Okay,I read an article about the Ankiel HGH accusations.

It said he received shippments in 2004,HGH was banned in 2005.Rick had stopped receiving shipments in 04'.Sure if he test positive now then he should be suspended for the 50 days. But to me it sounds like he quit in time.So what's the fuss?

Thing is,if he wasn't tearing the cover off the ball, this would have never been brought up.It has put a dark cloud over his head for sure, but I hope he continues to cream national league pitching.

There is no accurate test for HGH. The only test is a blood test and is said to be not accurate. This is most likely the new steroids since MLB cant test for it.

NE ways, the cards are doing awesome, and i havent been posting much on this thread because everytime i do they lose. Only one game back, they could be tied for the lead tomorrow. Unfortunately they have to face Cy Young winner Brandon Webb tonight. Lucky for the cards, Webb is 0-2 since his scoreless inning streak was snapped. Ankiel is exactly what they Cards need and could carry them to the playoffs.

Nice article bassmasta7.

Now Troy Glaus' name has been brought up for the same thing, with the same pharmacy. He was shipped HGH in 2003 and 2004.This could turn into a mess. Thanks New York Daily!Just what baseball needed!(I'm being sarcastic ofcourse)

Oh that explains a few things in the Base Ball world. Seems that same Pharmacy was sending HGH and those little blue pills beginning with V. to BONDS. He has been crushing the pills and mixing it ith the HGH and APPLYING IT DIRECTLY TO HIS BAT No wonder he keeps testing negative

No wonder Bond's bat is so up and down!

That's funny Muddy! ;D

I think Ankiel has a short, maybe week or less, period of saving himself before he falls from grace. If he were to apologize in this period and admit he did it before this gets way out of hand, he would be forgiven and greatly respected. I would like him even more than i did last night after his 2HR game if he were to apologize soon. Based on that article, it didnt sound like he "allegedly received the HGH", it sounded more as a fact. MLB has already asked to talk to him about the situation. I hope he can apologize, put it behind him, and not let the dark cloud hang over the team while they are in a heated playoff battle.

I see where you are coming from bassmasta but really,he's done nothing wrong.I really feel this was done to distract Ankiel. Not that it was the city of New York but the writer and editor from the paper.

HGH was not banned from baseball in '04.He had a legal perscription. He has rights that make it where he doesn't have to talk about it.He was recovering from Tommy John's surgery. The HGH was supplimented to speed up the heeling process. No,the old timers didn't have this option. That is were it is unfair for guys now days to use it.

Ankiel is not saying much until he makes sure his P&Q's have been checked. He will make a statement when it is time.

TRADITION: Some of it disappearing and it ain't good. Hey Fellas' Glavine had a perfect game and nono going into the 5th. Guys like Skully, McCarveror Cary would not have even nemtioned it til the 7th and let it go. I remeber watching Coney's perfect game, it was briefley talked about til the eighth. The pitchers in this situaion will usually sit apart from the team and no one will talk about it for fear of gettin him outta the Zone. True Fact / Hookey Tradition, whatever you think is your take! All I know is the 2 nitwits ( Ireally dislike both of them) doing the Met Games currently started yapping about it throught the fifth inning. Top of the six , Glavine facing the bottom of Houston's sorry batting order , FIRST PITCH SINGLE  NO NO and Perfect Game Gone and so should the two idiots doing Met's games these days  GGEEEZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!! :o

Well guys, the Cards got swept by the DBacks. That hurt....really hurt.Tony screwed up!I know Franklin has been lights out, that was until he got to Arizona. He needs rest.

The Cardinals finally win one after nine losses in a row.  More injuries haven't helped.  I'd say we're about done, but I still hope for a miracle.

It's gonna take a miracle! The Cards are pretty much out of it.We just went through the best part of the rotation and only Peneiro got a win.BTW,He was sharp after a rocky start!Hope we get him signed!

My Met's will NEVER SEE A WORLD SERIES THIS YEAR!!!! The Phillies while being better than the Mets face up, won't do it either as they are not the best in the NL. They can hit the Met's sorry relief pitching, thats why they always win late in the game.THAT IS WHY THIS VERSION OF THE MET"S WILL NOT WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP, we need relievers, you can't ask more from the starters, who at their age can not pitch a whole lot of 8 inning outings, and that is what is going to eliminate my team :-[

One thing to remember for all of us Cardinal fans: We are still World Champions!! 8-) It's been a long season, but for a few more weeks we have the trophy. :) As our young bear friends to the north always say, "we'll get em next year!"

Can you name 80 millionaires that will be watching the WS on large screen TV's?

Ans> The Cards and the Met's

Yup we're done, so i will enjoy the last month of being champions. We really didnt deserve it without making any moves in the offseason and it finally caught up to us.

Anyways, IDK if you guys have seen this yet but my new favorite fashion designer, Marc Eck, bought bonds' 756 ball. He has a website where the public can vote on the fate of the ball.

http://www.vote756.com/marcecko// You have 3 choices.

1. Send it to the HOF

2. Brand an * in it

3. Send it into space on a rocket, then send it into orbit

I voted for #2. I think after they put the * on it, they are going to give it to the hall. It is the closest thing to what i would have done with the ball which was: write *'s all over the ball, then a few choice words for Barry on the ball which would later ironically need to have more ****'s put over them.

The Met's are doing a classic late fall nose dive  This is soooo familiar :-[

Yup,the Cards are done.I think the Met's are going to hold their ground and make the playoffs and are still my pick to go to the WS.The Cubs are playing good but I don't think they will hold it togather if they make the playoffs. To many hot heads on that team.

BTW,the "Deadbirds" showed some heart lastnight and almost made a heck of a comeback.Even though they're out of it,I still love to watch a game like that.Injuries have plagued the Cards more than anything this year.Don't be suprised when they don't make alot of moves this offseason. They may go after a leadoff guy and ship Eckstein. They will probally go after a starter but it won't be an ace.

Prediction:Met's and Red Sox in the WS.Watch out for Philly.

I am a Mets fan, I am also a realist. The Padres,Dodgers,Brew Crew and The Cubbies ALL HAVE BETTER BULL PENS. The Phillies can sweep the Mets every time, because the Mets are dead once you get into their bullpen. Couple this with continued lack luster defense the Met's will not see a series. I am actually hoping for a classic WS this year, one that would intrigue even the casual fan CUBS VS INDIANS, both with a loyal fan abse, one would still get heartbroken. Me being a Met fan can tell you a lot about heart break and it is happening now

I think Willie needs to spend the winter with his ex teamate Sweet Lou , Willie is too soft on his players. His skill as a manager is suffering from his players mistakes with the golves and on the base paths, thats the kind of things managers and coaches have responisbility over/

The two most dependable startrs the Mets have now( considering the Mane dissapointment) are Pedro and Glavine. Both can not go for a whole game I bet you they will leave every game pitched ahead and get mostly if not all no-decisions, thanks to the bull pen.

Philly can't beat any of the West teams, They can't beat the Marlins because their lineup hits late in the game, there 5,6 and 7 slots are weak so they are weak against teams with at least decent relief pitching.

Posted

I may be callin' it wrong. The Cubs are the best team in the National League right now...I thought I would never say that. The west teams just don't got any bats.Sure the Padres have the best starting rotation in baseball but you gotta score some runs. The Phillies bullpen is decent but their overall pitching is not.It is their explosive offense that is winning for them, averaging over 6 runs per game(4th best of all time).

To me,pitchers start to fatigue this time of year more than hitters do.It's a factor that can come into play.I haven't followed the Mets much this year.I still think they have the best chemistry out of all the clubs. It's going to be whatever team gets hot at the right time.

Posted

Hey CJ, a lot of current bull pens are filled with pitchers that depend on sliders, cut fast balls and such The more tired their arms get, the deadlier thos pitchers are. If you look at the Phiullies, their explosive offense is really at the hands of a lot of weak bull pen outings. Most of thier offense has occured after the 5th inning, against bull pens like the Mets that are fast ball/strike out oriented. The Phillies are good fastball hitters til th 5 slot. They suck against fast breaking balls. The Cubs and Pinella are locked , loaded and dangerous now!The Chemistry of the Met's club is the best since 86, but pitching not chemistry wins championships. It is time for Randolph to get a little angry with thier defensive and base running shortcomings. He learned how to manage pitching from one of the best(Billy Martin) he can't control what the front office has given him. But he can and should adress the sloppy play and lack of fundementials his team is showing now.

Well it's time for me to eat crow and a good lesson in what can change in a long season. Earlier this year I was on the bandwagon to give up my Yankees for dead and figuring it was time for Mr Torre to step down. I know it's not over yet but what a difference between now and then......we've gone from dead to being a legit contender....things are looking up in the evil empire!

AND I'M ONE HAPPY YANKEE FAN
