the link for Cabelas yet? Quote
Valascus Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 yep!!!!!!!!!!! the Astros are going to win the divison. sorry cards and reds!!!! hey G-man remeber last year....... that was fun!!!!!!!! HA...don't make me laugh. The 'Stros are 3 games under .500 and can't hit a beachball against teams that can actually pitch. 14-1 win? Yeah, super...IT WAS AGAINST THE PIRATES...THE WORST TEAM IN THE NATIONAL LEAGUE!! They have the worst third worst team batting avg. in the entire MLB. They have the 4th worst slugging percentage in the MLB despite playing home games in that retardedly shaped Minute Maid Park where lazy fly balls are homeruns when hit to left. They flat can't hit...not even picking up Preston Wilson last offseason or Aubrey Huff this year has helped boost their anemic offense. Yeah there pitching is still pretty good, but not even Roger Clemens can win in Houston. Brad Lidge has finally started to show his vulnerability. The 'Stros aren't good enough this year to mount a comeback even for the wildcard, not when the NL West is as strong as it is and Cincy slowing no signs of slowing down. Yeah...I remember last season...the Cardinals got beat by themselves, making costly errors and giving up uneraned runs, which ended up being key in every game they lost, with the exception of game 6 when Mulder imploded on himself. I also remember the 'Stros getting absolutely manhandled in a 4 game sweep by a far superior Chicago White Sox team. Sorry 'Stros fans this year just ain't yer year. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 no, I have Cabelas link in my favorites. I will let you know what one I'd like. I having fun with this are you? ;D This will be the best 6 bucks you have ever spent. Quote

Siebert Outdoors Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Absolutely GMAN I was thinking of that Cardinal colored X Rap to remind me of how I got it in the first place I hope it ends up in a tree too! Quote
Valascus Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I am really stoked about the Cards and Mets series. Should be a pretty good one. Last time the Mets were in town was May 16-18, and the Cards took the series 2 games to 1. However, the Cards weren't experiencing their pitching hiccups then either. But nonetheless, it could most definately be an NLCS preview. Hopefully we can slow down the Mets a little . Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Its gonna be intersting to say the least Even the managers Tony one of the best and seasoned, carries the bad post season horrible record though Willie in his 2nd year and is used to winning in the post season Both of them have done incredible jobs Ā Tony had to weather bad injuries to his pitching staff and had to compromise his double switch ability for 2 weeks and he still kept them at the same 3 1/2 games in level. Willie IMHO had to be a candidate for NL Manager of the Year and he got a lot of help from Minya (what a gm) this is gonna be classic NL base ball and Im lovin it Quote
RiskKid. Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Fella's you got it all wrong.......it's an American League world! Tigers, Yankees, Chisox, Bosox (hurting), Twins etc..... I feel a return of the trophy to it's rightful place in that garden spot we all know as "THE BRONX" Mr. Torre will lead us on to victory Ā Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 They scare me I grew up in a Bklyn Dodger house so I dont really watch the Yankees at all But they have Jeter and hes the best money player in the game come Oct. So theyu just scare me Ā Mets win 4 to 3 Ā Series goes 7 Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 I see my post was removed regarding baseball. I guess some did not understand the post as humor, and not as disrespect for nationalities. For anyone who saw my post before it was deleted, and took offense, here is an explaination. 1. Many people associated with baseball know about Chicago Cubs infielders Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers, and Frank Chance formed the most memorable double-play combination in the history of baseball. "Baseball's Sad Lexicon" These are the saddest of possible words: "Tinker to Evers to Chance." Trio of bear cubs, and fleeter than birds, Tinker and Evers and Chance. Ruthlessly pricking our gonfalon bubble,* Making a Giant hit into a double-- Words that are heavy with nothing but trouble: "Tinker to Evers to Chance."** 2. Major League Baseball is referred to as America's Pastime. 3. Last night on BLUE COLLAR TV, which airs on the WB network, there was brief comedy skit about baseball by Larry the Cable Guy. He used the same line as I did, except I used 3 Mets players because the thread was started by a Mets fan. The post combined a parody of famous line Tinker to Evers to Chance, along with a play on America's Passtime because many players in the MLB list their hometowns (and I repeat hometowns) are from places not in the United States. And the three players I listed were infield players who state their hometowns are located outside the U.S. It was not a disrespect of nationalities as the players mentioned have hometowns from various counties, none of which is the U.S. As a matter of fact my uncle played in the MLB for over 20 years and he was not born in this country. Since it was removed, I guess some people didn't quite get the humor, so I decided to explain the post. Sorry if anyone took offense. Zel, that was done on accident. Ā Once it is deleted, we can't get it back. Ā my mistake. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Wow, I've missed a lot of talk about my Cards. Isringhausen is getting ridiculous with the blown saves. The Cards are turning it around though. They are going to streak in sept. and run away with the division. (I hope that Astros thing was a joke.) ;D Quote
nboucher Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Dominick, I've got a good friend who grew up in the Bronx during that same time you were in S. Brooklyn. I've heard many of his similar stickball stories. Were you near Sheepshead Bay? I understand the fishing was pretty good there. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Yea I grew up in South Brooklyn and for a lot of my life Fall meant Snapper Blue Fishing off the docks in Sheepshead Bay They had two Great places to get Italian Style sea food and clams on the 1/2 shell Randazzos and Joes Clam Bar There were many party boats there that would go out for Blues and Flukes that looked like doormats Ā I got sick on the boats and put that down right away I belive y0ur friend in the Bronx will tell you of a place like this a little North of the Bronx called City Island Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 This is one of those dangerous weekends I hate. All the divison leaders are playing teams they can easily beat on the way to face to face confontations with each other in the next couple of weeks Sometimes it seems they forget to play each game while they anticipate seeing each other Mets vs Nats Card vs pirates and I think the Reds are in Philly Watch they will pitch some guys too little , take a look at a rookie,or the guys wont be as intense as always and big divison leads get cut in half. I HATE THESE WEEKENDS Quote
RiskKid. Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Small world Muddy Man I grew up on Staten Island....in a Yankee house...grandparents had a cabin on the Delaware River so I did all my fishing there for whatever we could catch....lived with them all summer as a kid.....my dad and uncle would would bring me back to the city once each summer to catch a Yankee game. You're almost making me want to move back for all that great Italian food, stickball and trips to the stadium! Quote
nboucher Posted August 11, 2006 Posted August 11, 2006 Muddy, I agree. I dread most those series against lowly teams. As Red Sox fan, I dread them even more today, after the debacle in KC and Tampa. The sportswriters and pundits all talk about "beating up on these teams" and put the games in the win column before they're even played. Very bad karma. Then, when the good teams lose to those teams with inferior records, those same sportswriters and pundits panic. Happens every friggin year. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 12, 2006 Posted August 12, 2006 See what I mean Mets and Cards both loose to highly inferior teams This is gonna get ugly this weekend Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 13, 2006 Posted August 13, 2006 The Mets won Thank God beating the Nats may not be impressive but every win nails the door shut on the division On the other hand the Cards lost 2 in a row to the Pirates Better watch out for those Reds they are definitely benifitting from a weak division The fact like a under 500 team like the Astros are only 5 back is whats helping them. Ā The Stros with a pitifull record Ā 57-58 and they are in third WHAT A WEAK DIVISION The Stros have incredible Pitching by name not by Numbers Ā If junior can go on a tear now and their middle relievers do their job the Reds just may be a threat Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 OK Cardinal fans it's time to worry Swept by the Pirates, time to worry Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 OK Cardinal fans it's time to worry Swept by the Pirates, time to worry You got that right Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Thats all right the mets play the Cubs once more and we will see what happens in that series. These are the seris that always bug the lead teams The ones everyone puts in the W coloum before they are even played Ā I have a spot in my Rapala box a slot marked G-Rapala!!!!!!!!! ;D Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Like I stated before if the cards dont shape up it will be a fight for the wild card spot. Ā Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 Hey G man Dont you just wish LaRussa would show a little more emotion. He needs a good toss out from an ump a tirade in the dugout somethign. He always looks like hes waiting for a waiter to bring his entree or something. He needs to wake that crew up somehow WE ALL KNOW THEY CAN PLAY WAY BETTER THAN THIS Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted August 14, 2006 Posted August 14, 2006 He needs to take lessons from Ā Ozzie Gullien. ;D That will motivate the team Quote
