Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Hey Riskkid yu know how humbling this next statement is for me but even though he is a Yankee there is no denying for me that Jeter is the best the game has to offer today. He is a money ball player when you need him to do his thing he always shows up like another ^^R$%Yankee in October Reggie Jackson. Now the stats heads will jump me now with this guy or that But I stand on what I say This kid( he is very young) is a leader like so many I have seen. Bench,Rose, Reggie,Ozzie,Mays,BanksThe Rocket The guys that lead a great team to even greater things. Jeter has all that and then some. He is the most complete palyer in the game for my money. I I am not saying this in disrespect to Puljos, Wright or Howard in the NL they havent done their thing for as long or sucseeful as Jeter. Quote
RiskKid. Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 He is a dandy Muddy. One of the homegrown Yankees, kind of a throwback to our glory years of the 50's and early 60's. He is a class act and one of the good guys to boot. Don't be humbled by your statement, you are just recognizing a great talent even if he plays for the hated yanks. That the sign of a true fan....I hate it too when I have to admit that there are some great Red Sox. I hate to say it but I really admire Big Papi. Wonder how long it will be before he's a Yankee ; ;D ;D Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 AAHHH THAT AINT GONNA HAPPEN He friends with Minya They will be painting a target in Shea for him by spring Quote
RiskKid. Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I see it this way....it would be like we were fishin together and had a bet on who was gonna catch that 10+ pounder we saw swimmin in the shallows......probably neither one of us would luck up on hookin it but we sure would be talkin about it ;D ;D ;D Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Papi weighs a few ounces more than 10 lbs Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I watched a few re runs of Izzys last few outings The camera angles are trash cant figue if he is tippin or not I can tell you they seem to know the location of the pitches though! Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 The AL MVP is a very close one because the best contenders are different players. Mauer is the batting champ, Papi is the HR/ clutch player, and Jeter is the leader. I really would be happy with any of those guys winning. I dont even know who is going to win it. Papi probably would have the best overall numbers but the Sox dont look like they are going to be in the playoffs this year and he had that problem this week but it was only a couple of games. Mauer has the Ba but not the RBI. For a catcher that BA is amazing. He is probably the best offensive catcher in the bigs now. Jeter is having one of his best seasons of his career offensively and has done a good job bringing those superstars together even through the injuries. (IDK why my other post was delted but ok whatever this is my 500th post) Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 OHHHH MAN!! Dang it IZZY. Cards score 2 in the top of the 9th to take the lead but guess who blows it in the bottom of the ninth. None other than MR JASON ISRINGHAUSEN. I HATE JASON ISRINGHAUSEN!! Post a Smiley if you got that. > > Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 Annibal Sanchez threw a no-hitter for the Marlins. Its about time, it seems like ever since anthony reyes threw a no hitter into the 8th against the white sox a lot of pitchers have been throwing no-nos deep into games but no one has finished them. That one guy threw a no hitter into the ninth against the cards this weekend and finally Annibal did it. Congrats to him and the Marlins for being over .500 and 2.5 gb in the wild card. That is amazing with the guys that are on that team. Run-away manager of the year... Joe Girardi. Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 7, 2006 Posted September 7, 2006 I think i have found Izzy's problem. He tries to strike out every batter by making every pitch a perfect pitch. In these perfect pitches, he tries to get guys to chase which they lay off because they know cutter=off the plate=ball. He ends up getting behind the batter and either walks them (if no one is on) or hangs a pitch to go yard(if they can hit a gw hr he will hang a pitch ex. Carlos Beltran). Or the dude is just messed up. PUT WAINWRIGHT IN!!! Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Wow I just saw the plans for the new Mets Stadium It looks like old Ebbets field! They break ground in the parking lot after the season!!! Im gonna miss Shea I grew up in that park I think Ive cried in every section at least once At least when Doug Sisk was our Closer Quote
RiskKid. Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Muddy, You'll still have the planes flying by.....do they still sell knishes there, thats where I had my first one, didn't know what it was but it sure tasted good! Who would you want to throw out the first pitch when they open it. I think Kranepool should do it! How about this pic for nostalgia! Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 actually i wanna throw out the first pitch : : Hey does ElDuque (remember him,we got him now) throw a slider at all? Quote
RiskKid. Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Nahh....that pitch wasn't invented yet when he learned how to play baseball....he's older than Cy Young ;D ;D ;D Did you know his first post season loss was to the Mets Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Yea we get even with those Bullies from the Bronx once evry century ;D Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 They're tearing down all the great stadiums Shea, Yankee, Busch,... Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 And who declared Yankee Stadium as GREAT???? Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 O wait your right muddy, i ment old. GOOD NEWS>>>>Izzy out and expected to miss at least 2 weeks. Wainwright and Looper are the new closers. YAY!!! On sports center they said when izzy comes back he might not be a closer anymore. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 You may think Im nuts but I hopoe they use him as a starter Thats how he came up. I bet you with ciming in starting a game and the lower pressure he could thrive again Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Thats a good point and would be interesting to see. Or maybe he could do an Ankiel and go to the minors as an outfielder. He is a decent hitter. I think they should sit him for the rest of the year then next year put him back in the closers roll. If he fails, send him down to Springfield and try to become a starter. Or maybe try it in spring training. Quote
RiskKid. Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Question- And who declared Yankee Stadium as GREAT????? Answer- Babe Ruth.....he built it!!! ;D ;D Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 No a lot of immigrants built it, he just hit home runs and shoved hot dogs in his face in it ;D Quote
bassmasta7 Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 ^^^And that is who will be building the new one. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 Hey are the Cardinals still in this???? : Quote
