Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 Wow those NL and AL Central races are developing into classics! The Brew Crew at it again, they need to understand that every game counts, something my Met's fail to do also! They have too many seasons lately: starting like champs and loosing focus Card have LaRussa at the helm and if 2 to 4 start putting some hits together can be dangerous to the end. I gotta tell you guys, Id like to see sweet Lou get the Cubbies into it. But when the playoffs start I am all about my hometown team the Met's!!!!!! One the other side of the fence this race between the Tigers and Indians is getting sweet, but if you can't dominate a team like Tampa now when it counts , it is not a good thing. The Tiges are looking like they are Gellin Quote
RiskKid. Posted August 18, 2007 Posted August 18, 2007 I think today would be a good day for the rocket to earn some of those millions.... Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Ahh! Who is he pitching for these days, i don't think my TV gets that chanel Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 If the Met's don't get in my next favorite WS match up would be INDIANS vs CUBS Â They can call it the HEARTBREAK WS Quote
RiskKid. Posted August 19, 2007 Posted August 19, 2007 Ahh! Who is he pitching for these days, i don't think my TV gets that chanel You of all people!!!!! As best I can remember WPIX channell 11......I guess cable has changes all that though    BTW, he did earn some of that money today...HooRay!!!! Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 Tow great games in NL East race last night the Met's and Phillies both pull out their games! On  the other side of the fence I stand corrected on A-Rod, he is finally playing up to his expectations, meaning he is carrying that team and is the one and only MVP of the AL this year! Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Mets blew one at home last night, Puljos is one fire and how about that football score for a baseball game Texas 30 Â Baltimore 6 Â :o Quote
Super User senile1 Posted August 23, 2007 Super User Posted August 23, 2007 I can't believe the Rangers scored 30 runs! Â That's unreal. Â It's the most runs scored by a team in 110 years and the most ever in the American League. Â Yes, Albert is hot . . . . 5 games in a row with a home run. Â Quote
Super User senile1 Posted August 28, 2007 Super User Posted August 28, 2007 How 'bout those Royals??? Â They are only 15 games under .500 and they aren't in the cellar. Â Who would have thought that the White Sox would fall to the basement. Â The Royals have actually played some decent baseball since their slow start. Â If they would score some runs when Gil Meche is pitching they would be only a few games under .500. Â I'm a Cardinals fan but I'm a KC resident and after the Cardinals I guess I'm a Royals fan. Â So how about it? Â Any Royals fans out there want to comment? Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 The Royals haven't seen a good team since Brett retired! Â Now back to Major League Ball The Phillies jumped my Mets last night, NY needs to take the next 2 . It i important for them to take every series from here on in! Quote

Now back to Major League Ball The Phillies jumped my Mets last night, NY needs to take the next 2 . It i important for them to take every series from here on in! Ouch!  I guess I can't argue the facts.  What can you say about a team that has lost 100 games or more four of the last five years.  But they are playing better this year.  Royals fans have to believe the youth movement will reap future benefits.  The trouble is, the Royals have been here before, and then free agency takes all of the talented guys away.  The Royals have to spend some money to keep some of these guys when their payday arrives . . . . . . Carlos Beltran, Johnny Damon, Jermaine Dye, etc. where are you now? Quote
RiskKid. Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 You think the Mets got jumped on.......the Moose layed down and was a trampoline for the tigers to have a jumping fest... We still may get a wild card.....as much as I hate to admit it it looks like the Bosox year if they get past the Angels and I believe they will. Quote
Super User senile1 Posted August 28, 2007 Super User Posted August 28, 2007 I hope the Bosox get knocked out in the playoffs. Â I've still got a bad taste in my mouth from the way they swept the Cardinals in the 2004 series. Â If the Cardinals can't make it this year, I'm rooting for the Mets. Â There are a lot of games still to play. Â Every team has their slumps and the Red Sox are due to hit a rough patch. Â Quote
llPa1nll Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Well Well Well, here we are closing in on the end of August and I cant help but smile. The Boston Red Sox are up 8 games on the NYYs. They of which got their a$$e$ handed to them last night by Detroit 16 to 0. So the Sox travel to the Bronx for 3 games. Its going to be a fun and interesting series. Quote

Hey Senile : My team the Mets hold the truest record that will never be broken 1962 THEY LOST 120 GAMES!!! They make a run every 17 to 20 years, the valleys are deep. The Royals will see sunllight again Quote

Hey Risky do not overlook the AL Central , some good squads goin neck and neck and no one has really pulled away! I do not watch AL ball til this time of the year, to see who is coming at the NL team in the WS. I lke to watch the NL, you know no DH, the major leagues where managers have to actually manange THE DOUBLE SWITCH! Quote

I lke to watch the NL, you know no DH, the major leagues where managers have to actually manange THE DOUBLE SWITCH! Muddy, you should watch more AL ballsee quality baseball as it can be played. The BoSox have the pitching to go all the way, though I'm less sure about the hitting. And remember that Francona has managed in the NL. Still, being good on paper doesn't mean you end up being the best, just ask the White Sox. Just got my season ticket bill for the postseason tixthis year I'm happy to pay up . . . And, Risk, thanks for your public concession of the division. I just hope the Yankees don't print your e-mail and put it up on the clubhouse bulletin board to use as motivation tonight! Â ;D Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 28, 2007 Posted August 28, 2007 Hey Norm: going into the series I would rather have good pitching and timely hitting. Much better than a club thats all bats and no arms: SEE NY YANKEES 2007 ;D ps What a shame for A Rod, the best everyday player in the Majors this year, If he has a few more like this he will catch and pass Bonds! That last remark will have me banned from Shea for the rest of the regular season, but even though he's a Yankee (A-Rod) the truth is the truth Quote

Have been without Schilling for a good portion of the summer. Manny and Big Papi both have been in season long hitting droughts. Who would have thought that Mike Lowell would lead the Red Sox in Hits and RBIs? They had their big slump that the NYYs were allowed to closed the 14 game lead to shrink it too 4.5 games. I think they have turned the corner and have their lead back upto a comfortable 8 game lead, with a 3 game series in the Bronx set for tonight. Go SOX! Quote
Super User senile1 Posted August 29, 2007 Super User Posted August 29, 2007 lpainl, I'm not a Red Sox hater by any means. Â I was rooting for them to win the American League Championship in 2004. Â I still don't mind if they take the Yankees. Â Â Sorry, Riskkid. Â But justice is due. Â : The Cardinals made it back to .500 last night and second place behind the Cubs. Â They haven't broken even since very early in the season. Â I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this isn't just an aberration. Â They are 31 - 22 against their Central division opponents which is the best intra-division record among the teams in that division. Â If they can keep that up they might have a chance. Â Their record against the NL East sucks . . . . 12 - 19. Â Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted August 29, 2007 Posted August 29, 2007 Hey Senile the Met's are finally headed to 500 too  They are tankin, 2 extra innings losses to the team thats trying to catch you in late August, is not how you win divisions!  ARUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-/ :'( Quote

Super User K_Mac Posted August 29, 2007 Super User Posted August 29, 2007 As most of you know I'm a long-time Cards fan, and have suffered with them as injuries, less than expected production from marquee players, and management's decision to not give away the franchise to keep and aquire talent has kept them out of contention this year. I really gave up on them having any chance of making the play-offs a couple of months ago, BUT hope springs eternal. With the competition in our division, and some better play lately we may have a chance! As the last couple of years have shown, once you make the post-season anything can happen 8-). Go Cards!!! NEVER GIVE UP til strike three / out three!!!!!!!!!!!! By the way it really is useless for you guys It's our turn this year Quote
